Isn't it amazing how different peoples memories are of the night.? Is that because of expectations and whether it lived up to our own? Saw Captain Beefheart in Manchester once that was surreal ! Pink Floyd at Leeds Town Hall in 1969 was strange too. The Marvelettes at a gay bar in Leeds in late 70's, trying to sing for a drunk, gay crowd with about a dozen of us who were there for the right reason, being heckled..they were excellent despite all that.. - One Sunday lunchtime me & my mate Dave Maltas had just got off the train in Leeds on way back from Manchester after the Casino, when we heard loads screaming. We turned round to see hundreds of screaming girls running straight at us!!!! Then we realised they were chasing a mini bus with the Bay City Rollers hanging out of the windows, just for a minute though things were a little bit weird !!!

Every time we went in , we would ask 'have you seen Stan Spencer?' ...'youve just missed him he's gone to the ...Arms or whatever! this went on for 2 hours, until we went back to the pub we were supposed to meet him in to start with and he's sat there large as life ...'where's tha bin, Peter?' we had to laugh .

We used to travel through from Leeds to the Hole-In The Wall ! Thats a blast from the past ! Remember going one time and as we got there we were bombarded by pigeon shit from above.as we cut under a tunnel, I think...I managed not to get hit but one or two of the crowd had to go home again, as they were covered..

the number 2 bit refers to the soul club side , the other part, presumably number 1 club, was the ballroom dancing nights that Joan & Derek ran. It was later dropped to just be called Central Soul Club.. But early on it was Central No.2. Although the building number being No.2 is just a coincidence I think.
