  1. Yes there is that. Then again, we've all been there, not wanting to leave anything to chance. I know I have
  2. Maybe if people were to post a list of records they have received in their packs it would give members more of an idea what they would be getting for their money. £300 for 300 records does seem great value for money. But it is only great value if you are getting the kind of records you like. I am not being funny here, just saying. It would also get you more business if people knew what they would be getting.
  3. What if sellers added the date to the thread title and amended it each day to let people know that the sales list is still active? Members would then be able to see at a glance what sales are still current and those that are not. Also changing the thread title to 'closed' or 'ended' once it's finished?
  4. What narks me are people who quote a whole sales list of a thousand records just to say "pm'd you" or "list updated". Sellers - just remove the items you have sold from your original list. Buyers - just say "pm'd you" without quoting the whole bloody list.
  5. Don't tell me Andy... you've just bought the Slant Seriously, I really don't know what to suggest. Would one of those 'sticky label remover' sprays do it?
  6. I had one come like that too Andy. It was the shape of a banana. I thought no way is this in one piece. But God must have been shining on me that day because it was. Phew!
  7. And before anyone thinks I am trying to ruin this sale - behave!!
  8. Pretty sure that "50" is the price Franc Hello btw
  9. Hi Dawn. Could do you a copy of the last DDA cd if that's any good to you hun? x
  10. I was going to say that... but I didn't want to be a smart arse
  11. Take it from me Lee, it ain't going to happen mate This film has already been argued over on here and I really don't think many people give a shit any more. We will all watch it when it comes out no doubt, but as for high expectations...
  12. What? People have done nothing but have a laugh about it on this thread so far!
  13. But you were the 10th person to do that to that shop window
  14. I find myself asking this question time and time again these days Dave.

And I have probably seen more Fairmount than Hemisphere. But obviously they weren't the new 'rare' Fairmount. Apologies, but I've got to ask... did you ever get a swap for that Magictones Dave?
  16. Now this is what I call a thread! I am so excited just thinking about what we will be reading and learning on these pages. Welcome Paul. We are honoured to have you on here. oops.. a bit over excited and my spelling went a little awol
  17. What a fantastic record! Always loved it. You can tell it's going to kick some rare soul arse just by looking at it. The guys selling some serious tunes!
  18. Should never have been in the bag in the first place

Rarer? You sure? I've seen as many Fairmount as I have Hemisphere. I have both. Have to say they sound the same too. As far as I can recall anyway. Been a while since I've played either

  22. Lowton Soul Night Hits Its 13th Anniversary this Friday 13th Feb 2009! Friday 13th February 2009 sees LOWTON CIVIC HALL celebrating its 13th ANNIVERSARY. And in these days of a new soul night starting up every other minute, I’m sure you’ll agree 13 years is pretty good going! Originally the brainchild of longstanding local Northern Soul devotees Kev Murphy, Steve Connor and Bill Harrison, and ably assisted/promoted by Lynn (the Lowton Civic Hall Manageress) the birth of this new monthly soul night in February 1996 provided the ideal opportunity to promote a more diverse musical policy from the outset. With a two-room approach, one dedicated essentially to mainstream oldies and a smaller ‘Connoisseur’s’ room embracing different genres of quality soul from all eras (Northern, Crossover 70’s etc.), the venue was an instant success. With DJ’s such as Barry Maleady, Steve Plumb, Bob Hinsley, Soul Sam and top notch regular guests in the ‘Connoisseur’s’ room and Ginger, Andy Dyson, Mick H, Kenny Burrell, Pat Brady and Rob Thomas, to name but a few gracing the decks in the main room, Lowton was hailed in specialist soul magazines like Soul Renaissance as the ‘grass roots’ of the forthcoming Northern Soul Renaissance… little did we know. Today Lowton still delivers on all fronts, with top name DJ’s playing the very best quality soul music from all eras. The only difference being that since January 2007 the ‘Connoisseur’s’ room has been the home of the DDA (Dancing DJ’s Association) who offer you the choice of something a little different to the main room but with no loss of quality. If this has wet your appetite, why not give Lowton Civic Hall at try? Whether you’re into Northern Oldies, current all-nighter rarities or funky crossover, you will not be disappointed. Remember Friday February 13th Lowton celebrates it 13th Anniversary and believe me that will be a fabulous night with Ginger Taylor, Chris King and Dave Evison guesting in the main room along with residents Baz Maleady and Kev Murphy, together with the Dancing DJ’s Association in the back room with Paul Sadot, Karl Rhodes and Joan Livesey and special guests Kev Cane and Colin Denham. Lowton runs on the second Friday of every month between 9pm and 2am and features two great rooms both with large wooden dance floors, excellent sound systems, licensed bars till 1.30am, a record bar and a large car park. Everything to ensure a great night out!
  23. No one's played the vocal out yet though. At least not to my knowledge.
  24. Loads of people are playing it Steve. And they are all playing it as Doni Burdick.
  25. That's what I was saying. Why would anyone even think to cover it up?
