  1. How did the Falcons take being told they weren't wanted this close to the event?
  2. No wonder you're pissed off with it all Mark... you need to get out more

  4. Thought it was for a friend?
  5. He also got Phil Kowalski's copy quite recently too (Phil paid £400 for it off Ebay ) Swapped it for the Camero's I think? Will always be an Ion and Cliff Steel tune for me. Awesome.
  6. Absolutely! On both counts! Thanks for sharing Liam
  7. Behave you
  8. I actually did a piece of work on this for my degree. The 45 rpm speed was the only one to be decided by a precise optimization procedure (by RCA Victor in 1948). Calculus was used to show that the optimum use of a disc record of constant rotational speed occurs when the innermost recorded diameter is half the outermost recorded diameter. That's why a 7-inch single has a label 3 1/2 inches in diameter. Given the CBS vinyl groove dimensions and certain assumptions about the bandwidth and tolerable distortion, a speed of 45 rpm comes out of the formula. 9. You shouldn't have said anything Ady... they'll be merged now
  10. The best part of the Gt. Yarmouth weekenders. Bonkers!
  11. Absolutely fantastic record. In fact, it was the only one of Steve's tunes I really wanted. I know a lad from Preston, Billy Kinder, used to have one. That was where I first heard it. Must be 15 years ago now. He sold his collection to Steve Plumb. Who in turn sold a load to Soul Sam I think. Neither one can recall this record though? But he definitely had one.

  13. And me please Dave. Label looks great too
  14. It has had a bit of an airing over the years. Not much though. I suppose rarity plays a part in how much turntable action a record gets. Obviously the rarer the record the less chance there is of it getting played. It also depends on whether the owner has the guts to play it. Come back Rob Marriot that's what I say!
  15. Have you had it a long time? Reason I'm asking is for a record that is supposed to be one of the rarest on the planet.. there's quite a few of them around
  16. And like Rich has already said, you could call it Doni Burdick
  17. I always thought it was but I'm sure I have heard Butch, Andy Killick and Andy Dyson all play it at Burnley recently. Does Carl Fortnum have one too? That would make at least three/maybe four copies. Still mighty rare without doubt. But how many copies are there out there?
  18. I just thank God Rob had faith in his records and the guts to continue playing them week after week, despite getting slagged off and clearing the floor. You only have to look at how huge records like the Trannels and the Hyperions went on to become to realise he was right. Those were exciting times. Never to be repeated I am sad to say.
  19. Rob used to get slaughtered for playing records such as the one's mentioned in this thread, along with others like the Trannels and the Hyperions. (and we all know how huge those two records went on to become). Whenever I think back to Rob's heyday, I can't help thinking thank God there was no Soul Source. Jeez, can you imagine the frenzy in Lookbacks - he plays a record that completely clears the floor at a venue, only to play the exact same record again later on in his spot.
  20. Rob was the man. For me, he was better than Butch. Great times indeed!
  21. Great tune! Despite sounding like he's singing "....pigs kidneys"
  22. I'd say you would have at least a hundred people biting your hand off for this record. Simply stunning!
