  1. I'll go with this one. Oscar Perry - Face Reality Aaalon Butler & New Breed - Got To Be Something
  2. If you are playing records at home it doesn't matter what you play. If you are playing records at a venue then you play originals. End of. And if people like you say that makes me a soul snob - then so be it. It shows you know nothing about the soul scene.
  3. Will do. Should see him tonight, if not sometime over the weekend. Take care hun, catch up soon. x
  4. Oops... I thought it said shall I keep two for you Joan!
  5. Not like you to miss an opportunity for a sale hun. Anyone wanting tickets for Little Anthony can collect them in person from Phyllis at Bonnyrigg all dayer
  6. Do people really do that Paul? That's disgraceful!
  7. Breadmaker didn't post this up did he? Wow... I'm surprised. He's usually bang on the money. Excellent taste.
  8. I have never heard it played out and I could never see it getting played out. Why on earth would it? It's not a soul record.
  9. If Rob Marriott had a pound for every time someone said that to him Well I love it! And I for one would certainly dance to it if I heard it out. There are hundreds of records that are never going to set a dance floor alight. Doesn't stop them getting played though does it Would it be so bad for one of those records to actually be an excellent piece of soul music for a change?
  10. The first time I became aware of this record was when Alex Jones sold it to Soul Sam at Lowton a couple of years ago. If my memory serves me correctly it wasn't cheap either. Definitely the high hundreds. I wonder if he still has it? Have never heard him play it out. One hell of a tune without doubt. Nice to see people making use of Jason's site too. Great stuff
  11. Why should I have to ring them up Adam? They are advertising their event on here so why shouldn't any questions be asked on here? As for being more than happy to answer any questions, all I got when I asked if the Falcons would still be appearing was
  12. Well done you Oooh... I can't wait to hear it out!! Whooo hooo!
  13. Jeez... you ask a question and all you get are people who claim they have absolutely nothing to do with the event coming on and answering questions that have bugger all to do with them. Not only that, they are just 'guessing' at the answer! Surely it is the job of the promoters of the event to come on here and answer any questions about the event they are running and not Fatius Bumius, Speedlimit, soul45er, T BONE. OZ. K.T.F. or whoever? And as for the bit about them having full time jobs? Well maybe they shouldn't have taken on such a mammoth undertaking if they weren't going to have the time to do it properly? And that's not a 'dig' before you all start. Just common sense. This thread is starting to remind me of another on here, you can post on it by all means, just as long as what you say is all sweetness and light. But heaven help you if you dare to question the powers that be
  14. Oh yes please hun. I completely forgot! Will pm you now!
  15. I for one am not 'back biting' as you put it. I have asked perfectly valid questions. I am not attending this event but I have friends who have tickets and they are genuinely concerned about whether they will get to see the live act. Are you saying those concerns should not be raised?
  16. He loves all this stuff, but once he'd posted he felt that he had to put that post up to make it look like he couldn't give a shit
  17. Perfectly put Paul. People seem to forget that EVERY record was a NEW record once. Personally I think a lot of people just aren't bothered about hearing new stuff. They get lazy. They would much rather have a comfortable pair of old slippers than a brand new pair of designer shoes. They are just old. End of. I will never get old.
  18. That's very magnanimous of you Darren. There will however be a lot of folk a bit miffed if they've paid £15 for a ticket and they aren't one of the 'lucky' 1500 who get to see the main man in the flesh so to speak.
  19. Are you one of the promoters then? Sure as hell looks like it. You are the only person answering anyone's questions Oh... and are you saying that once you've sold your 1500 tickets that's it?
  20. Are the tickets for those who aren't interested in seeing the live act going to be cheaper then? Like you have so rightly said. Not everyone likes/wants to see live artists. Maybe if you have a two tier pricing system a: you might sell more tickets b: you might avoid a riot if you end up selling more tickets than the amount of people who can actually see the live act 'live'. I know if I had forked out £15 for a ticket, only to find out on the day that I couldn't actually get in to see the live act, I would be mighty pissed off. And no amount of TV screens in the other rooms would make up for that fact. Not if I had paid the same amount as those people in the main room.
  21. I have two out of the three... Clarence Jackson and Andre Williams. Always wanted a copy of the Fabulous Apollos, as this was always my favourite. Still want one, but like I said before, Clarence has recently pipped the Fab lads to take number one spot for me!
  22. Trying to find a date that didn't clash and upset anybody just about killed me Andy. And that's the truth Promoting is definitely not for me!
  23. I have to say I couldn't do it. My one and only brush with promoting was probably the most stressful thing I have ever done. And that was a one-off event that was free to get in! You have to be ruthless to the point of being vicious and I just don't have that in me I'm afraid. Saying that, I am so glad so many people are suited to it. Long live promoters!
  24. Are you only allowed to comment if you've bought a ticket then? Maybe some people might not have the money to buy tickets in advance. You are allowed to pay on the day aren't you?
