  1. Nooooooo... That is also a tent, but it so bright it's scary. Perfect for weddings Anyway, we like it dark and dirty
  2. Blimey, there's a blast from the past!! Will definitely listen in
  3. I agree, some great tunes get played in the Queen Vic - but there is no dance floor! I don't think it is too much to expect there to be a dance floor at a dance venue. Plus there is no getting away from the fact that it is a pub. And yes, we talk about this every year and nothing changes. Maybe the powers that be can find the time to answer on this thread and address people's concerns.
  4. That is so cool! I often think about all the artists who are going about their daily business oblivious to the fact that there is a bunch of lunatics over here fanatical about their music. I wish they could all know that it wasn't for nothing and that their talent is appreciated. Good on you Dave!
  5. Hi Franc. You could try Johnny Fingers. I know he had dealings with him not too long ago.
  6. May I just add that I don't dislike the Redemption tent. It is dark and seedy, hot and sweaty - just like they should be! And the music is incredible The only problems for me are the dance floor and the sound issue. Get these sorted and the room will be amazing and probably nowhere near big enough
  7. Is it working Steve? I can't comment as last year was the first time I had been to Prestatyn since 2006 and I only ventured out of the Redemption tent to see the live acts. I do know in 2006 the main room was deserted by 4am and all the record dealers had packed up and gone to bed! It wasn't always like that though. In 2004 the music in the main arena was as good as I have heard anywhere in all the years I have been going to venues. It was FANTASTIC. And the floor was absolutely rammed all night. In 2005 it started going downhill, for me, and in 2006 I just couldn't stand it anymore so decided to call it a day. I have no idea why they decided to change the music policy after 2004. It wasn't as if the place was empty and they had to do something to try and entice people back in. The place was packed solid. If it hadn't been for Carl & Maria's room I doubt I would have gone to Prestatyn again. Like I said before, the Willingham room will see the return of many who, like me, stopped going for no other reason than their musical tastes were not being catered for. But why stick them in a tent where you can't hear the music being played because of the boom boom from next door and that has no proper dance floor to speak of? If it transpires that there really is no other room available, maybe they could look at some sort of soundproofing for the Redemption tent?
  8. Bottle bar? In the Redemption tent? Blimey, where do they put that? There isn't room to swing your pants as it is!
  9. Wow! I wish I had kept stuff from years ago. You have a wonderful way with words Swish and a fantastic writing style. I can't wait to read about your exploits!
  10. Just reading this and the add for Ebay in the first post shows there is a copy up for auction on there at the moment.
  11. Awh what a cutie! I love Staff's. Don't know what I am going to do when I don't have mine anymore.
  12. I meant he has been playing it as well as quite a few others
  13. It was Ted. Andy Dyson has been playing for ages. As have quite a few others. Isn't it in Refosoul? If not you can hear it on Manships Rarest of the Rare.
  14. We all know I am a nobody Beeks. All I said was there was no need to call Cliff a
  15. That is not called for.
  16. Of course it shouldn't. But to the majority it is a most definite yes.
  17. You are right on the money. I don't need Butch to play a record for me to know it is good. Rarity has nothing to do with price. A high price tag usually stems from desirability and has nothing to do with rarity or even quality in a lot of cases. Don't you just love northern soul
  18. How very true. Why do people think the price of a record increases just because Butch plays it? Look out for the Limitations on Bacone. Butch played it on Saturday so it is bound to be his latest biggie
  19. Why feel guilty? It is of interest. I love talking about soul music and old pots, never happier He really does love soul music. He told me he was asked to do Desert Island Discs or a similar radio show and that all the records he chose were soul and R&B. Like I said, a very interesting man. Maybe we should invite him along to a soul do sometime!
  20. Ha ha... there's the birthday party.
  21. There was a thread on here about this a while ago that said Eric was a DJ at Burnley Cricket Club and that he had a fantastic collection. I asked him about this and he said he definitely did not run it or DJ, but did say something about a birthday party? He also said the reason he stopped going to soul do's was because of all the other stuff involved I agreed with him of course.
  22. I haven't listened to the show but I do know Eric Knowles personally as he was the fellow of my antiques degree course at university. There was a thread on here a few years back saying how Eric was a northern soul DJ, had an unbelievable record collection and knowledge to match. He hasn't. I know he hasn't because I asked him. He has about a hundred 45's and the extent of his northern soul knowledge is Joy Lovejoy and Ramsey Lewis. That said, he does love R&B and soul music, only not in the same way we do. He is a lovely, lovely man with the most incredible memory.
  23. We don't seem to have this problem in Lancashire. Here's me thinking it was you Yorkshire lot that were as tight as a tight thing
  24. They are both great but Soulful Twins has the edge for me
  25. Come on Vince - post up some of what you've got hidden in there. Can only help with a sale And make those of us with no money pig sick
