  1. Have you asked Mr. Kyser about it? It does seem a little strange that he has not been on this site since around the time all this happened. This site must look like an 'all you can eat buffet' to some people
  2. KFAD has been played a lot over the years. For me, Jock Mitchell is a far better, much more soulful tune
  3. Well said my friend
  4. Urban myth? Have you been reading this thread Mark
  5. I am sure there was a birthday thread for Paul Kyser on here a while ago and something was mentioned on there. People weren't too happy if I remember rightly. If you do a search you will find it.
  6. Loving this flyer Steve
  7. We went to an alldayer at the sea side on Monday. Dancing to rare soul with the aroma of fried chicken and chips took a little getting used to though. I think it could go big
  8. I had no idea it had been booted. Why would anyone boot it anyway? It isn't as if it is a rare record or hard to come by or anything.
  9. I agree. I don't think it is a £1000+ record either. That said, I know of at least two copies that have sold for well in excess of that figure. Hi Shute
  10. Carl Fortnum sold one on here a couple of months back for £100-150 something like that. My husband loves it and that is your fault Simon! ps. any chance of the other cd you promised?
  11. With respect Paul, Beat Boutique is not a soul night as we know it although full respect to the guys for getting the music out there. To quote your last post, it is not 'what a narrow music policy prescribes' so much as what the venue prescribes. The style of music you champion is not typical of what allnighters on this scene are about. I have listened to what you play and although there is the odd track I like, you would be the first to admit that it is not to my taste. This is where the small rooms come in. They offer something different. Small rooms do not carry allnighters. If they did they would be the main rooms. I hate to say it but if you are looking for a scene to accept the style of music you like then I have a horrible feeling this isn't the one to do it. It has nothing to do with whether the music is good or not. Just that it is not right for this scene.
  12. Yes but I think it is every month. I could be wrong though. There are also soul nights at Preston Grasshoppers and Greenlands.
  13. There have been a good few soul nights in Preston over the years. A good few bad ones as well
  14. Not to mention the fact that soul source and the soul scene are two very different things. One virtual. One actual.
  15. No problems as far as I can see. Too many venues maybe but hey ho. I enjoy myself as much now as I ever have done. Like I said before maybe it isn't so much about the state of the scene as much as the people on it.
  16. It is not about being proved right or wrong. I hope it is a big success for you. Will you be DJing?
  17. There are so many venues at the moment I am sure everything is more than covered ten times over Anyway, I am not the one promoting you are. So can I ask what are you going to do to make your venue stand out? Will you be DJing at this event of yours?
  18. So that will be just another 'much of a muchness' venue to go with all the others then? Good luck with it Phil. I shall watch with interest
  19. Bang on Chalky! If I go somewhere and the music is not to my taste I just won't go again. I would never come on here slagging it off. If I go to an allnighter and there is a DJ that does not do it for me. So what? I am one person in a venue full of people. All it takes is one look at the dance floor. If that is busy then it is job done in my book!
  20. Hi Phil. Apologies if I came across a bit strong. I know people are going to start up new events but for the life of me I can't understand why. Why not just support the ones that are already going? Unless you are going to offer something different of course. Are you going to be offering something different?
  21. In that case why would you want run an allnighter in Preston? More to the point why would you want to run an allnighter at all? What do you have to offer that isn't already being delivered?
  22. Yes there were all dayers but there was also an allnighter.
  23. I tell a lie My husband has just informed that there was one at the Top Rank around 1980 ish but the police shut it down at around 4am. Apparently people have tried in the past but the police always put a block on it. Why anyone would even consider putting another allnighter on when there are already so many others on is beyond me.
