  1. Of course it is a fair question. Just one that you will never get an answer to That said, £20 and £35 is not a lot of money for a full weekend of soul, who ever the promoter is.
  2. I do my fair share of dancing though Matt so an unknown every now and then is very welcome. Especially at my age
  3. Of course promoters make money. No one expects anyone to run a venue at a loss. Do you really think there are people on here that think they should? There is a difference between running a venue occasionally and running venues as a business. But maybe that's just me. Big Bob - you certainly know what topics to start to get peoples attention
  4. Not being funny Chalky but one of the promoters said it himself in a previous thread - he is in it as a BUSINESS. And businesses are in it to make money are they not?
  5. Really? You lot were on here saying it was a film about being young etc with northern soul being used just as a backdrop. Make your minds up ffs
  6. I could say that people who dance to records they don't know are f**king idiots but who am I to say what people should or should not do. Or that they are f**king idiots because they do or do not do it.
  7. Absolutely! That said, I never dance to a tune the first time I hear it. But once I have heard a tune that I like I will dance to it the next time I hear it. Like I said, I need to feel passion for a record for me to dance to it. And for that to happen I need to hear it first. So no dancing to a tune first time for me I am afraid.
  8. For me it is a passion thing. I only dance to tunes that 'move' me. Tunes that I have never heard before can't do that because I don't know them. Simple really. Well for me anyway
  9. Phew... I can go to bed now with a clear head
  10. I know what it is but can't for life think what it is called and it is doing my head in It goes "Hey Mr. One Stop.. I'm looking for a record and it goes like this..." Is it on Fortune?
  11. Look at the girl when she sings "baby it's getting cold out". Brilliant
  12. I just can't take it in. Absolutely devastated.
  13. Good luck with this Phyllis If I was going I would definitely be a customer as the Indian head massage sounds great. You would have to find my head first though Seriously, all the best hun!
  14. Yep Derek is a good un. One of my other fav reads is 'Soul Renaissance'. Love the way Martyn writes... he doesn't give a hoot and tells it as he sees it. Great stuff
  15. He definitely did because I wrote some record reviews for it. No idea when it was though. Like you say, great magazine!
  16. There was no thought given to value when the records were being made. No records were specifically recorded to be expensive or rare - they were recorded equal. High values on records is a fairly recent thing and has nothing to do with quality. If everyone can own a copy then all the better in my book!
  17. Really? I think they should start as they mean to go on - rocking!
  18. This is what happens when you have had a record forever and have no interest in selling stuff - you don't bother keeping up with its current value. Good record though for sure.
  19. Wow. Thanks for that. Note to self - make sure to check if you ever decide to sell anything. I would have listed it for £100
  20. Hello my friend. I won't say don't let them bother you because I know that is easier said than done. What I will say though is don't let them know they are bothering you. People hate to think what they are doing is having no effect and that my friend is beating them at their own game without having to even think about it. Keep smiling hun and hope to see you both soon.
  21. You are right. Do you know how much the ones on Ebay went for?
  22. $600? Jeez, I never rated it as that rare a record. Shows how much I know. How much have the ones on Ebay been selling for?
  23. I have! I was at the 100 club (in my dream) and Ady played a female version of the Five Chances - Stranger I Love You (Finch). I can't stand the Five Chances but this female version was incredible. Any chance you could find it Ady?
  24. Look at our Chris
