  1. All well and good but do we really want a scene without oldies? I certainly don't! They are all oldies at the end of the day and just because you / me / the person next to us may know them it doesn't necessarily follow that everyone does. Until every single person knows every single record it is impossible to say something is truly unknown surely? People embark and alight this soul journey at different stages, there is no right or wrong here (apart from ovo of course lol)
  2. There's a great clip of the last record here Peter, complete with impending riot when it finishes. Fantastic
  3. Wow. This is a record that was around when I started going in the early / mid 80s so I just assumed it had been played for years already. Always learning!
  4. Totally agree. I just thought if it was an issue on one internet site it would be the same issue on another. I'm just a bit more clumsy in my approach
  5. Really don't see what the issue is with it already being public knowledge on facebook (apparently cos I don't go there)
  6. Right, at least now people know the history behind the record. Apologies for my bluntness but I can't be doing with all this secrecy stuff. If there's something to say, say it
  7. Why don't you tell those on here that don't do facebook what the issue is. He is selling stuff on here too so please share!
  8. When I was in Seattle a few years ago we went to this record shop and while there was nothing of real note in there, there were a couple of bits I wanted. Now let me tell you, they were not sleeved and while they played ok, they were in pretty bad shape over all. Anyway, I took them to the counter where the guy proceeded to slowly produce Manship's guide from under the counter (like it was his secret weapon) and check the values. He then went on to ask for the full amount stated in the book. Did I say the records looked like they had been skated on? Fair to say all of us left without buying anything.
  9. No idea where you get this from as Chalky quite clearly posted at the time of the last one that he had recorded the talks and that he had posted them up for people to listen to. Maybe once again his words will fall on blind eyes!
  10. Do they have an hour of Northern?
  11. Do they have an hour of Northern like you have an hour of modern? Serious question, I never go to modern events.
  12. Nothing to stop you booking into a hotel and getting your chauffer to drive you into the compound under the cover of darkness
  13. Ady did give a talk at the last one actually This isn't about 'us', it is their take on the scene as part of a more general, social and cult thing. It was very interesting but not entirely accurate in my view, apart from Lucy Gibson. Might go again if I'm not doing anything.
  14. Like Chalky said, a most enjoyable and interesting afternoon. Lucy Gibson's talk was the one I enjoyed the most. Out of all of them she was the one that I thought understood and 'got' what the scene is all about. Great bit at the end where they welcomed our questions and thoughts too. Not at all the cringe fest I was expecting. Proper enjoyed it.
  15. Sonny Daye - Long Long Road - Power (Ex) £150 SOLD Sophisticates - I Can't Stand It - Mutt (VG+) £70 (a few marks on this but nothing major and both sides play great) SOLD There is my name 'Livesey' written in the run out on the b side of both records (in ultraviolet marker pen) but at least you will be able to identify them as yours if the worst was to happen PayPal is fine, as is bank transfer / cash. Just add £2.00 for signed for delivery. Thanks

  16. Post playlists if you want, read them if you are interested. Jeez ...
  17. Who?
  18. Hope Carl & Maria's room is still on
  19. I agree with what you say and some of the 'big' names are as guilty as anyone of this. Yes it can be a bit annoying (for some) when someone else plays a tune you've been playing but it's not about us is it, never has been, never will be.
  20. I love reading playlists, always have. Just think if the internet had been around years ago like it is today what a fantastic resource you would have of what was played where and when. As for people playing stuff they read in playlists? So what? People have always done that and always will. One thing playlists don't do is give you a true feel of a night, they give you an idea of what you might hear but not the experience. I have heard some sets that on paper you would think pretty average but that really worked on the night. There is no substitute for experience.
  21. Heard worse but never liked it if I'm honest. You did ask
  22. I love half hour sets, keeps things moving along nicely plus it means you have an empty floor for a shorter time Went to the euroculture dayer on Monday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved it in fact!
  23. Can't get on either. Nice problem to have, just wish it wasn't me who can't listen
