  1. Cheers mate! If you remember, and have a minute, can you dig it out ? Much appreciated! Loads, Joan Bet Danny still looks 15!!
  2. Thought i'd give it a go!! Anybody got any knowledge of Dave Warr? He shared a flat in Caledonian Rd, London with Danny Everard approx 15-20 years ago. (WOW......NOW THAT IS SCARY!!) From Cornwall originally, me thinks. Last i heard he'd moved down to Bournemouth ? with Sue. But i could be (and usually am) very wrong!! If anybody's in contact with him can they tell him i was asking after him please? And maybe ask him to get in touch? Would be top to know what he's been up to all these years. 20 years is a long time - and you don't half meet some people during that time....... some good and some not so good!! Dave is no.1 on my good list. Loads, Joan

Gotta say one of the best nighter's i've ever been to that one! and didn't he sing THE INSPIRATIONS - YOUR WISH IS MY COMMAND that night? and yes i remember Danny and co on stage!! Not too sure how good they sounded but definitely 10/10 for sheer entertainment!!

  14. And i felt it just wouldn't be right to let today pass without saying just a few words about this unforgetable man. MR. FRANK JACKSON As some of you will already know, it was the funeral of Frank Jackson today. And i felt it just wouldn't be right to let today pass without saying just a few words about this unforgetable man. Frank Jackson, has got to be one of the most humble, respected, dedicated, enthusiastic, kind, loved and most knowledgeable people this scene will ever know! His pure passion for soul music, the way he carried himself as a man, the way he so completely loved his wife Maureen and son Frankie and genuinely cared about those who were blessed with having him as a friend, will never be matched or equaled. He was one on his own....one fantastic guy! So wether you were lucky enough to know Frank Jackson or not is irrelevant. This man helped make the soul scene what it is today.... AND FOR THAT WE ARE ALL TRULY GRATEFUL!! Way to go Frank! Love you and miss you loads, Joan,Tony and all your many, many friends xxxxxxxxxxx Ps: Be sure to give that Lawson fella loads!!

  16. STAFFORD RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB, STAFFORD. Last Friday night we travelled down to Stafford to a soul nite run by a very good friend of ours, Shute. We thought it would be a good night but instead it was an ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC NIGHT!! The music was incredible with Shute doing a TOP SPOT playing the likes of Eddie Daye & Four Bars (Shrine)- Guess who loves you - which i hadn't heard played in years and sounded mega!! And with the immense stature of the brilliant CARL WILLINGHAM as the guest the 3B's Soul trio couldn't lose! Haven't got a clue what 3B's stands for but it should be THE BIGGEST, THE BEST, THE B***OCKS!!! THIS SOUL NITE IS GONNA PUT STAFFORD BACK WHERE IT SHOULD BE - ON TOP!!! Well done lads..... See ya next month!! Loads, Joan xxx
  17. PETER HODGKINSON - "BIG HODGE" - A SAD, SAD DAY As a lot of you will already know, Peter Hodgkinson from Crewe, better known to everybody as "BIG HODGE", died last Thursday in hospital. His funeral is being held tomorrow, Thursday 19th August at Crewe Crematorium at 2pm. I'm sure i can speak for everyone when i say what a truly nice guy Hodge was. A big guy, for sure, in every sense of the word. His sheer love for life, for his wife and family, for the music and soul scene that was so important to him, and for those of us lucky enough to be his friends, will never be equalled. He will be surely missed. I would just like to say to his wife and family that our hearts and prayers are with you all.... now and always. Lots of Love and God Bless, Joan xxx
  18. Must say two cracking toons!! Glad to see there are people out there with good taste prepared to give cheap records like these the chance they deserve!! Have had both for a few years now - but gotta say Otis Leavill (for me anyway) is definitely "THE DADDY!!" A few others of his that i've got and would say are well worth giving ear time to are "Let me Live" - Blue Rock "Keep on Loving"- Columbia "Right to cry"- Lucky "I'm Amazed"- Limelight And on the subject of cheapies - check this one out - talk about a lot of bang for ya buck!! Brenda & Tabulations - That's in the Past - Dionn PURE MAGIC!!
  19. Can honestly say i have never seen loads of these records in boxes - or on e-bay. Fantastic record - got mine years ago for around £35 if i remember rightly. But that was years ago and very cheap as far as i'm concerned. This record has way over a £100's worth of soul in it all day long!! Especially when you consider some of the other records that are going for the same price these days. You see this for sale at £ 100 - £125 laddie - snap their hand off and get yourself one truly great record!!
  20. Gotta be "WHAT YOU GONNA DO ABOUT LOVE" - .....AWESOME!!
  21. [size=7 The best lyrics have got to be - Shirley Whals - "That's How Long" - King "TELL THE DJ'S THEY' VE GOT NOTHING TO SAY....... UNTIL THEY HAVE NO MORE RECORDS TO PLAY !!!" .......'nuff said!!
  22. KEITH CURTIS - GOT TO KEEP YA BABY - SMOKE What can i say.....except i challenge anyone to try & play this on their armpit!! AWESOMMMME!!
  23. Well what can i say except that you didn't mention FRED!! Fred Lawson - to those who didn't know Pete personally - was Pete's cat! Fred, though, was no ordinary cat!! Oh no - this cat was definitely a Lawson! All i can say is - like Pete - Fred had the knack of being "misunderstood". He comes walking into the house one day with half his head missing and another time with a noose around his neck!! And FUNNY - in his own feline way every bit as funny as Pete! Completely devestated Pete when Fred sadly passed on. Pete wrote an obituary about Fred and buried him at the bottom of the garden. Which, i am sad to say, is just bare earth because nothing has grown in that spot since that day....not a flower ...not even a blade of grass!! Go figure..? HAPPY DAYS INDEED. Peter Lawson was, IS, soul. If they were to put the word Northern Soul into the dictionary it woul read Northern Soul - PETE LAWSON. End of. Loads Joan xxx
