I have just been reading Mark R's playlist on the Cleethorpes thread.... and i have to admit to knowing a total of 4 of the records that he listed. Which .. if i'm honest ..has made me feel just a little embarassed about just how limited my knowledge actually is. Which got me thinking.... When i first started going to niters in the early 80s ... never went to Wigan... so Stafford.. Leicester... Hinkley etc .... i used to know a lot of what Robin Salter, Adam etc were playing at the time.... and have to say liked a lot of it.... and could've probably had a conversation about it and have been able to hold my own ... to a point of course. But it struck me while reading Mark's playlist just how much the modern scene has become a completely seperate scene of it's own ... compared to when i started going .. when it seemed to be more combined ... if you know what i mean. But more to the point ... realising my total lack of knowledge on this subject has shocked me a little if i'm honest ... anybody else feel like me... or am i the only one?

Like i said on a post last week ... EVERY RECORD WAS A NEW RECORD THE FIRST TIME YOU HEARD IT ... every single one! No matter what record it is .... you didn't know it at one time. So i really don't get why people aren't open to hearing new tunes..... surely they had to be at one time to know the records they know now ... .........if you know what i mean ...

God .... i'd love to have this so i could play it out Bill Spoon .... have had this for years and play it out regularly ... another awesome tune .... just wish it came on 7" instead of 12" (.... must be the first time any woman's said that!... ooh missus ...)

My Kenny Carlton and Tony Diamond play without any hiss.... although the b side of KC ... the best side imo ... doesn't play so good. Also ...while on the subject of Blue Rock ... i can't play my Delettes any more .... it looks mint ... but sounds crap ... can't understand that one as it used to play great. Have noticed that all the Embraceables on Sidra i've heard seem to have been recorded quite 'low'... if you know what i mean. Also every copy of Jock Mitchell - No Mad Woman ... has a hiss at the begining .... varies from record to record ... on some the hiss only lasts a few seconds.... Then there's mine ... that lasts until the last two bars ... totally unplayable ... typical!!

Hi all, Been asked to post this for a friend who found out last nite she won't be able to go now due a family member being critical in hospital. So .... there's an EMPTY 8 BERTH CARAVAN UP FOR GRABS ( no having to share with undisireables ) and 2 PASSES. Obviously she would like to get as much of her money back as poss .... passes were £108 and caravan was £226 (i think) .... Please PM me if interested. Thanks loads. Joan Just been told to say that she would like full money for the passes .... and will accept £150 for the caravan.

Perhaps those who object to hearing new stuff know all the records that they want to know .... which goes against everything i thought the soul scene stood for. A wise man called Pete Lawson once said to me ... that if you truly love soul music you won't be satisfied until you've heard every single soul record that was ever made. Now realistically.... that will never happen ... but you're going to die trying ... because that's what the soul scene is all about..... isn't it? Anybody not pushing to hear new records at venues ... imo.... can't really love it ... and certainly doesn't understand it .... they can't do ... else they'd be like the rest of us morons ..... trying to hear them all....

Carl Fortnum used to always play this ... not sure who was the first to play it though ... you there Chalky...? ... again .. not heard it out for years

I bought a vinyl cleaning machine a few months back .... and i have to say the difference in before and after is unbelieveable .... Wasn't cheap ... around the £300 mark ... but when you compare that to the price of records now ... works out cheap in comparison. Worth every penny in my book

Love this record ... had mine for 10 years or more ... would you believe listed at £50 in Manships ...
