  1. Well there's no brown smelly stuff so it can't be Lenny Harkins' copy
  2. Bleeding Nora... sounding very professional there guys! A bit different to the foyer on Friday night!
  3. Can I have Matt Brown please
  4. LEE ROGERS - SOCK SOME LOVE POWER TO ME-PREMIUM STUFF
  5. BUDDY LAMP - SAVE YOUR LOVE - WHEELSVILLE
  6. Yes... one mighty fine tune indeed. Have Buddy Lamp and Lee Rogers... Buddy just pips it for me. Although both are absolute stormers... Detroit at its best!
  7. You know me!
  8. Perhaps because he likes the B side Paul... it could happen! What has scared the beegeebees out of me is how many people carry the Snake around in their playbox! Jesus christ on a bike... what's all that about? I am proud to say I have NEVER owned a copy of the Snake... have never even had it on tape! What I can't get my head around is when DJ's say.. "oh I really didn't want to play so and so but someone requested it.." Errm... if you really didn't want to play it... why have it in your play box? The only valid excuse imo is if it's a double sider. Otherwise.. if it ain't in your box.... you can't play it! So leave the Snake at home guys... that way you can't play it... no matter how many times your asked. Problem solved...
  9. Who said anything about buying records they hate? Also... surely there isn't anybody who buys records they don't like. Anybody out there buy records they don't like?
  10. PERFECT!! I'm after a copy of the Four Tracks... if anyone's got a copy with a f**ked LMLFY side... pm me! PS: never ceases to amaze me how many people reply without reading the original post properly
  11. The Four Tracks thread got me thinking... Would you play a record you hate if someone requested you for it? I would love to own a copy of the Four Tracks... cos I think 'Voo Doo Man' is a cracker of a record. I can't stand 'Like My Love For You'... but seeings as you can't have one without the other.. it's in your play box. Would you stick it on if you were asked... even though you hate it? I haven't got a clue what I'd do... so maybe I'm gonna pass on getting one... just so's I don't have to decide!
  12. Wow... this is so sad x
  13. Top tip for 2008? Jeez... beat ya to it... only by about 20 years Will be expecting to hear it everytime I see you DJ from now on! Can I add... and please don't start spitting at me at niters... am I the only one who HATES LMLFY?
  14. Its beyond me how anybody can play the 'Like My Love For You' side when there's probably one of the best storming soul records ever on the other! No matter how many turn up... I'd still want one. For no other reason than Voo Doo Man is one incredible piece of soul... and no matter how many copies there are... it won't change that one bit.
  15. No... rocket science is easy
  16. Did you see the original play? The music was THE thing that made the play what it was. Yes... the actors were great... and the storyline was one a lot of people could relate to. But imagine that without the music. With all the will in the world... nothing... not even the most gifted of musicians... could ever recreate the memories we all have in those songs. Like Paul has already said... would you like DJ's to sing the songs to you at allnighters? Would you pump!
  17. Thank God for that Tony... was like pulling teeth!
  18. Hi John. Yeah.. seem to remember something about labels being reversed on the re issued ones. Then again... I could be wrong as it has been known... often! I do have this... and labels are on the correct sides. Will dig it out and post a scan when I get a minute... don't have it here at the moment. In the meantime... anyone?
  19. Please send him my very best wishes Chalky. Such a lovely, lovely man... am so sad to hear this.
  20. Jeez... after all the effort you put in to writing that post... I feel kind of reluctant to bring up the point that what I said... I said tongue in cheek
  21. Sadly... that understanding has yet to reach Lancashire
  22. Is that you Tony? I think there will be more people on here who will know what you're talking about than would have thought possible! Colin Murphy had the exact same problem with a do he ran in Preston. He was adamant about the music policy he wanted... same as yours... just good quality soul music. I was a resident there... and he had some great DJ's on... Karl Heard, Karl Rhodes, Ged Parker, Fred Krol, Geoff Buckley, Phil Threlfall, Paul Sadot... Kev Fearnhead (Soulbarner)... you get the picture... Anyway... he has stopped running them now due to the fact that he's fed up with banging his head against a brick wall. And yet... a couple of mile down the road you've got another Preston soul nite packed to the rafters every month... and why? Because they give them what they want... the same old same old... Don't be dictated to... do what you feel to be right...
  23. Syl Johnson is on Special Agent... although Secret Agent does sound much better!
  24. Perhaps putting it in wants instead of sales might help
  25. Dave got married again last year to a great girl called Julie... he's all loved up bless him! Was a fantastic day. He was our Best Man you know...
