  1. What? 2 weeks? You are kidding me? Was sure JB said that she wasn't going back again after the paracetamol all over the floor day?
  2. Hi Stuart, As the thread starter, you can close the thread. If you look on the left hand side after the last post there should be a box that says 'moderation options'. If you click that it should come up 'close this topic'. Click that and then click 'go' - and the thread should be 'locked'.
  3. Great post!
  4. Situations like this you mean? Sorry chalks - thought better of it!
  5. Great! Have got the LP and the single so look forward to finding out as I have always wondered about this also. This is what's so great about this site!
  6. Hi Bob, Wow! Can't wait to have a listen later when I have enough time to appreciate it properly! Can I just ask - is this the same Bonnevilles that recorded 'Play It Cool' on Now? Also I have been meaning to say this for ages - there is something so magical about being able to hear these artists telling their own stories in their own words. THANK YOU so much for sharing
  7. I welcome anyone and everyone Jayne, the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned. Always has been. But as for the likes of Duffy and Weller being played in the DDA - NO WAY. NO HOW. NEVER! These artists have absolutely nothing to do with the northern soul scene - and never will.
  8. Well that's all any of us can realistically ask for. My only gripe with this film has been the music issue - couldn't care less about the story or anything else. Anyway, here's hoping
  9. I'm sorry, but is this where we are at? Having to dupe people to get them onto the soul scene? What happens if this cunning plan succeeds btw? Will we see DJ's throwing the odd Duffy / Weller cover into their sets in the hope that it may help keep the few new folks who tried the scene to carry on keeping the Northern Soul torch burning long after we've had our day? ps: why do people keep making comparisons to crap records when defending Weller and co? Would you sooner have him than Mel Britt, Darrell Banks, etc?
  10. But do you really think they will be able to capture the 'ESSENCE OF 'THE SCENE' ' THE DANCING, THE FRIENDSHIPS, THE FEELING OF BELONGING TO SOMETHING SPECIAL with Duffy and Weller singing the songs that made all the above possible? What I can't understand is seeings as this is a love story first and foremost, with the northern soul aspect very much in the background - why bother with the soul scene at all if they had no intention of portraying it as it was? Why not set the film in an average 70's nightclub where it wouldn't matter a toss if Duffy and Weller provided the soundtrack?
  11. I meant with me not having them... you'd get in there and hit me with the hard sell And yes... it is great fun!
  12. Sorry hun... Maurice Long is the only one I've got. Thing is ... you'll probably go all out for the sale now
  13. Does anybody actually talk about what's been posted on here when they go out? I know I don't. I can honestly say the only times I recall this site ever being mentioned to me when I am out is if someone says they are 'so and so' off soul source.
  14. Yet they say this here : https://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/news/...il/article.html TALENT-SPOTTERS will be at the Kings Hall tonight on the hunt for extras to appear in a film. They are working on the film Souled Out, which will chart the rise of the Northern Soul scene in Stoke-on-Trent during the 1970s.
  15. I can't comment as I've not seen any of the films you've mentioned, but I am curious about the last one - 24 Hour Party People. The music? Did they use cover versions in the film?
  16. With respect Ian, your only contact with the northern soul scene these days is via the internet - so in a way I can understand why you have such a poor opinion of it. Now, I have to admit to being very flattered by the fact that you are so bothered by me. But that said, I am not the least bit possessive. Passionate? Most definitely. My only gripe with this film has been whether they use the original music by the original artists. Now, while my persistence with this point has been annoying to some on here, I felt it a reasonable question that was worthy of being asked. I'm sure I am not alone in thinking this film has all the markings of being a cringe fest. But I will be the first person to hold my hands up and say I was wrong if it isn't. In fact - I would delight in being able to do so! But for me that will never happen if the music used in the film is by Duffy, Weller and co. Now while there are many people on here who aren't the least bit bothered about this - I don't feel I should have to apologise for not being one of them. Surely everybody is entitled to their opinion?
  17. No word from the Ipsofacto campo then? Something tells me now that they've got exactly what they wanted out of this sight and it's members... we won't be hearing from them again. Anybody know what the film industry term is for being used?
  18. Next thing they know - filming is about to start and they've got no 'young dancers' or 'people with the right feel'. So what do they do? They come on here pretending they want to hear our ideas and are keen to take on board any suggestions we may have - when really, they don't give a toss what we think and are only interested in using this site and its members. But at least Elvis Davis gets it
  19. Despite you getting your message through eventually, I reckon you are bang on the money with what you've said. They have come on here for one thing and one thing only - and that is to get the people they need to dance in their film - and to get them to do it for nothing. They wouldn't give this site the time of day otherwise.
  20. The thing is Shimmy you DON'T know your arse from your elbow as far as the soul scene is concerned. And as for us fighting amongst ourselves, contradicting each other, and finding little to agree upon.... how the hell would you know? Next you'll be telling us you've been logging on here for years to help you get more 'insight' for your film.
  21. Hmmm.... you lot keep harking on about the soundrack never being finalised until after the editing has been completed, which may be true, what do I know about film making. But no one has asked you WHAT songs you are going to use in the film - only whether you are going to use the ORIGINAL recordings by the ORIGINAL artists. And from your reluctance to answer that simple question, its looking like it's going to be Duffy and Weller after all then. On the bright side - if the film turns out to be a flop - why not turn to a career in politics, you are all very good at talking a lot and yet saying very little.
  22. Ha ha.... I used to do that with bottles of cherryade... oooh... I'm such a wild one
