Up Front?
I'm talking about now Chalky. I have to say 'upfront' is not a term I have been aware of that much with regards to advertising an event until relatively recently. To me it means playing something other than soul (funky edge for example) which isn't for me. Some love it, good for them, but not for me I'm afraid. Some people close their ears and don't want to hear anything new, I'm as far from that as you can get. I have listened and decided I don't like it. Have I said it's not for me?

Up Front?
I posted that 'upfront' venues appear to be ones that play 'funky edged' stuff because that's how it appears to me. Northern / soul venues don't use the term as far as I'm aware? Could be wrong of course

Up Front?
Upfront ffs lol Going by venues using this term it would appear to be the not good enough 'funky edged' stuff they're referring to? Absolutely not for me, no way no how. Total bobbins My new year's resolution is to be less tolerant ... it's going well

The Gaylettes On Black Jack
This record is proof in point that rarity does not equate to quality in any way, shape or form. Absolute bobbins lol

Chuck Holiday Just Can't Trust Nobody . . What Year Was This Released?
For me Four Voices has everything CH doesn't have - class - apart the very last line - "that low down dirty dog just stole my woman" - quality! Far from bobbins, just both sides of the FV is far superior backing wise and vocally However, any version of TMS is bobbins of the highest order lol

They were great days indeed and while most did push forward, most were not like Rob. He did tapes without you even asking for them, many a morning I went to the door to find a new one on the mat

Radio 2 - Out On The Floor - 1/1/15
Have to say I find this rolling out of 'celebrities' in the name of Northern Soul more than a bit naff. They went to a few soul do's, whoopee doo. I don't dislike her, she's talented enough in her own field but... A bit like the Eric Knowles myth, he went to a few soul do's but knows absolutely nothing about rare soul and has no records. I know because I asked him lol

Eddie Parker "i'm Gone" Jm Auction
Rarity has got absolutely nothing to do with anything Nev, not as far as I'm concerned anyway. Records weren't recorded rare, they weren't recorded expensive, they were all recorded equal so to speak - they only became rare and expensive later due to the amount pressed and the demand from us raving nutters. I can honestly say, hand on heart, that I would feel exactly the same about this record if it cost a tenner and we could all own a copy. It is without doubt one of the finest examples of Detroit ever made and that's no matter how many times it gets played or how many people have a copy. Like I've said before - I just wish there were more so I could own one. And Andy D.

I'd love to hear it every single time I went out. This record is in a class of its own and sounds as good as it did the first time I heard it. Just awesome!
