  5. John Collier..'the window to watch'..
  6. ..first met Alan, when I was DJing at Chuck Wagon Skegness, he arrived dressed like the bay city rollers on a scooter..he was into Elton John..after he heard the northern i played..he gradually got more into it..eventually we travelled to Wigan together, his fave sound was the velvet satins..he was always having his picture taken with friends..he had loads..not seen him for years..
  7. yeah ..i've heard much worse..
  8. ..now come on be honest..i bet you played Gary Lewis to death..back in'74..cos every other bugger did that had it..if only for a few weeks..it was massive..
  9. you never know..i worked in Bulgaria ,Sofia some years ago..i promoted a northern soul nite and had first nite badges made..they absolutely loved it..even had a dance comp..
  10. sounds about right..Ross turned up at Eastgate market nr Skegness about 7/8 years ago..completely lost the plot..he'd tried to convince my mate he was Ross Winstanley..still had all the great Wigan records..but needed to sell them quick..my mate who should,ve known better didnt twigg..and called me to see i wanted to buy..after several minutes..i figured it out..

  16. no it was Dave Owen..deffo..Dave Rai knew him but like me from afar..
  17. ..terrible thought just occurred to me..there but for the grace...in '73 i really became aware of Northern soul..having gradually been collecting Motown and Soul 45's for a few years..i hadn't passed my test so was always trying to get a lift here and there (usually to Boston's Gliderdrome) i knew Mick had wheels but i didn't know him well enough to cadge a lift..of God go I...never thought about it before..heres weird thing..i can remember clearly Mick's outfit! usually wore white skinners with a navy blue wool long sleeve jumper with green collar..that he bought from us,,,can see it now..
  18. no its not you..another Dave?
  19. yep..its making more sense..this must've been the summer of 73..because Ross was seeing Marilyn from Mansfield (both working in Skeg) at that time ..because i went out with her from early '74..so rightly Torch was closed.Leeds central maybe..we all knew Pixie mick well, but i never asked him about the crash! and i think Ross went from bad to worse..i also met another guy from Grantham who knew Mick (at Skegness weekender) called Dave i think..(gary Wade intro'd us) was that you or someone else?
