  1. not really..though it was banned in most cinemas..it showed at the Tower cinema in Skegness..i blagged the poster..and me and a pal dressed the next night in CO gear..white skinners, black dm,s white FP..bowlers and make up..we were banned from virtually every pub..(the make up i guess) we took photos..and never wore that look again..
  2. as a 15 year old in Skegness..i used to see all the skinheads in the summer..and the fights in the compass gardens!..now as skins began to fade..and smoother haircuts and fashion grew..some remained skins, usually from the backwaters where fashion trends were slower to move..at the Gliderdrome Boston soul music was at the forefront..and die hard skins, smoothies and suedes mixed even when pop bands appeared..so, 70-72 was a big transition..until by 72 long hair was the thing..but still wore skinners to Doc martin boot-tops..and chart reggae was still popular..i guess rarer soul came along in 71..and definitely by 72..when i was looking thru junk shops for 'competition ain't nothin'..'..and some footy fans from London that came to Skeg at that time were amazed at short hair and boots saying''we ditched that look years ago!'..fashion moved more slowly back then..but it was amazing when all the hip guys used buzz words like stomper, sliced tomatoes, sam & kitty..Torch..
  3. a psych inst that was once covered up as the sounds of lane..have only see white/green promos until today..has anyone else got the regular green label issue?
  4. molded on label i think..
  5. back around late '72 maybe 73..i bought a copy white label blue letters..90p from a selection of other pressings..looked good but there were plenty about so i always though they were boots or reissues..
  6. really..wonder why i didnt figure that out...
  7. whats the story with the booted 45?
  8. after finding the alt version recently on you tube..wondered if this was issued?..in fact has this superb track been released anywhere other that the orig two guitars 45?
  9. ok..possibly the matrix stamps are the same for the NR500 repress..some suggest they were pressed from the same plates..lets see what your promo shows..
  10. somebody must have a guaranteed original issue from back in the day..can we see it?
  11. the distribution company APPEARS ON ALL COPIES THUS FAR..anyone else shed any light?

Ive just bought a copy an issue and trying to find out if its original 72..or one of the 500 repress.Do both carry the same matrix markings? did the repress have a bubbly label..and in what year did you have it repressed?....regards Elvis I broke my W/D a few months ago...not a happy bunny. The re-issue would have been done 1978 or 1979. It has the name of a distrtibution company on it, that's not on the label of the original.. I think the repress was bubbly label on some copies. Was only 500 repress so rarity in own right. All The Best, Neil thanks for the reply..i have a post up under look at your box-soul patrol-definite answer..contains scans which you may be able to comment on..regards elvis.. Fast Reply
  13. ah does it?..i never had one..
  14. ..though discussed many times..i dont think anyone has the definitive answer to the question...which is the original yellow issue and which is the re-issue? so, there is a white promo most agree is the original,,then a yellow issue (both approx 1971/72), then a yellow reissue acknowledged by neil rushton as ltd repress of 500 approx 1976. The questions distills to which of the yellow issues is the original?..There are differences between each press label..(most agree matrix /delta details are the same) one has similar size artist/title text as the promo with a gap between pub details to right and left center, the other has smaller squarer artist/title text with no gap in right & left center details.both share some similarities to the promo label notably the bold type and text style. so white promo - original yellow 1st issue - 2nd yellow repress(NR 500).. can anyone tell me which is the original 1st yellow...maybe someone who had a copy when it was first played..or certainly pre 75/76..its one of the most puzzling ..and i'm sure many people will be checking their copies..scans are here for comparison..opinions are already well documented..does anyone have the answer? interestingly sale copies from the US feature both yellow types..
  15. ..had a copy from a soul pack back around 77..nice tune but not northern enough back then..moved it for a couple quid..there did seem to be quite a few around...
  16. thanks..and for the recent info too...
  17. ok..thanks..
  18. i almost bought an emidisc from Russ at the time..but took a copy of Little archie on Dial instead...
  19. at the moment i'm listening to your 'live' version..
  20. plenty about..expect to pay 25-35 quid..
  21. thats the one..( a little bit hurt..SS may have lifted that)..id settle for a carver if the quality is good enough..thanks Elvis
  22. I'M AFTER A COPY, EITHER EMI DISC/ACETATE OR LP/CARVER OF....FOOTSEE..now the version i want is the first mixed by Simon Soussan and pressed onto emidisc type 45's then played at the casino early '74 as THE SOUND OF SOUL- it has a piano/keyboard intro..car horns and tapping metal pipe sound..may have been subsequently re pressed on other emi disc format or on a white label LP containing other northern soul tracks..not everyones cup of tea..but i'd like it for nostalgic reasons..must be good (or better) playable condition..now..who has one??
  23. ..is the inst version on the b side?..never heard it..can anyone post it?
  24. oh..well maybe i did hear it earlier..as Queens hall was April '74 (i think) if AOTR was a year earlier..would that make it a Torch sound? or just after?
