  4. Stratoliners was on a '74 winstanley list..so it must have been known by then..even if only a few..
  5. !!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. well..i could use a track-list..wanna see if i can hunt some of these mothers down!!..great mix...Elvis
  7. i first heard it around 75 prob mecca..then maybe at samanthas..i remember later that Kev roberts had a copy for sale at a Notts palais all dayer..£30..which i thought was a bit steep at the time...just shows you...
  8. well..i had some tasty unknowns courtesy of the 100 for £5 from soul bowl. mid to late 70's i got Chris Cerf and promptly c/u as Shane Martin. lo and behold a mate came round to my house to listen to 45's , i played it an to his amazement said it was Sam's top sound..Len Barry...i took it to Cleethorpes still c/u and Johnathon Woodliffe wanted to buy it..we looked at trades but the deal faded..anyway Sam announced the real artist!!..i had no intention to uncover it..i never understood that..eventually i sold it to Kev Roberts..it got pressed!..
  9. ...i was there also..and i seem to remember it was summer ..cant remember a fight but as i was there on my own ( from Skegness) and had been biffed about before by Boston lads i kept well out of trouble..i'm sure Poke DJ'd as he ran a quiz over the MIC..asking if anyone could name the artist & following song..it was Anderson bros ..i seemed to be the only one who knew it..and rcvd an LP on dynovoice prob the Toys..as my prize. Major wore an emerald green jumpsuit..and signed autographed photos after the show in a small sideroom..we were allowed in , one at a time..ML looked really pissed off, so i uttered thanks and scrammed..i got the last train back to Skeg..and i think it was 1975..
  10. yep..a massive Wigan sound..both sides were available by Russ on an EMI disc..
  11. ok..but whats the relevance to the logo styles? staggered or straight..why the difference, is either rarer/more collectable? promos obviously..
  12. wondered which if either are considered more collectable or rarer..
  13. ..is there any prev owner name in the run out?
  14. kim tolliver..fabulous..
  15. ..all i can say is....i thought it was a black singer guesting on some tracks!..til i realised it was Kim Wilson on all tracks..incredible..very Stax sounding..beautiful songs..very different from their more well known powerhouse blues stuff..deffo worth checkin out...
  16. ..the history of black music is littered with the demise of singers under tragic circumstances..DB was just another..i often wondered as a kid (when i first appreciated Otis Redding) what would have happened to Otis' career? (ironically shared same label)..would he have managed to adapt to a new style of soul..doubtful as OR success was due much to his power and vocal delivery..most had their time in the the spotlight ..some brief..which is why they are so revered now..
  17. ..recently rcvd a PR for a record that had an unnoticed tiny run in crack and scuff..all good in the end..
  18. and there you have it!! nothing much else to say..
  19. its all about personal choice..i prefer Doris Duke amongst others..

  21. larry banks- i'm not the one...
  22. i always thought the c/u title was for 'Midnight brew'..
  23. ..doubtless JV played it at the casino..but i remember it first from Samanthas..deffo northern and pure nostalgia now..
