  1. All of these were £5 for years, no price on quality
  2. thought it said "you ought to stay out one night" but i might be deaf from dancing too close to the speakers.
  3. Don't think you could get a better example of RnB than Bobby Bland, as said before, some examples went too far back and are more jump blues/ RnR than RnB.
  4. Not to my taste, can't stand it! You are probably right, do you understand n. soul then? Mr Godin
  5. Without the Mod scene introducing RnB in this country, there would be no n. soul scene. probably!
  6. Class it as crap! along with alot of other Northern Soul classics. Sixities RnB rules!
  7. Slim Harpo - I'm A King Bee Please let me cum inside?
  8. All these cnuts should join their local line dancing club and stick to it. All this shows they have no Soul!
  9. If you pay my travel exspenses i'll go every week, trouble is at 47, i get the feeling i'm the youngest person in the building
  10. 15 minutes was alright, the other was pure comedy! No mention of the 80s scene? Seems to me Wigan Casino was the death of the true underground movement, certain people mass marketed n. soul for their own ends, all the bull that went with that is back and whats left today. You didn't have to wear n.soul t-shirts or n.soul tats all over you to be into the music? and then the dancing, you do what you want, what did she say , you're missing one step? Everyone dressing the same doing the same dance, stick to line dancing
  11. There is a scene in that film 'Nowhere Boy' where John Lennon swaps a record at the docks, set in the late 50s. When you look at the track listing of 'White Lightning'(CD INSD 5017) , most of the standard covers of 60s Beat groups, were mid to late 50s recordings in the states. Could be old deleted stock records bought cheap, that found there way here, where the music was so much more exciting than anything we had at that time.
  12. Were they not Russ discoveries? big sounds at the time Another time, another place, all i can say, he played many of my faves during the 80s and often got me applauding his sets.
  13. I personaly prefer U.K. labels, it's a piece of history, the quality is better and you know you are getting the real thing. So i can buy more records instead of books on recognising bootlegs.
  14. Poor Comment, always rated him as a top dj. i've had great pleasure with his sets in the past.
  15. Thats why i said 'to my knowledge' thanks for the info Not at all championing boots, esp. lookalikes, been ripped off myself, Much prefer a legit re-issue
  16. How many original artists get any money from the sales of their unknown discs they cut in the sixties. When they sell for huge amounts how much do they get? Puts it into perspective. So what if someone wants to pay £10 for a £1000 record, the artist still won't get anything. The only exception,to my knowledge, would be Ady, Kent Records, who has always played by the rule.
  17. Otis Redding Marvin Gaye Arthur Alexander Tammi Terrel Baby Washington Betty Everett
  18. Looking at the record, i would say it is an ex juke box disc, would have originaly came with a solid centre.
  19. Same in Devon, great source for introducing new sounds, unknown to me.Then buying original 45's at nighters. Although not great quality recordings, which was rectified with the superior Kent releases !
  20. Black Power phrases.probably not used 'cos of all the white stuff played
