A celebration of an event that has always endeavoured to put music first Expect to hear some faves from the last 6yrs... Northern Soul and beyond...!!! Looking forward to 'diggin deep down into that 'Northern' box for this one...got a great little dancefloor here at the Cygnet ripe for action !!!!

On it like a car bonnet !! .. One of those 'names' from the past oft mentioned in revered terms....evoking memories for many !! Looking forward to a busy and 'booming' night...quality rare and classic Northern Soul is on the menu!! OOOHH yes please !!!!!!!!!!!!!

just reflecting back on last Saturday night at the fabulous Cygnet Club ....and it just reinforces why I actually go out on this 'scene'....to hear great music played loudly...simple innit !!!! Last night didn't disappoint !!!! the residents pulled out all the stops and delivered some of what I can only describe as 'turntable beasts!!! ' smiling faces around the room was feedback enough...~then................................. Johnny Beggs nonchalantly steps up...THEN it hit us...the realisation that what we were hearing no one else in the country was hearing.....imagine ALL those events No really...those who know...know. WE all know DJ's who play one offs and exclusives...great for the enthusiasts out there......BUT and i dont spell it with a double TT....probably over half of Johnny's set was exclusive ....to him !!! (oh did I mention QUALITY exclusives.)... yeah really no one else has got them....you cant value stuff like that... in a scene where excellence is oft linked to expensive....then what price those gems he spun .....priceless No IMB crap with his set....it was mostly IHB and only his... He did warn us at the start...venues on that night wont be playing this stuff.............HOW RIGHT HE WAS....and how pleased I was, well we ALL were to be in that room last night ......a mighty fine experience indeed The Cygnet VIBE ? oh he had that in his arse pocket.....with aplomb !!!! Still grinning ........................................................ and I bet I'm not the only one lol We'll be asking Johnny again...and you can take that to the bank !!

The interest is growing fast....the curious are wondering what goes on down at 'The Cygnet'..... lets hope they dont all turn up at once lol Seriously there is plenty of room in the building.....PLUS we have the alfresco roof terrace where we can meet and chill and gaze over the 'bright lights' of town why not RE IMAGINE your Saturday night out.................... here in leafy South Cheshire ...........

Situated in the 'bowels' of a Grade 2 listed building and boasting a fabulous town centre location....here in South Cheshire Features include ..nooks and crannies, rooftop alfresco sit out area ..A welcoming and relaxing entrance/foyer chill out space..to escape the hustle. and bustle of the dancefloor Amazing acoustics and in a completely 'self contained' space....you can really get 'lost in music' in here !! Great news !!...More dates throughout 2024 for this new venture ...please note : These wiill be ALL Saturdays as we listened to feedback.....and have the potential to run a lot later than before. An acoustically friendly venue will highlight some real deal quality sounds...and you can take 'that to the bank' !!!! A photogenic 200yr old town centre building with unique rooftop terrace ...if you like a 'selfie for your socials' then this is the place !!!

Thanks for this @Geeselad and a valid point you raise....You've probably noticed that at some venues... not only the same rare oldies every month in some cases BUT sometimes the same rare oldies that were rare and expensive 40 odd years ago....if ever there was a good excuse to 'move on' this is it But yeah here at FTMNTC we don't go down that route....preferring to 'challenge' the ear of the listener rather than reinforce rare sounds from the past AS you know we've been doing this for years now................................

Whether my experience was different..but from my memory....youth clubs weren't ALL about music...there were loadsa other things going on. Imagine a hormone fuelled teenager finding his feet in the world...northern soul was a small part of growing up in a youth club setting ......going to allnighters at that age is a different story.......................................

AS is the norm..there's a tendency to 'lookback' to the weekend on a dreary wet week I tend to lookback on the FTMNTC events with two hats The first hat being one of 'promoter' Its always important to do a lookback to ensure the event objectives were met...I think as an event we ticked ALL the boxes...the sound was on top form in the Cygnet....those THICK walls and low ceilings really lend themselves to 'loud music' and the diversity of 'loud music' on offer was off the scale...a real 'smorgasbord' of styles...the feedback from those who attended was very positive in nature...thanks all ......for attending and pulling it all together Well done Ted...he got the Cygnet 'vibe' down to a tee......and we knew he would....its no accident we asked him !!! as with ALL our guest DJ's....you'll know we dont just 'pluck' names out of the air to put bums on seats...we'll leave that to the 'bums on seats' events lol Secondly I'll put on the hat of 'enthusiast' ....I've always said (and indeed do the rest of the FTMNTC team)...this is our night out as well....we are enthusiasts also...plain and simple.... So from an enthusiasts angle the selection of music on offer was fantastic...many first time plays there and many forgotten plays.. resurrected to splendid effect.....again as an enthusiast this is just the type of venue to enjoy the diverse playlists that challenge the listeners 'ear'...its a venue that is small,.intimate but gives off a very very positive vibe as the sound 'bounces of those thick walls... The question I ALWAYS ask myself both as a promoter and as an enthusiast..is Would i have been pleased if I had stumbled across this event out of the blue....and didn't know it was on ? The answer is a resounding YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to next month...we'll continue to have guest DJ's that get our 'vibe' ...over the year...watch this space and watch this venue
