  1. Once I was in a real hurry to play the next tune and I just didn't know what to friggin play next ...I just couldn't read the dance floor. ....people were dancing and having a laugh and I already played a few nice tracks obscure, semi knowns, oldies the lot...I was panicking big time... should I play this one or that one...bugger I changed my mind again and again.... my heart beat went bum bum bum.....shit the dance floor is full what the hell should I play.... well before I leave the deck empty I dropped this one ...the intro went ....bum bum bum bum bum bum....fck it was like if someone put a mike one my chest...people looked at each other....most of them recognised the track and wush off the went dancing like mad....I went sdgsjflglkoopk and straight to the dance floor to have dance myself....just back in time to drop the next tune... I thought fck it and I played it again...!!!

  3. Funny, with all that internet malarky (scans & auctions) you can almost trace a very rare record like this from a to b...as it seems to have gone from ebay 14.6.2008 to.... then on sale here on 2.5.2009 and yesterday the same copy went on manship....
  4. Thanx for the info Mark. Grands Prix was also on Tina!!

  11. When I was still living in London I organised gigs for about 2 years with Indie/Mod/Britpop bands and at the aftershow club ``Stereotonic`` we played Northern Soul, Indie, Punk, Funk, Beat, 60's Pop, RnB, Ska, Powerpop, RnR, Reggae....!!! Great fun!!!!
  12. No it's not!!! For someone who comes into either event for the first time it sounds pretty much the same!!!!! Shall we call Rare Soul Events in England Old Peoples Rare Soul Disco in order to differentiate between rare soul events in Europe???? (NO OFFENSE PLEASE!!!) Add a little line on the flyer/ event info/ webside and people know what to expect !!!
  13. But how many times did you comment quite positively on RARE records.... :D .....Do ya have a spare Joe Jama??? Oh my favourite tracks at the moment are the mega expensive and ultra rare ...The Carltons - Ooo Baby- Argo and that Salt & Pepper cheapo!!! RARE IS WHAT YOU CAN'T GET AT TESCO!!!!!!!

  15. I looked at it yesterday as well with Sheb Wooley I don't Belong in her arms K-14165 and Lloyd Green Release me K-14168 being released in Sep 1970.... But the band states it was a hit in North Carolina / Raleigh in 1969.
  16. Where do you get the release date from??? I only seem to find 1969 as a release date! Does anybody got the The Mgm Labels: A Discography Volume 2 ???
  17. Ok, I had this conversation with a fellow collector about the gold blue issue once again!!!! I firmly believe that it's an original from 1969!!!! The label design has been in use at least from early 1969 in the UK and the USA as the Bill Medley/ Barry Ryan With The Majority suggests...or are they boots/2nd issues ???? What do you think????? Embers Watch Out Girl Released 1969... Bill Medley This Is A Love Song MGM.... USA ISSUE!!!!!! UK ISSUE Bill Medley This Is A Love Song MGM Release Date Mar 1969!!!!!!!!! UK ISSUE Barry Ryan With The Majority Love Is Love Released Feb 1969!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. oh...I am just back from work chilling out in the garden, fantastic weather and having a nice cup of coffee... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTj_mm7QVKE.
  20. Fantastic stuff!!! I am suprised though that Guy wasn't aware of the Mod/Scooter/Skinhead szene over in Europe (West Germany, Italy, Spain...) who were into Northern Soul. There were regular events since the early 80's!!! I was on a diet of Punk, Two Tone and a bit of Motown but I was fenced in and didn't know anything about the Northern Szene until just after the wall came down. I would have been blown away by the tracks in 1988!!!
  21. I even once convinced myself that I knew the track which was played while I was dancing but after a quick check with the Dj I found out it was unreleased and never played out before. Thank god I wasn't thinking I've got it in my collection. Anyway, I like to dance me nuts off and prever a good mix of known and unknown stuff!!!!
