  1. You're correct Ian, i got mine blind from Soussan as i did Anderson Brothers, played 'em both at The Cleethorpes Pier Rick
  2. For those of you with a good memory ( or went to the Cleethorpes Pier All Niters) I used to play E & Shandells Gypsy (75/76 era) long befor the likes of Sam etc, hope that helps you out Ta, Rick
  3. both labels same songs but are different recordings, i have both versions, play them and compare and you will hear the difference........... Cheers
  4. I am sorry Rob if i have offended you or any one else on here with the E J Post, that was not my intention, I don't post on here very often but do like to come on site and see what is going on and on occasion share bits and bobs, but i will not be posting on here again and restrict myself to browsing, Would like to take this opertunity to the many friends i have on here that know or don't know me a verry "Happy New Year", All the best to you all, Rick
  5. Having a lazy lie in sat morning with cup of tea (as you do) listening to Danny Baker and in the studio being interviewed is Elton John, (no i am not a fan) but i did buy the Thom Bell Sessions 12" many years back,he talked in depth about his involvement with football which was to be expected and harked back to his music days but it was his pre fame start in music that was interesting, running around with his band in an old van earning £15 a nite backing the likes of Major Lance, Patty La'bell, and Long John Bawldry Any one else catch this? would liked him to have touched on the Thom bell sessions and explain how they came about. strange how the most unlikliest people became connected to our music as never thought of E J as a Soul/ RnB fan but groups like the Beatles/Stone etc were. anyone on here go to any of these early shows that E J was banging away on the piano? i wonder who else was in his band at that time? interesting stuff..............................................................
  6. Ditto that Mike, big in my front room, unusual picture cover and a 10" too which makes it an overall unusual and collectable piece, was very limited on vinyl on its release, think it is deleted now as those that had it have not been able to re-stock, beautiful record all round, Rick
  7. Remember Kat (from Scunthorpe) dancing on the circular dance floor slipping and grabing hold of Chris Jones (Scunthorpe) and ending up in a heap on the dance floor in fits of laughter, great times were had there back in the day
  8. good point, i stand corrected young sir, even old dogs learn new tricks
  9. Some times the small label copies were used with major labels stuck over the top until they were officialy pressed, that is why some records have the old numer AND new number on the run out, sometimes the old number would be scratched out but not always, not saying it happened in this case but this was quite common and would explain the rarity of some local label releases, always worth a look at the run out on your records me thinks
  10. Sure i DJ'D a few times there in the 70's, was this the club that had the raised circular dance floor area ?
  11. Great soul record i remember giving spins over the years at the "Canal Tavern" Thorne (Dearlove days) Modern/crossover nights, "Arties Mill" Modern nights Brigg" and at "Yarmuff" in the collectors sessions. Another "Black Knight" purchase, £80 (back in the 90's) not an easy record to find these days but pure quality, Mines on the red TAM-BOO label 6719 writen by SILVERS. Was not aware of other label colour. Good luck finding a copy as should be in all good collections
  12. I'M NOT TELLIN' YOU (BABY) BY ISAC HUNT (? RECORDS) I'M GONNA SREW WITH YOUR MIND - PRINCE PHILLIPS & THE POSIDRIVES (MFI RECORDS) BEST OF IT WAS MY MATE AND FELLOW DJ THE LATE LITTLE JOHN (BILLY BULLSHIT) WAS HIS NICK NAME BY A FEW THAT KNEW HIM, SWORE HE HAD A DEMO AND ISSUE OF SAID RECORDS AS COVERED UP GOT TO ADMIT I MISS THE PHONE CALLS I USED TO GET FROM HIM (AND HE ONLY LIVED A FEW DOORS AWAY) ABOUT STUFF HE SAID HE'D GOT, PRICELESS
  13. seem to remember as having both copies of this at one time they are 2 different versioms too, someone may be able to put both versions up on as sound file/refo to compare ? Rick
  14. Cheeky monkey, it's brill, might not play it out much these days (nobody asks me to DJ anymore) But gets lots of spins in my front room as for the dust, must have a word with my cleaner, oh crap that's me,..... All the best Rick
  15. I have a minter of this in my collection, anyone know the going rate for it ? Not sure if i would sell it mind you, but you never know, i may be tempted
  16. As mentioned a Jaggers/Richards written song, Stones version always was the best, and is on the Decca album called "Aftermath", another track from the album was used for the intro to 60's mod/pop show "Ready Steady Go" called "I just can't wait" While showing kids riding the " Big Dipper" fair ride, oh happy days
  17. I played this ealy 70's (Probably Cleethorpes Pier) purchaced from John Anderson and i'm sure my copy of brand new day is Nooney Ricket, and latter copies turned up as Norman Rickett, I also have aother track by him as Norman Rickett, It was rumoured the Norman Ricket copies (Brand New Day) were re-issues or boots untill the other titel turned up, anyone have a clue on this one, just curious, thanks in advance. Rick
  18. Music is a cross between "Paint it black" The Rolling Stones" and Larry Williams and Johnny Watson "Too Late" not bad, quite like it in a quaint sort of way
  19. What a good example, a lot of the 12" SINGLES of G F came with a built in JUMP so stuck with the 7" Classic Quality sound, love it
  20. Other than the question of speed 45 or 33 for a 12" singles were aimed at the disco market especialy the longer tracks so as they sounded better (wider groves etc) why is it that SOME 12" singles only use 1/2 of the playing surface for one track, what's that all about, defeats the object so to speak. On a bit of trivia the first 12" single i recolect although it technicaly wasn't a 12" single was a track on the Bob Dylan album Blonde on Blonde the track "Sad eyed Lady of the Lowland" was the whole of one side of a disc on the double disc album, Was this a first or do you know something i don't? Rik
