  5. Hi stan, I bought my copy as a brand new release back in 1996. It Is from a Motown's BLUE EVOLUTION CD and no was not available on vinyl or anything else up until that release on the CD Previously unreleased......Recorded 68/69 According to sleeve notes Great track i have played in my Northern sets (when CD PLAYER AVAILABLE LOL) and in my Modern Sets also as it sits in there quite nicely with the cross over stuff. Was a popular one for me at Arties Mill Soul Nites (Brigg) Near Scunthorpe Back in the day, Still love it and play it. The cd is on the whole is a BLUES CD made up of 20 Tracks, 7 of which are Previously unreleased, Sammy Ward-Mable John-Amos Kilburn-Earl King-Arthur Adams

  11. and another one all but forgotten
  12. In answer to Shuffling' a tune probably all but forgotten, the harder copy before Arista from Mike and Bill........
  13. It did, have to say the sound system was brill, the banks of speakers either side of the stage were taller than me. Big base bins with huge speakers on top of them and rows of the larges Horns i'd ever seen at that time. I think Mary hired them from Road Runner Discos who were Grimsby/Cleethorpes based and hired out equipment, mind you,you needed some wattage to fill the Pier, Was a massive, place, The Blackpool Mecca sound system was very good too, Speakers were built into the ceiling over the dance area if i remember rightly.
  14. And talking of Cleethorpes Pier here is one out of that box!!!!!! You know you Luv 'Em
  15. Yes,Yes,Yes, Have this myself and what a record, Correct! Cleethorpes WOULD have loved this, Right up there with THE CROW A good old fashioned STOMPER!
  16. Bit of a change from me today, an LP Track from 1988, With a lot of interest in the Pioneers 7" My good friend James over the years, This is a Blue eyed Soul Version that myself and Tom Paddison (JC) played as a new release in Sunny Scunny, from the same album "love don't come no stronger than your love" came from Called "For a lifetime" A refreshing change and i hope you enjoy
  17. Chris, it sticks in the mind like it was yesterday ( i wish lol ) and i would have been the tender age of around 25 years old on that clip, Where did all those years go?
  18. Chris,That is such a rare film clip which i do remember, the guy filming was up on the stage with a 35mm camera with a bright light on front (of course no sound in those days hense the dubbed on sound) for years we wondered what happened to this footage until it finally did appear on line eventually. It was filmed during a dance competition at what i believe was one of the anniversaries. For those wanting to spot who was who on the stage area I was the long haired Chappy at 48/50 secs. Mary Chapman Fore front with Husband Colin just behind her At 51/52 secs. Dick Jervis at the Decks with Rick Todd just behind him at 53/54 secs
  19. I think it was just a case of the DJs taste at that time, Colin and Ian were playing much the same New and Obscure New releases as we were at Cleethorpes And mixing it up with the the currant big 60s sounds, We all seemed to be on the same wave length music wise and i suspect that is why Cleethorpes And The Mecca musically was held in such high regard,(we played off each other) A lot of other venues frowned upon this and stayed staunchly 60s (but most relented in the end) due to pressure from people asking for certain record being played elsewhere. Great soul Music is Great Soul Music which ever way you look at it. Cheers Rick
  20. Hi There Kev , Lovely tunes both sides as you say, new to me, very nice, Thank you!
  21. Thanks Chris and Peter for you comments, they are always most welcome and Chris i will see what i can do and will continue to post stuff from that era as for me it was the best, very experimental and nothing fazed me, I always played what i believed in and still do, So this morning i have pulled another one out of that same box, The Wonderful Betty Fikes and passions Prove It Which was also very popular at the Blackpool Mecca. ENJOY! PS The other side of this is sublime SOUL mmmmmm
  22. Here is one outa my Cleethorpes Pier Box of Trix you Never hear these days, The single and the album hard to come by and what an intro that calls you onto the dance floor, Funky Northern at it's best, ENJOY
  23. Pleased you like it, obscure but not rare and on the plus side not expensive.Try to post the not so obvious when i can, more interesting, could do with re-activating me thinks.
  24. Heres one that i heard John Peel play on his Radio Show back in 1981 and promptly bought and covered it up as the Carstairs and it took off straight away, soon uncovered though lol , great days but old Peely new a thing or two, remember him playing Eddie And Ernie track on his show too
  25. This is a record you NEED to play ALL the way through to appreciate it, SOUL MUSIC at its best. kicking off today with a corker, not a dry eye in the the house you understand
