  1. Back to the "Cleethorpes Pier" Niters with the next couple of tunes and a wonderfuly unusual type of record for its time (1965) Very Basic but Funky With It! I can see the bodies on the dance floor now competing with one another with this quirky little number blaring out of the speakers...Magic!
  2. Well time to post something something from my very early days of dee jaying, this double sider is from 1972, i know some of you guys like some of the more obscure left field stuff from my collection and some won't ) I don't mind coz it's all horses for courses but i do hope you enjoy, Rick
  3. Following on from Bruvs RCA choice thought i would bang one up as well, this time more of a beat ballad from the label and a great tune that is not going to cost you an arm and a leg, From Freddie Paris, this is Available on his LP "Loving Mood" or on a 45 RPM, which ever floats your boat, This is "There She Goes", Enjoy, Rick
  4. You''re probably right on that Martyn, It Is a very rare record on orig as you may well know, Check the price on Popsike, but there are still the re-issues ?? (Now Again Records 2003) out there but would suspect these will disappear, Never seen the Rondo copy come up for sale.
  5. Well hope all is well with everyone, Thought it was time for a change today, something fast and funky with some mind blowing Funky Horns and some wailing vocals ( From 1974 )Some will Like Some Won't but that is what this music is all about, Me, I love it, but i love stuff that is just a bit left field and this is up there! Crank it up and enjoy. Rick
  6. Well heres another oneLP Track out of the box from 1974 (Just Sunshine Records USA) From the wonderful Norman Feels, The album is 'Where or when' the track 'You made me feel Better' , Enjoy Rick
  7. Well here we go for another delve into my LP record collection with a track from Rahni Harris & his Family Love ( Emprise Records USA) From the year of 1977 i give you "SYNCOPATED LOVE" Beautiful song, Hope you enjoy, Rick.
  8. Great underplayed Oldie, sounds just right for a reactivation
  9. Well decided to put another up today which again was a purchase from Gary S back in the day, got so many great tunes off that guy. Rare LP with a withdrawn record sleeve, naughty but nice It is by 'The Cult' on Starburst Records (USA), The track is called 'It's Time' from the album 'The Mail Must Get Through' one of those tracks that gets under your skin after a few spins, Nice!
  10. Thanks for that Martyn, nice of you to take the time to make a comment as i like to try and find some thing from my collection a bit different rather than banging up any old oldie, She's a bit Special isn't she ?, still performing nearly up to the end, did so much for Black Music and the Causes of Black/White People. Nice choice that from leon by the way, he has made some nice soul sides and that is just one of them, shame he gets a bit of a hard time as a Disco artist?? but we know there is a bit more to the man than that.
  11. Well, thought i would put another tune up before i go out and do a spot of gardening From the earl 60's this time and another album track, hope you enjoy. From the Nina Simone Album I put a spell on you (USA Philips) we have 'Take Care Of Business"......NICE!..... Enjoy
  12. Here we go with another of my Cleethorpes Spins from the WONDERFUL Willie Tee aimed fair and squarely at the Dance Floor. Another album only track from 1976 called" I can feel it" from the 'Anticipation' (United Artist LP) and it will not cost you a fortune but i'm very surprised how many people not aware of this track when i play it out, Another very nice mid tempo track called Come to me on here too, hope you enjoy , as always comments very welcome, Enjoy!
  13. OK here we go with another sublime piece of Soul Music, this time from my treasured Album collection which would seem to be very hard to locate on original issue these days with re-issues going for silly money. This is one i sometimes finnished my sets with depending how i was feeling at the time. A wonderful record of the highest order which i would defy you not to like and take to your heart (if you don't know it already that is) The wonderful Chris Bartley on lead vocals by the way. Since i have retired spend most time sifting through my records fishing jem's like this out, don't you just love this music? Sit Back And Crank Up The Volume. ENJOY!
  14. Here is one from my Deejing days back in the 90s (Canal Tavern Thorne) as opposed to my Cleethorpes Days/Nites, one i bought off Garry S at 'Black Knight Records', Still have my lists some where and will have to look see how much i paid for it as one sold today for £900. Sitting on my shelf and not in my play box, so maybe have to pull it out for our next Rugby club Soul Nite.
  15. So Gutted by this tragic news, Gutted, 'Don't be afraid' an all time favourite of mine. My heart goes out to his Family and All his Close Friends and it has to be said to his adoring Fans the World Over. R I P The Wonderful 'Bobby Taylor'
  16. Cleethorpes/Mecca 70's Oldie all but forgotten now, Come on, get it back in your oldies box, You know you want to
  17. Top dog records got one for sale on Musicstack £229 + P&P but suppose you have seen that.....
  18. Many thanks for posting this video up, not seen until now. Brings back fond memories of spinning this back in 1976 at my Local Soul Nite in Scunny (Soul Scene) from his USA LP EYES. Was thought to be LP only track for many years as no US or UK release on 45rpm BUT i found a Holland/Dutch release on 7" in a Picture Sleeve same as LP Album Cover with hold on to your Hinney on the 'b' side. Always was a fan of TJW from his Polk Salad Annie and Roosevelt and Ira lee Days back in the 60's
  19. Thanks Roger for the useful extra info, very interesting, bit of a mine field this record collecting, Thanks, Rick
  20. I foolishly sold this some years ago and if my memory serves me correctly the other side ain't at all bad too ta for reminding me just HOW good.....Silly Me
  21. So............my two issues of TIME/RUNNING BACK AND FORTH (GORDY) just a case of different pressing plants for large font and small font. OR.....Was one issued before the other as noticed a small difference in prices depending on which is issue up for sale, ended up with 2 issues over the years as thought i had lost or sold one but as is the case the other turned up so keeping one the other going in a sales box, so which one should i keep, must say i have a soft spot for the Large Font one as it looks older? ONLY thing throws me is the double sided Demo of Time is small font which would suggest First Issue Because it is a Demo OR are we back to pressing plant issue as have to say not seen that demo with a large font, Isn't Record collecting Fun, Or is it ?
  22. Thanks for reply, i don't know how to put a picture up but my Gordy demo is a double A side, TIME on both sides, If you go to Discogs and put in a search for Time Edwin Starr it pulls up all versions including the white demo, Rick
  23. Heres one i think deserves more plays out like a lot of Millie's Tunes from back in the day, a nice sing along feel good soul dancer
  24. I Like this Very nice, Great Tune to put a smile on Yer face on a Sunday Morning, The original Bat Man and Robin Kicking the Jokers Arse with this in back ground jumped into my head immediately ,
  25. Apologies if this discussed before, I have a white USA Demo (Small Font) Also An Issue with Small Font and an Issue with Large Font. (Both USA) May well be just different pressing plants (as is the usual) or did one come out before the other, lets say , one run sells out and following run a font size change. Anyone Know for sure or any thoughts please ? Thanks Rick.
