  4. There are a load of these on Music stack, are there different variations of this CD ? (ERNIE JOHNSON)
  5. That's a Nice Read and a very interesting one, very enjoyable take on what musicians producers and writers are doing from their studio or Bed Room or where ever it may be from or created, Thank you for that insight and opinions on this thread
  6. Sampling - using popular riffts or intros has been a thing that has been happening for many years now to great effect (Like it Or Not ), but do you see it as a good thing or a bad thing ?, are Bands or Musicians being 'Lazy' or just plain "Very Clever" at what they do and see a Hit record probably aimed at a specific Audience whilst being Fans them selves of the Music they Use. Hear is a Great Example, So Let's hear what YOU think! The 'intro' and that 'Sax Lick' will be instant to most of you.
  7. What's the story on the Joe 'Jama' Perales 2001 re- make ****** it's Fab! ****** Love It ******
  8. Haven't Posted anything for a while and have had one of my play boxes out for a in house vinyl session and had forgotten just how good this Robert Banks Produced record is, Yes, Dave Blocker giving it Big Licks and the Backing Girls in Fine Voice, "Nothings Gonna Change Me", Amen to That, Bloody Wonderful..................................................
  9. Just jumping on the thred with this one, Many years ago i had a copy of this and it was more of a Browny Yellowy colour where the Yellow is on the Atco label, it was an issue, was this one the Jamaican copies as mentioned i wonder ? The copy i still own now is a White Demo (Vinyl) It Has Paul Rowans Name Scratched on the run out ( I traded a few records off him backing in the day) he put his name on a lot of his records,The record number on the run out is scratched out both sides and i understand from Paul it was done at the time it was played covered up (The Levers - "My hearts wide open" i think it was) It has all the correct markings left on it, Strawberry with an s in it, an AT and an M or W depending on what way up you look at it and a small LW, It also has PLUG SIDE on the A Side Label for " Bell Bottom Slacks" etc.

This was huge at Cleethorpes Dayers And Niters Mid. 70s coz we used to play it for Mary Chapman Bless her, used to make her smile One of those Instrumentals that sounds Great over a large Sound System Like they had at the Pier, Huge Base - Bins and the biggest horns i'd ever seen!

Yea, That's correct Jack, was great to see the acts live but the place was bloody awful, Seem to remember Tom (JC) and Leroy and the usual Gang were there too.

Yea, that's the one, had a wooden dance floor laid on concrete which was crap to dance on, this was around the time when the country was flooded with the Mirwood label Instrumental backing tracks of well known vocal tracks for the first time.

Have fond memories of Major Lance at the Penultimate All - Nite at the Cleethorpes Pier March 8th 1976, He had his Wife with him, beautiful lady, have a few photographs of them on the stage , along with a few of the Tramps Live at the First Pier Anniversary February 21st 1976, and a signed photograph and single of Tomiko Jones "Spellbound" Aughtographed at the *** 1975 All Dayer at the Winter Gardens***, Violla Wills and Gonzales were there too but for some reason didn't manage to get an Autograph. *** I have a Photo copy from an advert in Blues and Soul Magazine showing 1st anniversary (All-Dayer) At the Winter Gardens as Sunday 26th October (Lincolnshire Soul Club)***? Was Major Lance on at a Big Leeds Soul Doo along with JJ Barnes, Exciters Etc. ? i went to it but for the love of me can't remember if it was a Dayer or All Niter but was early to mid 70's.

Yes they were a very good band for what they were doing at the time, I featured 2 or three tracks by them in my sets back in '75 as New Releases, ones that spring to mind are, "I can understand it" (Womack Cover) and "Use your imagination" both had U.S. Columbia releases as well as their U. K. C.B.S. Release.

  17. Sad news indeed, fine Artist and singer and an album (Sweet Magic ) Debbie records i bought back in the early 80's for 'I'll Do Anything' and 'We've only just begun' and was always eager to play in my set's, Such popular tunes at the time, We are Blessed that he left us some Fine Music to remember him by. Thank You. R.I.P. Lee
  18. I haven't put anything up for a while so here's one that's been lurking' around on my shelves for a long long while and thought yea, this is is worth putting up. From 1963 we have Hannah Dean and You, You, You ( U S Columbia ) Great example of early R'n' B/Early 60's Soul
  19. Spot on Chalky, over dubbing, that is the word i was looking for but for the love of me could not remember it so tried to explain it as simple as i could. Something much used in the music industry.
  20. Hi Dylan and Paul, Always thought this was for example, Singer laying down the vocal then rewinding back and singing alongside the first recording, recording tha also, then repeating tha process for a third time hence now sung in triplicate, just like 3 singers sing the lead on a song together as a group. P.J. Proby used to do a similar thing noticeably on his big pop hit "Hold Me" I'm Pretty sure that Barry White and quite a few other singers used this technique to give the lead vocal a fuller group like sound. I hope this is some help and understand what i am trying to say. Rick
  21. I made a mistake, so seems the track in question is an EXTRA TRACK on the CD version only, So sorry for any confusion i may have caused, Rick
  22. Discogs got some vinyl LP's of the L.P. Timepeace which was released on Talking Loud/Verve Forecast which as far as i know is the only way you will get this track, No 45 single release that i am aware of, They are tucked way amongst the C.D.s so check carefully, think there are some on music stack too.Very nice track. Good Luck, Rick
  23. Hi Jazz, As far as i know that is the case, i bought mine back in 2011 for that one Track, (Syl Johnson Mythological) The Numero group Chicago,IL They did a vinyl album called the complete Twinight singles collection too on a 2 LP Gatefold lp and it was not on that, So it would seem you need the box sets to obtain the single. Hope i have been of some help info wise. Rick
