New release - 2 x Hit and Run 45s - Jo Jo Benson + Bernard Drake
Rick Scott commented on Dewsburyborn's article in News Archives
No worries Mike, was worried that it may have contained something Nasty other than what was Visible (not a pleasant Sight) Better to let Someone Know rather than ignoring it, Cheers, Rick -

SOULMAN58 SAID No idea what year this was, but she was still top notch live. When I see clips like this I wonder how much they would have benefited if we had programmes like this on mainstream TV in the UK when they were at their peak. Or am I just talking through soul tinted glasses? This was 2012 i believe and song "In The Middle of The Game (Don't Change The Play)" was from her 2011 CD "Betty Wright and The Roots-The Movie" Came out as a Single Too on Outta Sight Records Rick

A reminder of the Talented Lady "Betty Wright" Singing Live!!!!

* Was this actually played first? * TOMANGOES SAID Yes It Was, I am Guilty of playing this At The Friendship Inn, Keadby Nr. Scunthorpe Soul Nites which ran between Late 60's late 70's. Long Before Russ Played It, Not proud of the fact it has to be said, Came in a picture Sleeve with a picture of the Ball on a String Thing you fastened to your Ankle spun it round and skipped over it Bought from "Boylans Record Shop" In Conisborough South Yorkshire, A shop brilliant fo New releases and old obscure records which i am sure a lot of the older members on here Would remember, I didn't like the the record at all but my Girl friend at the time Linda Lewis did, so bought it and played it and yes was quite popular with the acrobatic type of dancers, on a visit to the Casino Russ played the Car Horn version and Linda went up to Russ and said My Boy friend's been playing this for ages but without the car horns, he said Impossible this is a SS Record,(think it was on an Acetate from what she described. We visited the next Casino Nite and she took my copy up to Russ to show him my copy And Yes, he had to eat Humble Pie, His face was a Picture, Not very Chuffed it Has to be said....... Rick -

I got my copy from John Anderson Same as Colin Did on one of my regular visits to Soul Bowl, Doesn't really matter who and where it got played First, think about it, if Colin got it on the same visit as me he would have played it first as we were an All-Niter but I won't lose any sleep over it Because we were on the Ball with it Thanks To John. -

Sky Tv - Mike Judge Presents Tales From The Tour Bus
Rick Scott posted a topic in All About the SOUL
Caught one of these Stories last Nite by chance While Channel Hoping looking for something decent to watch and this one was on George Clinton And his Days with Bootsy Colins- Parliament-Berry Gordy- Funkadelic Etc. This one repeated on Monday 19th I believe at 1:30 am but of course you can set your Sky Box Up to record if you are with Sky. The unusual way the series works if the rest are the same it is done in animation and was totally enjoyable and informative, and there are more Soul R'n'B related artists in the series Which can be found on Sky Comedy (also on HD) You Don't have to wait for them to come on normal View you can down load and watch at you leisure on TV & Demand, I Watched on Sky Channel 113 Sky Comedy HD but going to download and watch together and certainly going to watch the George Clinton one again, These may be of interest to members and guests on here. Morris Day-Betty Davis-Rick James And James Brown (They also cover Country) The Rick James and James brown are Two Parters, Rick -

Mary Chapman The Queen Of Northern Soul
Rick Scott replied to Rick Scott's topic in All About the SOUL
You know maybe we could have a thread where people who have funny soul related (or any other subject) photographs in funny or unusual situations and we could submit what we think could have been said or thinking like above two photographs, i'm sure we all have some funny or just strange photographs that would be prime candidates, We could ALL do with a CHEER UP and something to make us SMILE in theses trying times...... Another great Photograph of Mary And Colin (RIP) Alan, Thanks for Posting! Wonder what was going through Colins mind when this was taken coz he sure wasn't looking at the camera, Come on folks, What do you think,Keep it light hearted, I'll go for this to start it off. "Little does she know That a well known record Dealer is round at our house going through her records, and i'll get that Vintage Motor Bike i've had my eye on!" The One above with Colin Fagging it , Mary and Colin at the"Britains got Talent Live Show" Thinking 'That Bloody John Manship Can't Sing!' Needs to stick to finding Rare Soul Records -
Well here is one i'm loving at the mo, Not going to be everybody's cup of tea (So Be kind), fabulously simple JAZZ DANCE TUNE by Emma Jean Thackray with a track called "Movement" from her brand new 12" EP * Great beat and some lovely Horn Blowing and Official video reminding us of how much we are missing being able to Dance and Enjoy one another's company and only a short time into this mess. Turn Up The Volume And Enjoy * Take Care & Stay Safe......... Rick
-
These 'Tunes' i would not be without, full of Cold lol, Just a Cheer up to add to our woes, Hope you don't Mind....Rick

Came across this today (19-3-20) thought it very nice, a track to listen to with the lights turned real low and a glass of wine to sooth the soul, (in my case a cup of tea) Rest of the album a bit so so but this track is real nice and the Gal can sing. From the album 'Stand Up!' By Whitney Shay - Track.... I never meant to love him, hope you like it........Rick
-
Very nice selection there, can i come and live next door to you Thank You, Rick

This site has got so Quite it's Unreal so let's liven it up a bit with a release from The back end of last month on the fab 'Love Monk' record Label with "Sweet Maybe" (Voc. & Inst.) Just love this Nod Back to the Patrick Adams/Johnny Copeland/Cloud one Sound that was sin-ominous with the Scene at The Blackpool Mecca And Cleethorpes. (As Well as other Forward Thinking Venues) On my turntable at home every other day at least, love it, but may not be to every body's taste and i get that. BUT If Boogie - Funk is your Thing "Crank Up The Volume And Dance" For now, Thanks For Listening, Stay Safe & Well....... Rick
