10 Days down the line and still can't get my head round this Sad Loss of Angie Stone (and all of the other loses this year has thrown at us) Such a Talent & A Sweet Sweet Lady. I Was Lucky to be DJ'ing in my Home Town of Scunthorpe Last Nite (Sat 8th) and Opened My set with "I Wish I Didn't Miss You" The Remix, asking the Crowd to join me in Paying Our very own Respect to the Lady in the only Way That As Soul Fans we could, With their Feet On The Dance Floor, they did not disappoint, followed by a round of applause (not for me) but for Angie

Yea, but someone told me it was coming from your Microwave Oven

Arthur Prysock recent If i was a boy release
Rick Scott replied to Rick Scott's topic in Look At Your Box
Just for the Record (yes i will take that as a pun Ha Ha) It was far better than lot of Pop Drivel that was played on the Scene over the years and judging by that from comments on the thread so far, Dave Thorley Played it on the Dodgy Acetate,Chalky and myself were playing it off the LP and like me must have had many people up to the Turntables to see what was being played, Rob5airborne was Chasing it to find out it's identity and been Bugging him for over 30 years Rated it as a 'Absolutely Blinding Track' Blackpoolsoul has been trying to gleam some information on Allan Scott and seems there is just nothing out there about him, but thanks for all your efforts **So yes, for a 'Quality Pop Record' it certainly got the Juices Flowing Back Then & Now It Would Seem** -

Too True, great shame as it would have made a welcome official 7" release but hey! was not to be, but loads of other singers felt differently and did their version/take on it. But for me Allans is the best version for me. -

Rick Scott replied to De-to's topic in All About the SOUL
Terrible News as one of my Favourite singers from The 60s and beyond. Condolences to All His Family And Friends, may you RIP Frankie, and Thank You for the Memories of your Wonderful Songs & Music. -
Wouldn't dream of it Roburt as i think that sounds like it is as close as we are going to get on an answer to my question, so thank you so much for that, most helpful Rick
-
Thanks all you guys for your help and contributions. would still like to know why a studio would make metal tin plate discs that you can actually play rather than say, acetates etc, for what purpose? but i think only the people that made them would have the answer to that one
-
Just Re Played all the discs mentioned and sound quality is good, all very early 60s soul, all but one are down beat and nothing great bar the Phil - Wood 093 (Pi Pi 859) Which is a not a too bad up- tempo Gospel type dancer with male vocal with "I DON'T KNOW" sang a lot with Female singers interjecting ,Some body help me - Sweet Jesus, and the Devil gets a mention or two The record starts with twanging lead guitar and male singer singing (Not counting in) ONE - TWO- THREE - FOUR over the guitar with a couple of seconds between each number sang before getting into the I Don't Know etc Routine, i'm trying to be helpful here as not techi minded enough to put a sound bite up but somebody into Gospel might recognise it as it best of the bunch, So still curious about why the discs are cut on this silver plate so that they can be played ? I did find one record on Discogs On Select O - Hit Label By The Right Combination (s-o -h 023) A) Everything i do B) How can your heart be free (when your love belongs to me Mastered at Master Craft Pressed by Plastic Products B side better side of the two but not great.

Just for the Record All these Discs ARE Playable And yes Roburt you are Correct, Gary Based in Sheffield With his Black Knight Record Lists until he became rather ill with MS i believe They are nothing but metal so just a silver looking disc so i only played them the once as wouldn't do the stylus much good.

I have 5 metal Plate playable One Sided Discs that i acquired from Gary S (Black Knight Records) Many years ago when i went over to purchase Vinyl off him, if i remember rightly he gave them to me. They are 12" Dull metal Discs on Blank side and Shiny Silver on the A side, with the record cut like a 7" single in the Middle. They are in brown card board sleeves all of which have an address and Phone number on and the proposed Record number on each enclosed Disc. Would love to know if anyone else has come across these on their travels or know the why's where's and when's on them. They certainly are unusual, A shame i can't take Pics of them so given as much info as i can with what vi have, so over to you Guys for any info or ideas on them. Thank You In Advance...Rick PLASTICS PRODUCT CO. Just spotted 9 Huge Daddy Long Legs in a Huddle outside under my Kitchen Windowsill so whether there is an increase in those i'm not sure but i have never seen that many all in one small space, very large bodies and longest legs i've seen.
-
Yea not too bad Peter Thank You. Only speed i did was on my SX200 (within The Law Of Course) Didn't Drink or Smoke (still Don't) Couldn't afford it even if i wanted to any way as Spent all my hard earned cash on Vinyl As You Do Ha Ha
-
Yep! can't fault you on that one HF, I seem to remember as did it myself on the old double BSR turntables if you tweaked about with the speed select button in-between 33 and 45 rpm you could actually maintain a reasonable speed if that makes sense
-
The Story goes his better 1/2 played it at the wrong speed and he over heard it being played and his ears pricked up and the rest was history, he had it covered up but for the love of me can't remember as who by or what ?, keep thinking Esther Phillips for some reason....
-
Hi Leslie I Think it was John Manship i first heard play it at the Cleethorpes Pier , of course back then We didn't have Pitch control so was either one or the other, now of course we are able to Tweak records fast or slow without making them sound like Pinky And Perky or Lee Marvin

Many Thanks Mike, very much Appreciated

Don't see any Starlings any more like i used to when they were considered Unwanted Greedy pest birds and the tiny birds as mentioned a rarity, never see Thrushes at all, not done for years, Put bird food out for them and remains untouched, What seems to have taken over are Sea Gulls and i live 30 miles from the coast, Wood Pigeons, Doves, Crows, Magpies, grey squirrels i get a regular visitor (hedge hog) every nite for the bananas i top and tail at breakfast and throw on the back garden grass in the morning, my neighbours have female a cat (and just bought another kitten ) and i get visits to my garden from 5 different cats daily because the neighbours leave food out for their cat while out at work so the cats get free feeds which doesn't help, so sad picking up dead birds around nesting time along with mice and voles, very depressing as a wildlife lover.
