  1. I used to have the 10 minute version of 'Do I Do' as an emergency piss record.
  2. Or lifelong middle aged collectors who are reluctant to pay silly money for records. This past couple of weeks I've bought 18 LPs from Discogs, 14 of which cost more for packaging and postage than the record itself, it's starting to piss me off a bit now I have to say. Roger
  3. It's my own fault as I didn't check his rates prior to buying, but when I did check his rate it was 11 - why he would up it by 1.10 is a bit puzzling.
  4. On Monday I bought an LP from Discogs, off a guy in Norway, for 11 and he charged me 12.10 for postage. Fookin' robber.
  5. I once bought Noddy Holder a bottle of Budweiser in the Atlas Bar down Deansgate in Manchester in 1998.
  6. It's a great tune and I'm pleased it's done well for you, but it's like you're sticking two fingers up to buyers who don't buy vinyl, I think it's very strange and somewhat narrow attitude for any record company to have in 2012.
  7. On a very high proportion of LPs I've bought this year, the postage from the USA has been more than the price of the record!!
  8. Sorry I can't do it on cue, I'm not a comedy machine. I've actually had a look at the ones on your site, not too many I don't have to be honest, which is nice.
  9. Oh yes we do. Just not at your prices.
  10. And as long as the old people are around, the northern/rare soul scene can't, and won't, move on, not in any respect because the baggage and often outdated outlook on it all will last longer than their tattoos.
  11. I'll give you £20 to smash the f*cker into tiny pieces!!
  12. I think what people also tend to overlook is that probably 95% of people in any given venue don't actually give a toss who's actually playing the music so long as it's music they like or can dance to. Roger
  13. And it's only ever incestuous if you're on the outside pressed up against the window like a Garfield.
  14. Some DJ's play the same CD comp every set, even in the same order.
  15. And conversely, there are DJ's who are very good and capable but don't get booked simply because the promoter doesn't like them. DJ'ing has its moments but when you think about it, and it took me 20 years to finally come to this conclusion, all things considered and the needless grief and negativity it brings, it's a pretty rubbish hobby for the most part. Roger
  16. Here's a genuine thought about all this lot. All 'scene ethos' blah blah aside, I understand all that, heard a million arguments for and against a million times, but at the end of the day, isn't a thread like this started because a DJ has had his ego bruised because he hasn't had the chance to show off his prize possessions? I think it is but no way would anyone be big enough or man enough to admit it. Roger
  17. I believe it was this pub. Turns out they were boots after all. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-communities/kirkby/kirkby-news/2012/06/28/explosion-and-fire-guts-liverpool-pub-100252-31279515/
  18. These two are showing what's 'upfront'!!
  19. Well either way you can guarantee there'll be a few noses out of joint when it's announced. We only ever used to travel down to see certain acts, such as Phil Perry, Incognito etc., seeing as it's under an hour away, but the weekend overall had little appeal to me - aside from the acts, the best part was watching various factions in that big foyer that stunk of hot dogs, it was like a special needs convention.
