  3. I heard they've renamed that event now - The Hamburg Botschaftbrettfrankfurtershow.
  4. I wouldn't mind my Brotherly Love CD returned that never came back from lending it to you for that Modern Room comp a few years ago Kev!!
  5. I actually laughed out loud when I saw that! As a drama though, regardless of the NS connection, I thought it was pretty weak, though I do like Marigold as an actor Roger
  6. I don't think it's self-importance because let's face it, a large proportion of the scene haven't exactly aged well have they, so they're not going to want their road-map grids splashed all over the internet, especially when the photos are good quality, so really it's not surprising people ask for their photos not to be put up is it?
  7. But that was because you took a photo of him getting across another woman behind the bins outside.
  8. The aggression from people is what I find so puzzling, but it can usually be put down to them possessing an IQ which numerically is smaller than their shoe size in most instances so it's never worth getting into it with them, best to just smile at them and carry on so it makes them even madder.
  9. I actually gave offered her three £ coins and said 'here's your bus fare'
  10. "If you're only playing modden I'm going home".
  11. I think there's more than a few who would, DJ'ing is probably the most two-faced pastime there is. Only this year I had one guy absolutely slating the arse out of a promoter/DJ, calling him fit to burn, only to then go and DJ alongside him, and then somebody else ripping a venue to bits to me, saying how shit a venue it was, and then I find out he's been booked to play there soon. Pathetic really. Roger
  12. Was just listening to the Soul Brother 2-on-1 CD of these on the way to work this morning as it happens. Class LPs.
  13. Jackie Wilson 'Beautiful Day' 1973 Brunswick LP and Lou Courtney 'I'm In Need Of Love' 1974 Epic LP would be my first submissions, not a substandard track on either of them. Roger
  14. I wouldn't pay 60 pence for that pile of rubbish, one of the most grossly overblown and over-rated records I know of.
  15. The fact he asked for intelligent comments and then made that statement was the icing on the cake!
  16. I love this forum and the fact that comments like this are actually serious!!!
  17. Probably my favourite track on the album.
  18. Nahhh, this is the only way to own it: https://www.discogs.com/Harold-Melvin-And-The-Blue-Notes-Featuring-Sharon-Paige-The-Blue-Album/master/126575 Because you the get the marvellous "If You're Looking For Somebody To Love" as well.
  19. My responses are determined by the manner in which people make requests, if they act like aggressive muppets then they get the appropriate response - 99% of the time I'll play requests but there are occasions when there are tunes which have had the arse rinsed out of them and I never want to hear them again so I have no problem saying to someone that I refuse to play it. And surely the DJ should know best, otherwise what's the point of booking one, in my personal view the tail shouldn't wag the dog, which it seems to do such a lot these days. Roger
  20. Agreed in the main Ged, but occasionally it needs to be done, particularly if you need to get the floor back, but in the main I'm with you on that, if anyone ever asked me for something I didn't like, depending on my mood, I'd either give them 'sorry I don't have that with me' or more often than not a flat out 'sorry I'm not playing that shit'
  21. Longest one I've done is 5 hours in the Lounge one Sunday afternoon at the Birmingham Hilton Luxury Soul Weekender a few years back, I still didn't want to be dragged off.
