  1. Approximately 394 threads on the same subject ago, Chalky.
  2. A somewhat incorrect use of tense there Chalky lad!!
  3. It's not but that's never mattered with records like this in the past!
  4. Couldn't tell you Ray, sorry, but as I say, it's popular so no doubt somebody on here will be able to give you more info on it.
  5. It's one of those isn't it, personally I think it's horrible pile of pop dance garbage, but it's popular track for many on the northern soul scene, so the value, as with everything of this nature, is whatever anyone is willing to pay for it - I've no doubt if anyone was selling one they try and prize around £70 out of people for it, probably more. Roger
  6. Not being technically minded, out of interest, would cramming more tracks into the 7 inch format affect the sound quality in any way? Roger
  7. I know mate, but it's interesting to see a different take on it. Being a graphics bod, it's great to see those old ads as well, always a source of inspiration for me, especially the typography they used to use. Roger
  8. In all my years of collecting I've never heard of these. Nice one mate, interesting stuff. Roger
  9. For my money, Darrow Fletcher's version of 'Rising' is the best of the bunch, it's that voice that takes the song to another level, awesome.
  10. Anything you can swing yer pants to, tunes like this do it for me every time.
  11. Just give it a shout on my Facebook page. Every little helps and all that. Roger
  12. The A-side is great, I played that in my Solar Radio show back in March 2011 when the CD was first released: https://soulsorts.blogspot.co.uk/2011_03_01_archive.html Top 'boogie' tune, love it. Roger
  13. There isn't one single promoter who puts on an event 'for the greater good of the scene', it's ALL done for their own ends, 'ovo' or otherwise. Get real. Roger
  14. Brilliant, it was odds-on that that would be your ultimate answer to all those reasoned replies . If I was to write a play about all that's ridiculous about the northern soul scene, you would be my number one inspiration for the lead character, good work.
  15. It's like calling everyone south of Watford a 'cockney'.
  16. The term 'Bootleg' when used in relation to vinyl 45rpm records means that the said item is a product of the practice of counterfeiting. Any record that is released legally, regardless of it not being the first time of release, is not a counterfeit, therefore it is not a bootleg. If you prefer to play first issues, fair enough, but that doesn't make every reissue a 'boot', that's somewhat of an extreme view in my opinion. Cheers Mr. Logic
  17. Dee Dee Warwick's up there for me, especially this: Awesome.
  18. Wow, shocked and saddened by that news, he was a top man, gone far too young, very very sad indeed, my thoughts go out to his family and close friends. Roger
  19. If you're talking Troy Johnson, I'm sure that was at Yarmouth, wasn't it?? The Cala Grans were where I was so pissed I tried to pay you multiple times for records.
  20. 'Amazing Love' is rather splendid also. But you probably already know that.
  21. As a lifelong LP collector I've been guilty of that countless times, only concentrating on one or maybe a couple of tracks and not investigating all the other cuts properly, but I think that's a good thing because I've approached DJ's at places like Great Yarmouth Soul Essence to ask about a track being played only to find I've had the LP for years! But as I say, that's no bad thing because a) it means I've discovered a quality new tune and b) it hasn't cost me anything!! The best one I ever had in this scenario was a track called 'Hey Big Brother' which I had on a tape that somebody had given me in the 90s, just an absolutely wonderful midtempo 70s tune, but the tape had no track listing and I searched high and low for years trying to find it, buying LPs 'blind' because they had song titles 'Brother' or 'Big Brother' but I had no joy. Then one day I was off work and pulled out a load of LPs just to track and put on the Opus 7 LP from 1979 on Source which I'd bought 12 months earlier at Yarmouth for the stepper 'I Love You' and another track called 'The Way You Move Me' and as I looked at the track listing saw the track 'Hey Big Brother' and I thought no f*cking WAY!!! So on it went, the first bars kicked in and my bloody jaw hit the floor, what a dolt, had my biggest want in the collection for a year without knowing it!! I think that day was the one and only time I've done an actual cartwheel in my living room. Roger
  22. Two killers I've played in LP-only sets many times over the years Kev, 100% perfect 70s soul music for me, and the Notations without fail gets people up to the decks asking what it is and after showing them the LP cover the response is practically always 'I've got that LP but never played that track'! Roger
