  1. Actually a different show that went out on Solar, Nick - I wasn't too well and couldn't record this one in time so they transmitted a repeat show from October. Thanks for the feedback mate, it's always appreciated, and yes, I'll have to dig that Sid The Kid LP out and have another listen to that track you mentioned, it doesn't ring a bell with me. Cheers Roger

  3. Times must be hard if you're selling your playbox stuff.
  4. Possibly Mike, she's just got a very familiar face, I thought I may have seen her as a backing vocalist on the telly or at a concert at some point.
  5. She has a very familar face, very familiar indeed, but I don't recognise her name. Has she ever done any solo work or been involved with other bands, or is she a long term background vocalist?
  6. I think there are many many people on the soul scene who should ask themselves that question seriously - for a number of reasons I asked it of myself quite a while ago now and am glad I did because it put a lot of the scene/forum crap into perspective for me and made me realise that the stuff that many of us get embroiled in at some point or other, by choice or not, isn't worth the grief it can bring, especially as for the most part it's just a hobby and leisure time pursuit that should really only be enjoyed. It's a simplistic view, but it works for me nowadays.
  7. The fact that forums make so many people fall out when never any real reason because if all contact was 'real world' or person to person it would hardly ever happen.
  8. That's up there with the best stuff I've ever heard from you, Ian, absolutely superb mate, love it. Roger
  9. Bobby Hutton 'Lend A Hand'.
  10. What's an Eco trip? A ride in a car that has a low CO2 emission?
  11. He's been around for years, top artist: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raphael_Saadiq His earlier work with Toni Tony Ton is much much better than this latest retro effort imvho, though it probably wouldn't have the same appeal for the majority on here.
  12. Is that a serious question???
  13. I remember doing a car booty a few years ago and right at the end when we were just trying to offload the shite that was left, an old dear came and looked on our table and asked about one of those plastic things you put on your draining board for your cutlery and asked me how much so I said '20p' and she replied 'Will you take 10p'? I let her have it for nothing.
  14. It wasn't a criticism Ian, quite the opposite in fact, it had me in mind of the 'Reset To Zero' track from last year. And anyway, what would you rather have - a tune like this getting play, say, on Radio 2 or TV and becoming successful in a commercial and financial sense for you, or it being accepted as a great soul record by a small number people who post on Soul Source? I'm sure I know what I'd prefer if I'd made and produced it. Roger
  15. Wow, somebody else in my thread, I think I'll print out your post and frame it, Nick!! I'm sure Mister Randle will be somewhat more house and 'suvvern' than me but will be quality as always no doubt. Roger
  16. I thought it already did about 30 years ago?

  18. If it's anything like the James Day 'Don't Waste The Pretty' seven that he was involved a couple of years back, Al Mason won't have seen a penny from its sales.
  19. He's on Jazz FM: https://www.jazzfm.com/up-close/shows/peter-young/
  20. Probably because he's listened to it . . . .
  21. Just had a call from Ralph Tee saying that he's been hearing all kinds of things about rumours that Expansion/Passion are going bust because of the collapse of the Pinnacle Distribution company, and also because of it the Hilton Weekender won't be going ahead. I've been asked to state that any rumours to this effect are categorically not true and although it hasn't been Passion Music/Expansion's best week, the collapse of Pinnacle Distribution won't affect the running of Expansion/Passion Music and the company are still in business and will remain so for the foreseeable future. Any Passion Music/Expansion stock can be ordered directly from Passion Music - their phone number is 0208 867 9361 or if anyone needs confirmation as to what's happening, then Ralph's asked me to give out his direct email which is ralph@expansion-records.co.uk It also goes without saying that the Hilton Weekender will not be affected in any way by the collapse of Pinnacle Distribution and will be going ahead as planned.

  23. Can't the same be said about Wigan Casino as a venue? It doesn't stop people, 27 years after it died and became bereft of life etc. etc., banging on about it on a daily basis on here!!
