  1. Why do DJ's always try to go one better in threads like this!! 'Put Our Heads Together' is a top moddensolestomper, always a floor filler.

  3. Watched that last week, three times. Comedy genius.
  4. The only shame is that DJs don't have the sense to play music from CD.
  5. The B-side 'No Stronger Love' is absolutely brilliant.
  6. Only if Soul Sam plays them. And only if they're released on vinyl, which accounts for about 0.0002% of new releases nowadays.
  7. As are plenty of so-called 'modern' fans. I've given up caring about it now Sean, leave 'em to their ignorance mate, in my experience it's been a long time since the modern soul scene was music-led. Buy your own tunes and enjoy 'em, it's the only way.
  8. Surprising as it may seem, there's actually a modern soul scene that does play new releases. Radio shows as well, believe it or not. Who'd have thought it eh?
  9. She's more than a soul singer than Dusty Springfield ever was.
  10. Don't know if it was on a 45, but it's not the only killer track on the album, there's another three or four brilliant tracks on it.
  11. The third best soul DJ from there I can think of!!
  12. No it's not, "Him" is Kenny Thomas' best and that would be because it's the best British soul track ever made.
  13. Still playing seven inch singles on a soul scene in 2009 is the equivalent of the Premier League still using laced up leather casers.
  14. Has anyone who didn't DJ in some form or other, or has a collection of vinyl and believes they should be a DJ, ever started a thread of this nature?
  15. Woods Empire 'Universal Love' The Duncans 'Let Me Be'
  16. Has that Livesey boy logged into your account again?
  17. Russ, as the old saying goes mate, a dog knows its own tricks best!
  18. Absolutely, Russ, and especially if it can mask a rubbish mix!
  19. To be honest, the mixing scenario has never bothered me when listening to a DJ playing house in a modern room, granted a crap effort at mixing can be amusing, but for me as a person of 'modern' persuasion, what has always been lacking with the vast majority of modern DJs who play house is their inability to actually pick a decent song and choosing their sets based solely round the beat and whichever mix of a track fits in with what they're already playing. Personally I've always been, and still am, a lover of quality soulful dance/house music but only if the track is based around a decent melody and song structure and would far rather listen to a DJ who's crap at mixing but at least has the ear to pick great song after great song in a set, rather than somebody who can make them all join up without you being able to hear where but all that's coming out of the speakers for an hour is a boring dull thud thud thud that only a handful of pill popping wizzing off their tits dancers are sweating their arses off to. 20 minutes of house music in any one set in a modern room is more than enough for me anyway, what say you, Mister smoothmixin'onelinepostin'soulbowllovin' Simon M(ixmeister)?

  21. Did I? This music lark's all just a blur to me nowadays Jocko, I don't listen to anything properly. I wish I'd never started DJ'ing on't'internet and Sky telly wireless sometimes mate.
  22. I'll try in future, writing lines on the virtual blackboard as we speak mate!
  23. I stand corrected, apologies. I must have just ignored the 2008 one because the first two were so poor.
  24. No, there's been two plus a couple of special editions of his second one with extra tracks hasn't there? I've wasted my money on both of them Sean, he's got a decent voice but his material is very weak imvho mate. Roger
