Is It Acceptable To Do A Soul Night With Cd's
Roger Williams replied to a topic in All About the SOUL
Yes, tell somebody dying of heart failure "I'm sorry mate, the money we could have raised to go towards helping you have a longer life won't actually materialise now because we weren't allowed to hold our event because the format from which we would have played the music wasn't acceptable to 20 or so people on a soul music forum, sorry you'll just have to die quietly now, but Bazabod sends his regards and says KTF so take solace in that". -
It counts as a lucky escape, Wayne, it's shite.

Has anyone got an original vinyl copy of this they'd be willing to sell me at a reasonable price please? Please.

I'll have a dabble in this one if it's OK, Cliff? Roger

Eddy Edmondson Solar Radio Show 22 November
Roger Williams replied to Roger Williams's topic in All About the SOUL
Cheers Nick, at the end of the day mate it's not about being the 'I am', it's all just really really good soul music that I'd like people to hear because I'm sure they'd like it as well, same as any DJ/podcaster/uploader, you know the score. Roger -
Eddy Edmondson Solar Radio Show 22 November
Roger Williams replied to Roger Williams's topic in All About the SOUL
Cheers Steve, bit of a waste of time posting these things on here for most of us, regardless of how decent the music might be, but hey ho, we still persevere for some reason. Regards the Soulsorts in the House, I did a volume 8 a couple of months ago but wasn't very happy with it when I listened , I'll do another one soon I'm sure. Roger -

Not so much got into it, James, but since the late 90s the internet and the forums have certainly put me in touch with a lot of great people who I now class as friends, not just in the UK but worldwide, most of whom I would never have met had it not been for the forums etc., and also it's enabled me to find and acquire music I wouldn't ordinarily have go into the collection, so that's very much the plus side. The network sites are a bit like a credit card, if you use them wisely they can work very well for you, but if you let them take control they can work against you, quite badly sometimes as both you and I have found to our cost. The real downside though is the often needless negativity they can bring. The key is to not take it all too seriously imvho. Roger

Jack Ashford - I'll Fly To Your Open Arms
Roger Williams replied to Ian Dewhirst's topic in All About the SOUL
"I'll Fly" is quite well known amongst us little LP collectors Ian, great track, always the killer cut from the LP for me. Roger -
Good idea, that should get at least two people joining in!!

Soul music has never stopped being made.

Richard Darbyshire - This I Swear ( 7" Only )
Roger Williams replied to Shaunfitz's topic in Record Wants
Excellent quality UK pop music, you should check out the Knuckles and Morales mix on the twelve, it beats the 7 inch version hands down in my opinion (though I realise it won't fit in your sevens box) He used to live in a box, he used to live in a cardboard box. -
Wasn't the album called 'Just Enough To KEEP Me Cool'? I've always had it in my mind that was the title, though it was 25 years ago so I'm probably wrong. 'Being For Real Is Where It Is' was always my favourite from the LP.

Oh my word that's truly awful news. Didn't know Alan that closely but met him a few times and had some good conversations with him, both in person and 'virtually' and always without fail found him a very friendly, warm and welcoming bloke with a huge knowledge of soul music. What a sad, sad loss of a true gentleman. Sincere condolences to all his family and close friends. Rest in peace, Alan. Roger
