  1. Have to admit, that 'LP only if not on 45' 'rule' is a new one on me. You really couldn't make some of this stuff up could you! Roger
  2. Doesn't it count if you have the LP playing on the decks with the arm up at the same time you're playing the CD . . .
  3. The title track to this LP is OUTSTANDING! Roger
  4. I love my LP OVO sets at the North Lancs Soul Festival Morecambe Weekender as well mate, looking forward to the next one at the end of the month. Also my radio shows now are primarily LPs tracks. I love me LPs I do, always have, always will. Cheers Roger
  5. A podcast can be as long as you want it to be. Ones done via radio shows are generally two hours, but if you're just going to do a podcast of music or a standalone podcast, then you might want to do it so it'll fit on a CD for people to play in the car. Podcasts can either be downloaded as an mp3 or they can be streamed in real time depending on where you upload it to. I do all my podcasts on https://www.podomatic.com - when you start out it's free and you get a certain amount of storage/download bandwidth, but if/when it gets popular you'll find that won't be enough so there's options to go 'Pro' and pay for the privilege, which works out about $15 a month, which isn't too bad. Worth checking out I'd say. Cheers Roger
  6. Yes, but you're not a northern soulie as I would define one, you're just a bloke with dodgy taste in music.

  9. Always used to do new music radio shows, but a few months ago I changed tack for a number of reasons and now do a weekly two hour show consisting of quality 70s and 80s tracks, mainly LP cuts, which may be of a bit more interest to the good folks of this fine forum. Or maybe not as the case may be. All shows podcasted weekly, this is the first one: Classicsoulradio.biz Show 1 - Sunday 12th February PLAYLIST: Leroy Hutson - Lucky Fellow (LP: Hutson 1975) Lou Courtney - Somebody New Is Lovin' On You (LP: I'm In Need Of Love 1974) Reflections - She's My Summer Breeze (LP: Love On Delivery 1975) Notations - Take It Slow (LP: Notations 1975) Impressions - You Can't Be Wrong (LP: Loving Power 1976) Nancy Wilson - Now (LP: This Mother's Daughter 1976) Donny Hathaway - Flying Easy (LP: Extension Of A Man 1973) Black Ice - Postcard Love Affair (LP: I Judge The Funk 1979) Leon Ware - Love Will Run Away (LP: Inside Is Love 1979) Nature's Divine - I Just Can't Control Myself (LP: In The Beginning 1979) Natural High - I Think I'm Falling In Love (LP: Natural High 1 1979) Paulinho Da Costa - Let's Get Together (LP: Happy People 1979) Bobby Thurston - Sweetest Piece Of The Pie (LP: Sweetest Piece Of The Pie 1978) Main Ingredient - Save Me (LP: I Only Have Eyes For You 1981) Mighty Fire - Sweet Fire (LP: No Time For Masquerading 1981) Sandra Feva - Just To Be Close To You (LP: Savoir Faire 1981) Alton McClain & Destiny - Answer To My Prayer (LP: Gonna Tell The World 1981) Earth, Wind & Fire - My Love (LP: Raise! 1981) The Emotions - There're Never Be Another Moment (LP: New Affair 1981) Herbie Hancock feat. 10. I've waited about 15 years for a northern soulie to be honest enough to say that, fair play to you mate. Roger
  11. It's the old 'what is modern soul' chestnut, Mark, it's been discussed many many times both on here and other forums. All irrelevant really mate, good music is just good music. Roger
  12. Pete all time classic 'I'd rather listen to a blank disc than modern' is still etched on my memory.
  13. Mark, you could check you my last few shows here, all 'modern' in the 70s and 80s sense of the word: https://soulsorts.podomatic.com Roger
  14. As well as "Wanna Be Where You Are", "You're So Empty" and "Why Do I Love" do it for me as well. Roger
  15. You've quoted me but I didn't 'have a go' at anyone, I just questioned that his post was more applicable to a collector rather than a DJ, no more than that.
  16. Anyone can call themselves a DJ and play for an hour with original vinyl 45s and still be rubbish, I've seen it plenty of times. Original vinyl doth not a DJ make. That's a quote from the Rare Soul Bible that is.
  17. Isn't that a collector?
  18. Plenty of old boots though!
  19. Thinking about this, if that was the case, would the 'originals only' scenario come into play here? The DJ can only have sex with somebody who actually went to the Torch or Wigan?
  20. Simon Murray goaded me into saying it mate. Now there's a interesting concept eh? Taking up DJ'ing on the Northern Soul scene to get laid.
  21. Whereas with Ian Dewhirst it's the other way round.
  22. Very sad news indeed, didn't know Max that well but DJ'd alongside him in the early days of Lin Taylor's Soul Underground gig 9 years ago and found him to be a really nice bloke. Condolences to all his family and close friends. Rest in peace Max Roger
  23. One of the truest statements I've read on here for a long time, 60s dance music, that's all it is.
  24. I don't like any reggae at all. It's all shit. This record's only being hyped by Lee Jeffries on rarenorthernsoul.com anyway to generate sales isn't it? Same as that Lisa Stansfield 831 was hyped as something along the lines of 'the biggest modern soul dancer ever', which surprisingly enough was met with some mild amusement by a few of us 'Modern Knobheads'. The Beres Hammond is pretty good imvho but one of those records which is the aural equivalent of eating a chinese meal. Roger
  25. Bollocks, sorry folks, been chocka this last few days, didn't post them when I said I would (obviously!) and haven't been near a post office during office hours since. Will leave a note for self to shoot out at lunchtime regardless tomorrow with them, hopefully it'll be worth the wait. Apologies again for being a big rubbish. Roger
