  1. this some right fookin saddos on here . if you want scarring for life gerra fookin tattoo
  2. cheers matty as per neo SMILE
  3. cheers mate we all have our own perspective of the scene ,personnally stopped doin niters becos of the music policy at the few I attended love the w/enders though .also attend many scooter do,s and w/enders and find that they adhere to what you would call oldies, know quite a few djs and think most are great guys and girls ,,also know collectors who unassumingly trawl the planet to get their music, this might just be cynical old me but Im exspecting one day a n/soul dj to apppear on Im a celebrity gmooh. and I for one believe the only persons worthy of cult status are the artists. djs do a job and as in most proffesions theres good ,bad and indifferent, but for me djs arent the deciding factor when choosing a venue to attend.. music policy is more important
  4. KERWRONG I am a dinosaur but not yet extinct
  5. which quote are you quoting unless you are an aspiring big name dj I werent having a go at you .you listen, dance and attend the venues that play the music which you like .northern soul comprises a lot more than 50-100 tracks. yes your first statement is correct ,but tbh there aint much that is bright shiny and new which imho is worth listening to I am not seeking or wishing to find the holy grail of soul I am happy with what Ive got sorry if this upsets anyone Im ktf and not for re inventing the wheel
  6. as a paying punter I attend venues and its usually the big name djs who spoil it for me by playin track after track of obscure music and believe because they deem it as monster/awsome we should be gratefull for having it inflicted on our lugholes
  7. here we go ,the cult of the dj as come forth , so if your loaded an have all the time in the world to chase up obscure ,rare music .people should be honoured and chase these fookers the length and breadth of the country, IMHO a dunt think so
  8. one shouldnt really name and shame
  9. had ter look this one up and still puzzledEsoteric knowledge, in the dictionary (non-scholarly) sense, is thus that which is available only to a narrow circle of "enlightened", "initiated", or specially educated people.[2] Esoteric items may be known as esoterica.[3] In contrast, exoteric knowledge is knowledge that is well-known or public; or perceived as informally canonic in society at large. In Western, English-speaking societies today, the term "esotericism" is not necessarily used in the sense of mystical knowledge or practice, but rather informally to mean any perception or knowledge that is difficult to understand or remember, such as theoretical physics, or that pertains to the minutiae of a particular discipline, such as "esoteric" baseball statistics.
  10. no matter what scene you are into, you will always get: people who have a high opinion of themselves those who look down on others old timers who have done it all youngens who are going to change the world imho we have all been guilty at one time or another of passing comment on someone about their knowledge ,dancin .,the way one dresses . etc. its human nature in its worst form its snobbery
  11. same goes for mi mucker
  12. one can ride a scoot and still love the music
  13. ... Another great night at 'Local Soul', numbers were a little down this month, however two guest DJ's were arrested by the 'OVO hit squad' and their record boxes sent away for forensic examination - two further DJ's were shot while trying to escape through the toilet window, Next of kin have been informed.many of the dancers were arrested and undergoing re education at a concentration camp.
  14. keep on keepin on mate ,the scene needs peeps like you
  15. super rare : these would probably surface an shine thru on any format. what about previously un released tracks that have found there way onto the scene
  16. as a punter with a mediocre knowledge of the music, know what I like and if I hear something which catches my attention I ask my more knowledgeable friends who and what. IMHO I don't care what format the music is played on and I pity the vinyl junkies who spend vast amounts of their hard earned cash on what I would consider in some instances tripe, but such is their want. what really matters to me when I go to a venue is the ambience of the place, atmosphere ,and the people present and last but not least the music. dj,s who are in tune with the punters who can fill the floor ,who can smoothly play a set ,change tempo ,vary the sounds .and that the event runs smoothly from start to finish and at the end be able to say ,am deffo coming back here.
  17. cheers
  18. can agree with you on those young man but they have been out some time, but in the last year or so there seems to be a greater element of wot I have previously described as insipid soul creeping in an its getting worse, an as for slaggin off ,am just expressin an opinion I go to a soul venue almost every friday and saturday covering yorks .notts and lancs, attend at least 4 w/wenders a year an have just done two weeks at sits for the 3rd year, would consider myself a committed soul lover albeit of the northern variety. was listening to my music when you were still gettin yer head fast int school railings so am I a dinosaur?
  19. NEO ...SMILE
  20. as Tomangoes says, "Get em on a cd in the car & they'll become familiar", then you'll soon be singing along, just ask Yocky & Nell, they were the same till I did em a couple of cd's each but at the end of the day you like what you like & why not, it wouldn't do for us all to be the same or have the same taste, what a boring world that would be. Take care, be safe & remember,"What you like, is what you like", Spot.
  21. can I explain my stance witith this anology .elvis fans ,bless em listen to the same old songs an if they went to an elvis night an they started playin souped up discofied elvis covers they would soon vent there feelings .they want elvis nowt else. also my father grew up a mario lanza fan it was the only music as far as he was concerned and still is,they are keeping the faith . thats all Im doing I suppose.
