went to see the docs about my hearing found jelly in one ear and custard in the other he said I was a trifle deaf on a more serious note too many venues have poor sound systems and play too loud its been known for years that loud noise damages your hearing leading to deafness if you are regularly exposed to loud noise plus it can and does bring on some of the ailments mentioned on here as a former trades union rep have attended many tribunals wrt industrial deafness and some cases were really distressing so maybe next time you attend a soul do and you think the music is too loud then do something about it because it can seriously ruin your life

simon it was a privelidge to be there and to be able to help and will be there again whenever. with all the crap thats going down in the world at the moment it was truly moving to see the smiles on those kids faces as you say these kids live in an impoverished country surrounded by death and disease the legacy of chernobyl. the health services are stretched beyond breaking point and these kids live eat and breathe in a contaminated environment its great what you do ,taking them away from all that and it improves their health to boot. smashing to see other soul sourcers coming in on this am sure we can all help, been asking round friends and family with young kids and they want to donate things like clothing , toiletries etc maybe we can set some thing up ,to send donated items to these kids,just a thought what do you think cheers barney

YOU WILL ALWAYS GET OPPORTUNISTS JUMPING ON THE BANDWAGON unfortunately this is what is happening and what started has well meaning folk putting on and promoting events has turned into a small industry and where theres brass theres muck

some of this has been said , but it all depends on why you go and what you want from a w/ender to see friends you dont often see and or meet new ones to get away for a break to hear different/ new sounds to be somewhere different where you wouldnt normally go if it werent for the music also on what criteria do you judge a w/ender accomodation the place/resort who,s dj,ing the venue the music the cost and last but not least the people who attend some or all of the above are personal choices maybe there should be some way these can be assesed and to give an overall picture of any w/ender. take my 3 choices 1 isle of wight not a soul w/ender but there are plenty of venues on the island playin n/soul the place is brill and its scooter heaven if I could only do 1 w/ender it would be this 2 bridlington easily the best venue ,all our friends go and the music is brill the fish an chips are spot on and we love the resort 3 skegness butlins the start of the year for us its not an exclusive n/soul w/end but the crazy horses is a brill venue .there are some good live acts the accomodation is good .loads of people we dont normally see go and its somewhere we can happily take our none soulie friends still do other w/ends and done others but we cant do them all we also do soul in the sun and this year going to kefalonia with all our friends for sharon and bernies wedding with a n/soul theme for a fortnight

they wouldnt ev us mucker couldnt understand the language the dint care for our pork pies black puddin pork drippin and pigs trotters we gave em

woulnt even consider some of those you say are brill as northern mate
