  1. ok fred was just using you has an example of copywrite infringement, its as you say chalky ,of no consequence for the most part
  2. am not coy just dont want to cause embarresment lol
  3. yep had the billy sticker on mi scoot and Mr Bradley saw it parked up in town and he waited for me and told me that he owned the copy write for that pic , anyway I told him where to go and left , subsequentley found out that he does own the copywrite ,a local menswear shop Frank Birds does a range of t shirts with the logo under licence ffs
  4. dont beat yourself up on this dont think the said studios are going to go after you if you do have them printed , especially if you have shown a willingness to do it legit , after all its free adverts for them , there a member of the forum staff on here whose avatar is copy writed by a certain dai bradley
  5. an emotive word , but could apply to many aspects within the scene , promoters who put another quid or two on the door tariff , dealers (of records) who bump up the price of the latest in-demand record... dj,s who get paid substantial amounts for 1 hours work and arrive 15 minutes before they are due on and then go on to play tunes that have been played previously on the night ,
  6. no-one is compelled to buy or even look at whatever is for sale , irrespective of the merits of the items on offer, seems like just another pop at people who want to make money out of the scene ,
  7. what sad lives some of you have , sometimes wonder how some folk manage to get through life constantly dissing what other people do when it has no bearing on their own inadeuate existance . real deal nighters ffs
  8. at least 45 on this saturday not counting the many which are not even posted on here , is this sustainable .
  9. your right of course Matt but does this apply to promoters who want to start a new venue/nighter irrespective of clashes of dates etc
  10. Not at all grasshopper , there will always be tracks turning up that will cut the mustard.
  11. Im sparticus
  12. would deffo describe myself as a punter, dont dj, dont promote ,dont own any vinyl , like to dance (tho not very good) and prefer oldies nights , listen to all types of music off my laptop and especially tracks mentioned on SS. go out most w/ends usually friday and saturday nites, do the odd w/ender and SITS , done soultrain .like sunday sessions at the horse n groom doncaster, off to Phoenix chesterfield friday and kingsway mansfield saturday both crackin mainly oldies nights and usually well attended, dont do niters anymore , better things to do at w/ends than mope about zombie style or. lig in bed during the day . think the OVO debate is nonsensical and it is about time people really moved on, the zealots will never be appeased.and the flat earth vinyl disc philatelists will liveth forevermore amen
  13. A honest responce gogs but your final statement says it all for me the rest is just stamp collecting .
  14. a good friend of mine has been learning to play the saxophone and says he has got to a reasonable standard, well the other day he was in the van with me travelling to a job and as per I was playing some cd,s , and call me by eddie bishop came on , he declared I can play the sax parts in this . anyways when I dropped him off at home he dragged me in and got his sax out and started to play call me and werent too bad now he is pestering me for some more tunes with sax riffs or sax playing in , I know there are loads but eds a shed at mo, so lets have your fave sax sounds please. cheers B
  15. some people choose to wear such clothes . nowhere have I seen heard or come across anyone or organisation/venue or promoter that has said this should be what people should wear , its a matter of personal choice and to me it is not right to critisise personal choice, which in reality does not harm anyone or anything , its like slating ones musical choice,
  16. the inference being that people who wear the said attire , baggies /skirts etc are not worthy of todays soul scene and the premise is that they are bringing the scene into disrepute. I say not so and think they are great ambassadors for the scene ,. have attended venues where when certain of these people are present and dancing there is spontaneous applause at the end of records , the atmosphere becomes charged and infectious and these are not only the youngsters but middle aged fit as fook men and women. must say that these are mainly classic oldies nights cant remember anything like this happening at the more upfront venues I have attended , but then again the music at these is not really my cup of tea,.
  17. yes you can get a lambretta for less than 2 grand or for the price of a couple of ultra rare discs of black vinyl.
  18. You dont see many of these atplaces like Radcliffe,Club Polonia,Bidds etc ony the oldies niters like Stoke. These niters tend to be more upfront and move with the times
  19. Mark see you have a couple of scoots on your avatar pic , just got into it then or was it part of your youth?
  20. seems a bit patronising to me ,dont really think kids are told what to wear , they are the ones that choose to wear the clothes and it probably costs the rents big style, think its great that some of todays young are getting into the northern soul scene and want to wear what they think are the clothes associated with it , we ought to be welcoming them aboard.
  21. theres lots of things I wouldnt wear but thats another thread
  22. just a few pics showing some of the well dressed young people and cracking dancers to boot at the recent Grovsner rooms alldayer.
  23. attended an alldayer the last bank holiday w/end and there were a lot of youngens there wearing the said attire , bags ,skirts etc and they were up for it, dancing to all the classic oldies and it was a sight to behold . am a bit too old now for bags but think there is nothing wrong with this look and to me its not anyones job to tell anybody what or not to wear , Get a life ffs.
  24. we generally go out and about as a party of 5 , 3 women,my mate tom and me . so am definateley in a minority , one of our team is a collector and has recentley started dj,ing has a resident at two regular venues and is starting to get spots at other venues..and it aint tom or me. what I have to say is dont take this site as being the be all and end of all things soul. for every one who comes on here there are 100s if not thousands who dont, and many who used to come on here have let it fall by the wayside. dont come on here much myself nowadays because what it has become , ie the old adage if you cant say anything good dont say anything, rules here so you end up with a sanitised version of whats really happening out there, and same apples to the music , know its a rare soul site but come on here to gen up on venues etc but take the write ups with a pinch of salt and to listen to some of the latest wots new or interesting sounds, but believe that what a lot on here is deemed to be good just leaves me cold and would get nowhere if played out at most of the venues I go to , back on topic what I am trying to say is we go out every w/end mostly two nights but get the odd sunday dayer in as well and there are deffo more women out than men round here.
  25. best soul nite this year sandown isle of wight at an impromptu night arranged only the day before at sands hotel where some great friends from the midlands invited us to come and play our cds we took along some good friends from the south all in about 60 people half a dozen dj,s , and had a fantastic night , no bull no grief and no politics , great banter , got pissed and didnt want it to end,and the music was sweet cheers b
