  1. I like to think if Young Hearts Run Free had been on an obscure lable it would have been a great northern tune
  2. Its hard to pick any one from these three great Saturday wake-up Music
  3. It had a thread all of its own back in December, seems it acetate only, (a demo disc for other artists) and a version exists by Jimmy Delphs. Dream record I can only dream about owning, ps I think the soul girl dance clip has a better recording.
  4. Get it for £1.10 on The Soul Bowl list (see other thread)
  5. I'm convinced this gem needs its place here
  6. Don't know if this deserves to be here, but hey-ho
  7. here's the lady herself
  8. You've got to be careful originals are on styrene and vinyl all had the Buddah logo at 6 0'clock no white demo exists.
  9. Anyone posted this yet?
  10. I love Tambi Garrett, but Lulu's version takes some beating Likewise Dusty's version of the following holds the ace for me.
  11. No reflection on the seller at all mate, I have all three of those releases in a box in my shed, all bought over the last 5 years and for nowhere near the prices that you and others have got, (£15.00 for the Salvadors was the highest) my dilema is what to do with this large collection of 'pressings' I've collected if they were put on ebay would they get the same price as yours did or might I only get back the £15 I paid for them any tips on selling? tea time on a Saturday seems like a good time to end Is there a rare boot/ pressing scene evolving?
  12. Carol Anderon Sad Girl £56.00 (Fee re-issue) Lilly Bryant Meet me Halfway £102.00 (Tayster Boot) and those Savadors seem to be sticking at the £100.00 mark Maybe Manship needs to rewrite the boot guide!!
  13. Had the album before the 45, (the 45 would have been the cheaper option for a poor apprentice fitter) Some good tracks on those MFP/Contour albums
  14. Just had a re-read of this many tracks I've added to my collection during the last few (7) years Ain't seen Connie Laverne on GSF yet though? An' LLoyd Prices LP only version of You Bought It on Yourself.
  15. Still sounds as fresh as it did in'73
  16. The later UK reissue is on blue viyl are they all mono? John
  17. Go Compare, actually I think its more the mix than the pitch
  18. Its unlikely the Pasadenas knew of the Mark C. version at the time it borrows far too much from the Jackson Sisters, great credits on the original Prophecy release Gene Page, Ronnie Walker & Bobby Taylor classic piece of ghetto funk/rare groove that made it into the mainstream 1973 vintage
  19. Done my head in? Done Your Head In?
  20. A Natural Four issue that has the same label on both sides and plays Call Me Eddie Bishop on the 'other side'........got to be worth at least £245.00
  21. 100mph Motown
  22. Back in the 70s you often bought blind going by artist, label & writer/producer, of the latter Holland Dozier, Van Mcoy etc. were all bankers, nowadays with the internet and all you can usually vet a track before you buy it, this can take some of the excitement from opening the package that arrives through the door but its maybe not a bad thing to buy what you like. I can remember setting the record player next to the phone to play some of my latest arrivals to my mate Kev and he did the same for me. Collection wise lately I've concentrated on collecting UK reissues of top northern sounds from the 70s lables like Brunswick: Adams Apples, Gene Chandler Artistics, ABC : Willie Hutch, Reflections & Sapphires London: Yvonne Baker etc. UK, Pye, Contempo, UA, Capitol all reissued (legally) some of the big tunes of the day I've about 300 titles now and they've not cost me a kings ransome. The good thing with these is they may be more readily available out of junk shops car boots. Good Luck
