  1. Darrell Banks - Open The Door To Your Heart/ Our Love (Is In The Pocket).
  2. Plenty of new (old) stock blank cassettes on Ebay and some newly manufactured ones (such as Maxell UR) on Amazon plus a few specialist websites. The new ones are only Type 1 (Ferric) but I doubt whether car stereos play types 2,3 and 4. New releases are coming out in small numbers though it's unlikely there are any soul releases. A lot of artists sell via Bandcamp as youngsters are coming round to having physical copies rather than streaming. If cassettes have been stored properly then they should play OK. I have a number that are 40+ years old and they still play OK.
  3. There's a Sampler CD of the collection given away with the August 2023 edition of 'Mojo' magazine. Track listing: Eddie Floyd - 634-5789 (Soulsville, USA) William Bell - Slow Train Carla Thomas - Don't Let The Love Light Leave Rufus Thomas - Come On Dance With Me Mack Rice - Respect Yourself Homer Banks - If You're Ready (Come Go With Me) Eddie Floyd - Stay With Me March Wind - Until I Lost You Shirley Brown - I Don't Care Anymore Bettye Crutcher - Too Much Sugar For A Dime Joe Shamwell & Eddie Floyd - Don't You Know That It's All Right Homer Banks - (If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want To Be Right Henderson Thigpen - Woman To Woman Bettye Crutcher - Everybody Is Talking Love Homer Banks - I've Got A Feeling (We'll Be Seeing Each Other Again)
  4. Great song. Susan Rafey is nice but lacks a bit of soul, the Philly Devotions is a good Philly dancer but the best has to be Little Anthony and the Imperials. This live version is superb:
  5. That's so difficult. Linda Jones and the Whatnauts but only by a gnat's whisker from the O'Jays.
  6. They're both great versions but I think the slightly slower tempo of Howard Guyton suits the song better. Teddy Randazzo's arrangement and production is also superior.
  7. Rita but the instrumental is awesome.
  8. I'm going there tomorrow - I'll have a look
  9. Very well known but such an evocative and sad song.
  10. Surprised you've never been able to photograph one there though, having said that, maybe they're not as tame as they used to be. Here's one I took in 2007. Interestingly I've seen black squirrels in this country, which are a variant of the grey squirrel, at Stevenage but, unfortunately, I wasn't able to get any photos.
  11. The pine woods at Formby Sands are a good place to see them.
  12. Maybe a bit too funky for some
  13. Johnnie Mae Matthews - but only just. The rawness in her voice makes me believe that she really means it.
  14. No contest - got to be Edwin Starr. He sings it as though he actually means it whereas Doni Burdick just plods through the song.
  15. The best time to go is when the tide is just about to go out as many of them are totally submerged at full tide and they slowly start to appear as the tide goes out - spooky.
  16. It looks as though it was: https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/johnny-on-the-spot
  17. It's usually MTV style videos, TV live appearances or concerts, not documentaries with commentary, talking heads, etc.
  18. "I stand accused and I'm guilty Baby I always will be" Tony Colton - I Stand Accused
  19. Looks like a Canna Lily.
  20. Buzzard - Small.mp4 A short video of a buzzard preening itself (taken from my bedroom window).
  21. A foggy day in Staffordshire.
  22. Just had to take a picture of this one knowing the Aussie way of shortening words
  23. er.........'Ned Kelly' ?
