  1. I'd say 50 years too late Ste.. but others may have a different view ??
  2. How much ya selling for ffloyd
  3. It's Jimmy Burns for me - only just outshining Bobby James.. But in saying that, it's ONLY because it was Jimmy's cut I first heard and therefore associate the track more with his version As Russ quite rightly states, The Mystics take could quite easily be mistaken for an entirely different track altogether.. But I too really like the arrangement, which appeals to me due to sounding 'fresh' Brand New Who ????
  4. Wow !! Thanks Dave, I didn't know that - what pedigree for parents !!
  5. Related then ?? She does have the 'look' of the Major..
  6. Feck.. That's a LOT of money ??
  7. And Cambs !! Fantastic little club, SUPERB music, and fantastic clientele..
  8. Also the Cedric label.. with Don Gardner and Bobby McClure sharing the same number - that I can't remember at the mo !! 3003-3023 ?? Damn this age thing of not being able to recollect info lol
  9. As much as I hate to say it, I think - without a vaccine in place.. the 'live' Soul Scene will suffer the same fate as the Dinosaurs - extinction !! Online events are great.. to a degree, as is any online chat-room availability.. but it isn't the same as attending a venue in person, and all that goes with a good night out - particularly personal interaction with other like-minded Soulie Type Peeps Sad, but true, methinks
  10. lol Ste.. Only Johnny & The Self-Abusers missing from your list mate
  11. Roosevelt.. I picked an issue up in a junk shop in Brighton mid 80's.. 10 whole new pence !! I didn't know it and bought it purely for the fact it had a cover of Tighten Up on the flip.. Sooo glad I did !! It was Kev Draper who then informed me YGMDY had plays on The Scene Same shop I also bought a flexi-disc of Johnny & The Self-Abusers.. for those unaware, they went on to become one of the UK's 'Super Groups'.. doesn't hurt to have diverse musical interests when it comes to buying collectable stuff
  12. For once, an auction item that went for less than it's value (IMO at least).. The Four Arts on Shee !! I sold mine for £400 over 10 years ago !! Now.. If only a Joseph Moore were to be offered to me at a pro-rata rate to the above.. I wouldn't be able to open my wallet quick enough !! lol
  13. And what is it to do with folks losing jobs etc ?? I both empathise and sympathise completely with people in that position.. but why should that detract from someone else who is enjoying some success ??? FFS.. It's called LIFE, and if that is your attitude then, with respect, I think you need to go and get one !! Why can't you just be pleased for Lee instead of trying to cloud his good fortune with crap that happens.. EDIT: I also think your post in not relevant to the topic, and hope the mods see fit to remove it.. If you feel that strongly about putting the world to rights, why not start a separate thread ??
  14. And at the end of the day it's up to the purchaser what price they are prepared to pay for an item.. and if you can afford that price, then why not.. I know I would if I was in a position to All I can say is Good Luck to Lee, and I'm genuinely pleased for him but have to ask how come your dad didn't receive it for Fathers Day lol
  15. Either way Ian.. Thanks to Adey you know for certain it's a pucker signature - which I think is brilliant !! Made up for you mate.. it's nice to see when someone gets a bit of good luck
  16. Nothing like a bit of provenance.. Guessing it was signed the same weekend, at Blackpool then ??
  17. That's well cool Ian.. well done mate !!
  18. Including said 45 in question - on Dot !! I only found this out myself yesterday, in conversation with Russ Holley.. Who has a copy
  19. Sonny Ridell ' Come Out In My World ???
  20. Looking forward Gilly and can't wait.. I'll take three copies for myself, Sue and my bro-in-law, please.. Mammoth effort, but glad you stuck with it !! Respect my friend..
  21. I have to admit there are many similarities in the the voices of both Jimmy Spencer & John Tee - and that would answer my query as to why John Tee would record under an alias on his own label.. That said, the clips of Jimmy I can find are all from recordings released in the 2000's so difficult to make a direct comparison to the John Tee releases on Jay-Tone.. And on the surface I can't find any references that would connect the two I think a bit more digging around is in order.. It would be more than uncanny, I think, if both these guys voices and styles are not one and the same person, but that's not to say they could, actually, be different artists entirely.. Damn !! I NEED to know more !! lol I'll pm you to discuss a potential purchase..
  22. Thank you so much for the sound files - and really liking both sides, but in particular the 'Worth The Trip' cut.. And obviously John Tee under a pseudonym for whatever reason - which I think is a bit bizarre given it's his own label.. The strange world of record collecting lol If you are looking to sell, and at a price I would be happy with, I would definitely be interested.. Regardless, I REALLY appreciate you giving us the opportunity to both see and hear this 45 - and part of what makes this site the wonderful fountain of knowledge that it is.. always something new to find out
  23. Hi @Yourbiggestfan Thanks for posting, as I wasn't aware of this track on the label - in fact I've only seen three releases on the label and, as this isn't one of them, I apologise for not being able to assist in answering your question.. But was wondering if you are able to post sound clips of both sides at all please ?? As I can't seem to locate them anywhere and would love to learn how this sounds Appreciate any assistance, and hope you manage to find a value.. It's certainly an obscure and difficult 45 to find
  24. And what about the Cliff Nobles B&W Atlantic demo on a carver, currently at over ONE HUNDRED POUNDS !! WTF !!
