Last year I did a charity bike ride from London to Brighton. Its to raise money for the British heart foundation and it sure keeps your own heart pumping I can tell you ! I'm thinking of getting up a "northern soul posse" to do it this year so if anyone fancies it let me know. Its on Sunday 19th June and you have to pay £20 to register for the ride. There are 3 of us so far but if you want to do it you've got to let me know pretty soon as we need to register before 1st March to get a good start time. Reply to me a.s.a.p. if you want to enter. Cheers Rob Messer robert.messer@onetel.net

Hi there My son and I are running a Charity Northern Soul Night to be held in March in aid of Alzheimers Society and we'd love it to be a night to rememeber! This is being organised following a smaller event at Fubar in Southport back in October at which we raised over £130 - and we hope to add a few noughts (preferably to the right end) at this one! We would appreciate your help in giving us a leg up as we are, as a family, affected by this disease (along with some 3 millions in the UK who are carers for someone with some form of dementia). The Alzheimers Society helps to support us as carers as well as carrying out essential research and lobbying Parliament. Proof positive that the soul scene now Spans the generations - the event is being organised by my son, Andy and I. AND he and I will be doing an hour-long DJspot together on the night. Please help us to make it a night to remember! Saturday 19th March, 8 til 2 In the Ballroom, Prince of Wales Hotel, Lord Street, Southport! DJs include Brian Walker, Steve Whittle and friends music policy - get 'em dancing! should be a great night in a fantastic venue - dead classy with great dancefloor and balcony and plenty of bar staff! Chill-out room for record dealers, etc! AND a RAFFLE - prizes include meall for 2 @ Prince of Wales Hotel and lots of soul-related stuff Tickets £5 each - call Andy on 07795 386244 or e-mail kate1simpson@tiscali.co.uk £7 otd but places limited! Thanks Kate Simpson

Whats with all the ninjas and "remain nameless" bits ?? If a dj plays a dub of a unreleased cd only track out and about, then they're not really trying that hard to hide the fact they are playing it are they, be a bit hard as doing it in public eh ?? They must have no problem with doing it, so why try and make it into some big secret "no names" thing, if they wanted it a secret then they wouldnt have played it would they ? You say have no problem with it and dont wanna stir, but way you posted and made it out to be some big thing, you doing just that

Ta for thoughts Brett, such always appreciated Intial thinking behind it is that the "all about the soul" goes on as it is same sort of scope thats been discussed in there before Adding an all era section aim is to give the opportunity to expand rather than fracture The name and looseness of it all should mean if there's a demand, members can go off on stuff that up to now hasn't had any or that much coverage in the main part of site. In a bit of an anti-category mood at moment but basically idea is with a wide scope that can cover all sorts, all styles, genres, latest releases, current plays, radio and so on, which may not be appreciated by all in the main section. But can be easy dipped into by members if/when want to Hopefully at least above makes where coming from a bit clearer, as said is a trial sort of thing and as in past and now have had interest, thought give it a run out Shouldnt affect main part - (thats main concern) and depending how goes/interest/demand similar for similar can be sorted One factor have to mention is know for a fact that, the tired old "this is sh*te posts" often get when discussing varied styles has and still does put off members posting varied non-mainstream stuff in main bit. as said ta for thoughts Brett mike
-
Have had a bit of interest in a trial of a more all era soul based forum Idea being offer members place can use site features to discuss a wider and looser range of soul related stuff rather than the main - more rare/northern/rnb/xover soul based "all about the soul" forum All Era Soul - being the intial name - a wide loose range of all era soul being the scope so thought give it a go - see what happens as said trial sort of thing - important points will be does have effect on rest of site, demand and use, and also the running of it

dunno Chris- put me neck out trying to read the listing on scan dug for it - no joy only real trace was ebay listing where it went for 150 maybe more joy/known in garage circles,

Somethings wrong here, first two regular worthwhile contributors having a go at each other over last few days Then another worthwhile regular contributor posting up a jacked off post All because of a thread about a simple sound file??? nah... just do what i just done, look back through recent posts over last few days, and its not hard to see why or how have ended up with current situation not going to go into the ins and outs - just say moderation on here changed see later post end of day forum is all about discussion, in a worthwhile enjoyable manner
-
ok couple of things first ta for your views Christian on forum, will answer them in a bit second on "discussion " between Christian H and Vaultofsouler this seems to have been going on now over a couple of threads, and resulted in, lengthy posts that have nought to do with the main subject and also other posts from diffferent threads been quoted, gotta say reached point where ask you both if wanna carry this on then do it either by pm/email or whatever, just take it off the forum
-
After talk about Vondells in other thread /index.php?showtopic=5631 and all that, wondering if anyone heard a lp track by what appears to be the dayton ones, called " a loser" was on a 67 radio station comp lp, released after a battle of bands thing anyone checked it out ??

think problem resolved its cause of the skins, the "default" one isn't the site default one if you know what i mean means have to change something, so if have choose a different skin than the site default one will have to choose again pain... but the option to save automatically should then be on by default
