Stop Press News 6Ts / Valatone 100 Club Extravaganza Due to an unexpected cancellation of the live jazz act for the early evening session at the 100 Club, the 6TS Rhythm 'n' Soul Society has negotiated with the Valatone org. to produce a whomper, stomper, bomper, xhomper soul session from 10pm to 8 am at the legendary Oxford Street club. The massed ranks of Valatone DJs and show-girls will run their night at the 100 Club from 10pm-1.30am when the 6TS jocks will seamlessly take over and continue the night right through to 8am. So there won't be any queueing, or kicking out of jazzers or getting rickshaws from Euston up West. Jon Buck will be hosting his own little 50th party down there too and anyone with his tickets will be sorted amicably. It will be £12 to get in before 1.30 and the usual tenner after 1.30. If anyone was just coming for the early session, we'll sort them accordingly. So if you were going to both, you save money, or if you were just doing the 100 Club it's the same; unless you splash out £2 and get in up to 3 ½ hours earlier. So from 10pm-1.30 am it will be Johnny Timlin, Andy BB, Gareth Donovan and Adam Torel, then from 1.30 Mick Smith, Ginger, Ady Croasdell and Jumping Joan. Jon Buck will be cropping up all over the place throughout the night. It's going to be one hell of a night, See you there! A-D&J-T

Mike replied to Pete S's topic in All About the SOUL

Well can't belive this one, sure most of you remeber the Whitby thread from a few weeks ago In amongst it all a member posted up a post from a soul fan who had been at Whitby. Had word today that the person who had wrote the post Margaret H has just been sent by registered mail a letter from Kev Roberts been told that the registered letters purpose was to inform her that he is banning her for life from all his events s and is going to circulate her name to other promoters, along with legal threats if she posts similar in future as the post was posted on here, have to say that to read that a soul fan has had such action taken against them by a promoter is disturbing, and as it concerns such a subject as that ticket fiasco at Whitby, then do have to wonder just why such strong action is being taken against someone posting their views on here anyway thats a factual view of it... post banned for "life" for is below and whitby thread is /index.php?showtopic=30941 I'm not a big poster on this site but a friend as just emailed me this which she has sent to the promotors and because she cannot post on this site as asked if I do it for her ! Me and my wife were also there and my wife got a black eye in all the commotion plus I also don't agree with one of the comments in this thread about baring soulies who were there from other events ! Soulies are not hooligans ! Anyway see email below ! Kev I have just been on the soul-source web-site and read the e-mails regarding Whitby. Unfortunately, the administrator has closed the site to any new replies so I am taking this opportunity to warn you of the information that I intend to distribute among the hundreds of "misinformed" people. I had a very polite conversation with you on Sunday afternoon giving you the chance to explain why the ticket situation arose. I was totally horrified to hear you tell me that all the people who weren't allowed in on Saturday night, had knowingly, bought counterfeit tickets at £10 each and that's why they weren't allowed in. As I then informed you, I was one of those people who was refused entry. Let me remind you that I, along with the many genuine Northern Soul fans of many years, had bought our tickets months ago costing us £25 each. Where did you get that informationt from? If you'd actually had the courage to come upstairs to face us, then you would have seen many very familiar faces. Another lie that surfaced was that you had left the building on Saturday night and that is why Snowy came up to try and calm the situation. This is all fact - I was there. I was told on Saturday morning by a very dependable source that 2000 tickets had been sold. The poor guy you have all chosen as a scapegoat actually only sold 30 tickets. As for the so-called allocated 1500 wristbands, there was another full box waiting to be used by yourselves. Can you tell me what colour wrist bands were used for New York? As Friday night was well over the maximum capacity allowed for the venue, there were complaints and the authorities were informed and that's why there was a clamp down on Saturday night. Realising your greediness couldn't be explained away, I wouldn't be surprised if you planted that poor chap outside - your scapegoat! On Saturday night, when the police eventually arrived, we were told by them at around midnight that they were going to close the event. You, as promoter, then panicked and started asking people to leave - how desparate was that! Have you refunded their money yet? After waiting for over 2 hours, we were then told that 105 people could go downstairs. By this time and after all the emotional trauma we had been through, we were certainly not in the mood to be dancing. We waited for some compensation and an apology - guess what - we got neither! You didn't even have the decency to say SORRY - you just defended yourselves and put the blame on someone else!!! So, a message to all the people who can't understand what all the fuss is about, put yourselves in our shoes. We had looked forward to this event all year, paid our money, travelled miles and got stabbed in the back in return. One more point - I hope no-one buys their tickets yet for next year's event because when the police and council in Whitby have had their say on the situation, there probably won't be an event. I await your reply. MAGS

Idea - Separate Little Section For The Video Clips?
Mike replied to Pete S's topic in All About the SOUL
Pete yep have been thinking along similar lines with return of sounds -something like a media section tell you what till sussed it out - ( a couple of days as up to my neck in stuff) if you and anyone else can add video in the title - then when sussed can easily move them into it -

Press release about a forthcoming "musical play" planned to open in 2007 called Hitsville USA with plans to show eventually in uk Seems there is also another musical play in the pipeline for 2007 as well, written by Berry Gordy Authentic "Jersey Boy" Names Al Abrams, Motown Records Founding Publicist, to Create Original Motown Musical Play Hitsville USA Will Debut in Detroit in 2007 Prior to Broadway, London Openings t Detroit, MI (PRWEB via PR Web Direct) July 27, 2006 -- The compelling untold true story of the early days of Motown Records as seen through the eyes of Al Abrams, the founding publicist of Motown and the first employee of Berry Gordy's Tamla-Motown music empire, is poised to become the basis of a theatrical musical. Abrams, author of 11 published books and a journalist and publicist, has been named to write the book for the play, titled Hitsville USA. Abrams was hired by Gordy on Memorial Day 1959 before there was even a Motown label. Although he had absolutely no experience, it was Abrams' job to get the fledgling company's records played on the air by disk jockeys, and especially white disk jockeys on Top 40 radio stations. And he succeeded, often using unorthodox but now legendary methods. Abrams also became the company's first publicist, serving in that role through 1966, arguably the label's most productive years before Motown abandoned its Detroit roots for Los Angeles. The legendary Hitsville USA studio at 2648 West Grand Boulevard in Detroit is where such Motown musical icons as Diana Ross and the Supremes, the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, the Four Tops, the Marvelettes, Martha and the Vandellas and Stevie Wonder recorded their breakthrough hit records. Many of their songs are today anthems of pop culture. Now the site of the Motown Museum, the Hitsville USA address is known worldwide as a must-see destination for fans that make their musical pilgrimage to the building where Abrams once occupied the attic as his office. The show's primary angel and organizer of the investor group is successful New Jersey businessman and musician Michael C. Haber. He says the musical will debut in Detroit. Among the potential venues are the Fox Theatre, which hosted the legendary Motortown Revues, and the Fisher Theatre in the landmark Fisher Building on West Grand Boulevard. Haber, the son of Janet and Lenny Haber, is a musical prodigy who began playing the drums at the age of eight and began his professional musical career at 15. The Newark-born Haber performed with many contemporaries of the Jersey Boys' including the Belmonts and the Angels of My Boyfriend's Back fame. "I've been on stage 10,000 times," says Haber. Jersey Boys is the Tony Award winning musical on Broadway chronicling the career of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Berry Gordy announced his own plans for a Motown musical in 2003 and is scheduled to open his production in 2007 as well. "But the similarities end there," says Abrams. "I will be telling the Motown story through the eyes of an 18-year-old white Jewish boy in an all black environment, where I was surrounded by musical genius on a daily basis. My experiences at Motown were a microcosm of the then-contemporary rise of the civil rights movement in the United States. I am sure Berry will bring his unique perspective to his story." Abrams is the featured essayist on Universal's Hip-O Select 166-song The Complete Motown Singles Volume Five - 1965 CD compilation, to be released August 4. He is currently completing Hype! a book on how he sold the Motown Sound to the media and the masses. So how did the Jersey/Philly sound of Haber and the Motown Sound of Abrams get on the same play list? Haber explains, "I had the good fortune to meet Al Abrams through a mutual friend of a friend. There is no doubt that God has brought us together so amongst other things Al Abrams can receive the long awaited recognition and respect he undeniably deserves. "This project stirs a passion in me to bring not only the wonderful songs that the great Berry Gordy has produced and delivered to us (thank you Mr. Gordy), but also the wonderful stories of the backgrounds and lives of the Motown artists. Most of all, it will introduce to the public the Al Abrams Motown story that has been overlooked by such productions as the Motown 40 television show. Motown and Gordy have left Abrams standing in the shadows long enough. Like the Funk Brothers before him, it is time for him to step into the spotlight." Haber says he expects Hitsville USA to reach Broadway as well as London where many Motown/Northern Soul aficionados can have an opportunity to see the show. You can reach Abrams through alanabrams@aol.com and Haber at blktiafair@aol.com CONTACT: Michael Haber 732-757-5152

sick of dealing with shite like this as the member was actually responsible for the taping and as it featured on site in past he has to be well aware of what the site response would be to posting up clips add that has been recently warned and suspended due to his past actions on here then taking it that the only reason why he would feel fit to post up full clips is to deliberatly cause grief and hassle as such his account has been closed and looking at taking actions as per the terms of use https://www.soul-source.co.uk/artic...e.php/c24/12584 the thread will be looked at reopened its not hard working out what is acceptable and what is not on here and while try and keep moderation down to a minimum it does seem that some are out to deliberatly shit stir and cause damage to site As such am taking a zero tolerence approach to any such actions and the response to such deliberate abuse of the site and its features as this will reflect this anyone who has any problem with this or any other decison by all means post up in site section

North Wales Soul Clan's Northern soul night @ Rhyl Townhall has had to be cancled due to the local council pulling the plug, because it did not want to be open after 12 and so yet again another good venue gets lost to us, because our elected local councils dont want to support our efforts to keep soul alive in north Wales, but we will "keep the faith" and keep looking for another venue.
