ok just a quick shout for the first run out of the source talk live sessions post here covers the thinking behind it /index.php?showtopic=65286 idea is that this Monday nite (uk Time) be trialling out a sort of "structured" bunch of sessions from members Final details depends on the interest ( ie how many hands go up) All after is shouts from anyone interested in having a go All you need to take part is a mp3 player really With it being in the chat room format - it means not only can members listem to your sounds they can also talk at same time about them, be it q's views , trivia and so on and of course the person pushing them out can also do similar, background info, what hits the button about it, and so on (of course if got a mike wired up can actually use your voice) Anyway as said it is a sort of trial run, idea being a sort of structured format now and again could work well and be a enjoyable thing Monday nites the run out Styles for this is anything goes, further details be worked out when have a idea of interest Idea and aproach is along lines of a real world "after event " sort of get together So if wanna help out and get what could be a good thing going, just either post up here in reply or via pm over to you...

Thanks to Sedaria for emailing in the info Apooligies for delay in pushing it up Thanks mike I would like to clarify some information Earl Wright-"Them Love Blues" and "I Don't Know", is not the same Earl Wright as "Thumb A Ride". My father, Earl Wright was born in 1948 right here in Memphis, TN. He went to Manassas High School and married, my mother Helen Harmon in 1978. He was a songwriter, singer, and composer. Everyone continues to say he was a mysterious character, but he was sent to Vietnam and served in the war. My father deserves this credit as do many more other artists. He is currently in a nursing home and we hope to have him home soon. I would like for him to get the recognition he deserves. Thanks!!!!!

Putting up a shout soon for any one whos interested in taking part in some source talk audio sessions Idea is to try out having a one or two hour sort of "offical" audio slot on some nights of the weeks in the chatroom where a member or two can "broadcast" spots to other members via the chatroom with the chatroom and the way the audio works in there think it could be a good thing anyone can take part, if you just have a mp3 player own your pc you are good to go, of course if you got decks and mike wired up then that work as well basically the way it works is if if you can listen to audio on your pc then you should be ok to take part thinking is have at first a couple of "anything goes" nights then if ok can expand to different styles - different nights while it can be used in a free for all way any time of the day , thinking is that by having a sort of "official regular slot" can make more aware and give more exposure Anyway just a quick word on it, as said should be shouting soon for any "volunteers" who are up for doing say a live 30 min or so spot As said if can play clips on your pc then you got the equipment ! just a quick heads up, more either later today or tomorrow

" Cover " Versions Of Film / Show Tunes That Made It On The Northern Scene
Mike replied to a topic in All About the SOUL
Sure read some info that said Tony Middleton was based/worked in Paris at some time, think did read some connection with a french film company with a similar if not same name to paris blues, and he featured in some french/italian films listings all a bit hazy now but pretty sure it was from the usual movie databases etc -

Kents got some new cd releases out, the first one that gets a highlight is a comp from a familar name Al Wilson - Searching for the Dolphins: the Complete Soul City Recordings and More 1967-1971 Release notes clip below IIn The Basement magazine carries a Vinyl Spotlight feature, which look at twenty tracks from LPs not available on CD, and also picks one ‘special’ album to cover in its entirety. Way back in November 1998, in issue #8, the in-depth scrutiny was on all-time top-tenner, SEARCHING FOR THE DOLPHINS by Al Wilson. I summed up by saying “This set deserves like-for-like CD reissue, not least because my vinyl is worn out!” Well, it has taken a little over nine years for my wish to be granted but the wait has been worthwhile. I can wallow in Gene Page’s splendid arrangement of Fred Neil’s The Dolphins, interpreted by the magnificently rich vocals of Al Wilson and lovingly produced by Johnny Rivers for his own Soul City Records in pristine sound quality. Born in Meridian, MS, in June 1939, Al Wilson settled in California after serving with Uncle Sam, singing in local clubs as a solo performer and working in a line-up of the Jewels, which subsequently became Liberty recording artists, the Rollers. Passing through Johnny “Legs” Harris & the Statesmen and its metamorphosis, the Soul Brothers (as the drummer) Al met up with ex-Motown staffer, Marc Gordon, manager of the Versatiles (who became 5th Dimension). He took that group, along with our man, off to the fledgling Soul City company. Al had to be patient with the label to get his first record released but, after a handful of 45s and chart success with Do What You Gotta Do and The Snake, the stunning “Searching For The Dolphins” album hit the streets. Do What You Gotta Do, penned by staff-writer, Jim Webb,... full release notes can be read on Ace records Site (link below) 1. Dolphins 2. By The Time I Get To Phoenix 3. I Stand Accused 4. this made me smile German manufacturers Optimal Media Production claim that their new VinylDisc is a hybrid CD/vinyl album that will play in an optical drive or on a turntable: "The VinylDisc is a combination audio CD and special record. It consists of two attached layers. The silver layer contains digital audio information, while the black upper layer can be played on every record player https://www.boingboing.net/2007/10/19/vinyl...hybrid-pla.html ha!
