Back in February, one of the featured news items on Soul Source concerned itself with a very critical view of Bolton Octagon plans to stage a reworked version of the "Once Upon A Time" this summer In the news article posted Soul Source member Paul Sadot (who devised the actual play in its original format) gave his strong views on the reworking, which included points such as... "The production worked in its presentation, the actors, the film, the setting, but, most of all, the use of a real and narrative sound track" the full post can be read via the via the links at the bottom. Thanks to Del ( member nubian75soulsis) it seems that a reply to this and other criticism was posted on the Octagon Blog by Sally Boyd around the time the original article was published. Though the reply was made two months ago, its content and style may be of interest to those who were unaware of it till now. Can read the reply on the Octagon Blog (link Below) Octagon Blog Reply http://octagonbolton.blogspot.com/2007/11/once-upon-time.html

Regular Allniters Return To The West Country After an absence of 25 years and the closer of the Yate Allniters. Allniters are to return to the west country on a regular basis. Dave&Malayka Thorley have passed on that they have a great new venue at the old Berkeley Power Station site in Gloucestershire. They have already road tested the venue, so to speak, with a Yate re-union earlier this year and following a great response have book the venue for four allniters this year, starting on Friday May 30th. The event will have three rooms and they are promising 9 hours of great soul music with a twist. For the first night, dj's will include top UK names, plus some old Yate faces and the cream of the south west. The Allniter will run from 9pm until 6am.

Good News on Upcoming 6Ts 100 Club Nighters and also word of a upcoming 100 Club photo show Back to as it was - Allnighters Allnight Ady C just passed on the welcome news below The 100 Club rang me today to say they had received the Temporary Events Notice that the all nighters are run under now. So the all nighter on May 17th and all future ones should be fine. Due to the shortening od hours last time, we've held over the guest DJs James Trouble and Chris Dale for this May date. 10pm-6am. Hope you can make it Ady http://www.6ts.info/ 100 Club Picture Show Friday 9th May - Sunday 11th May Curated by Emily Beaver Main Show for Public: Friday 9th May - Sunday 11th May 12pm - 4pm Free Entry Announcing a new permanent display for the walls of the world famous 100 Club. For 3 days the 100 Club will open the doors through the afternoon, giving the public unlimited access to view the work and venue for free. Photographs from the club, spanning the last 60 years will include Jazz and Blues by Walter Hanlon, Terry Cryer and Chas McDevitt, The Punk Festival of 1976 shot by Barry Plummer, Ray Stevenson and Jill Furmanovsky and Rock and Indie acts by Paul Slattery, Dean Chalkley and Ross Halfin. Bringing you The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Siouxsie Sioux, Metallica, Oasis, Humphrey Lyttelton, Gallows, Chuck Berry, The Damned, Primal Scream and The Horrors to name but a few. Still standing after 60 years the 100 Club has earned a long overdue show of appreciation, not only for being a place of historical importance for music, but also for remaining a personal treasure to many. The inspiration for the exhibition came from The Rolling Stones on stage at the club in 1982, images of which were donated to the club by Carole Lateman, only to be stored away and forgotten for over 20 years. Recently discovered, they sparked the desire to put them where they belong on the walls of the club for the public's enjoyment. With a capacity of 300, the 100 Club shows are always intimate and accessible. This show serves to update the famous walls, rather than transform them, keeping the existing style of the interior. http://www.the100club.co.uk
