Sad News Richard 'Popcorn' Wylie RIP Sad news passed on via the forum by Rob Moss Just received a call from Mike Terry announcing that the immortal Richard 'Popcorn' Wylie passed away today. I'm sure everyone will share the sadness of his passing. He was one of the 'special' talents of the 60s Detroit soul era as writer, producer and artist and will be sorely missed. R.I.P. Very sad news RIP

just so aware looking at closing this thread down shortly this is due to the size of it and the follow on problems that this can cause ask the starting member to start a new one and then close this one recommend that when starting new one that post a link in the first post to this one the last page of posts in old one will be moved when started up ask that in future that off topic posts - if needed start new threads for discussion about off topic (ie non soul related ) items in the relevant forums if do get to much off topic posts they may be moved or removed moderation - please use feedback for discussion of all such matters members actions action has and will continue to be taken against members who do not follow the terms of use/house rules if wish to discuss members past site actions with other members - then do it via pms not on the site personal attacks, disruptive posts, repeated posts are all covered in the forum terms of use/house rules if not aware then please read at link below https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forum-house-rules as it says by using this site you are agreeing to follow these thanks mike -

Been mentioned a few times on here Metro times features an article on the reopening Before the inferno, Brad Hales' shop, Peoples Records, was a subterranean mecca of second-hand vinyl housed floor-to-ceiling in beautiful old Atlas soda crates. Mountains of remarkably rare records wove a tapestry of Detroit music, rediscovered and ready for the taking. Nestled in the heart of the Cass Corridor in the Forest Arms building, Peoples was an informal clubhouse for musicians, collectors, and local DJs to share records, stories and knowledge. The air hung heavy with the ghosts of old Motown, soul and jazz icons.... https://www.metrotimes.com/music/story.asp?id=13220

thread re-opened recent posts in this thread concerning site stuff has been moved there any posts concerning moderation , site stuff and similar in this thread will either be moved or deleted after this pause and some thought ... from now on this thread will be moderated after a clean slate sweep when this thread started did moderate it from a "let everyone have their say" approach for a short while this at the time was felt best due to various factors while did move it back to normal thread moderation, it has not worked well not going to take action against members involved as it would mean that would need to take actions against a fair few and so feel that it may work better to adopt a clean slate approach rather than do such anything that has been said or has been posted against the terms of use/house rules etc previously will be deleted as time allows along with off topic posts any repeat of the excesses that have seen will be treated as per a normal thread hopefully this will allow the thread to get back to where it was a few days ago this approach may or may not work, end of day its up to you the members -
time tight for this hopefully be back up in a hour or so

48 Years Later, A Singer Finally In Demand The Washington Post website features an article on Loraine Rudolph. Written by Marc Fisher it concerns itself with the story of Lorraine Rudolph finding out that 48 years later after leaving Detroit she is "in demand" A few clips from the article are highlighted below, a link to the full article and sound clip follows at the end In 1960, Loraine Rudolph became a cog in the hit music machine later known as Motown. She sang back-up for one future star after another, toured with The Spinners, hung out with Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye and lived with Motown mogul Berry Gordy's sister and her husband, the singer and producer Harvey Fuqua. There would be a couple of other recording dates, but Rudolph doesn't think any of those songs were ever released. She can't even recall where she recorded the 45 that's most in demand on collectors' Web sites; neither the label nor the producer's name rings a bell. Rudolph doesn't know whether to be bitter that her records are selling for big money or thrilled that she's discovered fans she never conceived existed. Both emotions come over her in waves. "What can I do to get a piece of this?" she says one minute, then, just a few seconds later, "I guess I am 'in demand' now, huh?" Her big, round eyes fill and she's very quiet. And then: "I always did think I should be in demand." Check out the full article via the link below, it's a worthwhile walk over http://voices.washin...ger_finall.html
