thought tuesday was sour post day ? heres another take on things... At last, her signature song will take its place in history. Sitting in her California home and chatting on the phone with her son, an emotional Etta James watched Beyonc serenade the First Couple on inauguration night with the love song she made famous. "She thought it was great," said Donto James, 40, who stayed on the phone with his mom throughout the couple's first dance of the evening. "She's gotten emotional, just like everybody else." In what is sure to become one of the enduring images of Inauguration Day, Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, danced cheek to cheek as Beyonc belted out the soulful ballad, "At Last." Donto James said his 70-year-old mother heard several days ago that the famous song, her version of which was released in 1961 - the year Obama was born - would play a pivotal role on the historic day. "She was looking forward to seeing it," he said. "She was honored." The singer was moved by Obama's victory but was too under the weather to go to Washington, her son said. James has suffered complications from a 2003 gastric bypass surgery that helped her lose 200 pounds. "She was a little down that she wasn't well enough to be there," Donto James said. "At Last" was written in 1941 by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren and performed by Glenn Miller and Nat King Cole. But it was James' sultry rendition that made the song a classic - and earned her a lifetime achievement Grammy and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Hit and Run Label Launches With Two Tip Top 45s 2009 does seem to be getting off to a good start fresh 45 wise! This first month see's the launch of the Hit and Run label from the Soulscape family, full details below... Our new label HIT AND RUN RECORDS is launched in January 2009 with the release of singles by Mary Gresham and Doris Allen. The new label has been formed to release limited-edition vinyl singles of tracks from our Soulscape catalogue. All singles are pressed in the USA and are only available by direct order from us.We originally used the Hit and Run label to release deep soul singles in the UK in the late 1970s. After three releases, the label name was changed to Special Agent. MARY GRESHAM I'll Never Let You Walk Alone You've Never Really Lived (Till You Loved Someone) These two vintage tracks were recorded in Muscle Shoals in the 1970s but were unissued until March 2008 when they were featured on our acclaimed Mary Gresham album Voice From The Shadows (Soulscape SSCD 7008). Both tracks became instantly popular with 'modern soul' fans and DJs and are released on 7" format due to public demand. DORIS ALLEN Candy From A Baby Lets Walk Down The Street Together Underrated soul singer Doris Allen passed away just before her Soulscape album A Shell Of A Woman (SSCD 7012) was released in August 2008. These two tracks have already been picked up on by club and radio DJs focused on 'northern soul' and 'crossover'. Both 45s are avialble via the Hit and Run page on the Soulscape website (link below) at £10 each (inc postage)

this over the top almost hysterical reaction to any moderation requests/reminders is wearing just a bit thin you started a thread to discuss your productions and music if the subject is drying up or there's nothing to be said at the moment, then start a new thread about a different subject or get involved in other members threads
-
topic title says Ian Levine Productions And Songs, Thread exclusively to discuss songs written or produced by Ian Levine so do ask that all members do try and keep it to that at a guess would say that a thread about mecca plays and such would work better in a new thread in "all our yesterdays"

as mentioned a bit back looking at moving the forum side of refosoul towards a similar set up as the soul of jam forum section eg /Soul-Jamaica-f49.html currently its all set to go except for a small problem the actual "categories" what looking at is 3 or 5 categories that cover the whole wide spectrum of soul audio clips that get posted via refosoul looking for a set of cats that wouldl be ... easily workable ie members be able to look at them all and most times quickly say "yeah that one there be best place " not date based just feel be boxing ourselves in if do it on years not too specific the cats should be fairly loose and if possible avoid ott classification got a few ideas, but before going firm just asking if members would like to give it a think over, and if have any suggestions then post up cheers mike

this thread was started to pass on that tightening up the site policy and action towards personal attacks or abusive posts thanks for all your views due to some of the replies just like to point out that a personal attack or abuse as far as site is concerned is not about disagreeing with another member the house rules has a parargraph that says it better than i ever can that's what the original post was all about understand that members may have other concerns so ask if do wish to discuss any site related matters then ask do so in the feedback forum however do feel that untill things move on on the whole issue of abuse/attacks such discussion be better in a day or two going to close this thread as it does seem to be moving far away from the original post thanks mike
-

-

PETER LAMARR - UNDER LOCK AND KEY/TAKING YOU FOR GRANTED
Mike replied to paup-ine's topic in All About the SOUL
totally out of order unprovoked attack on another member final warning any more and will take action -
may be the thread starter and others such as yourself should listen to whats been said countless times over the last two weeks long running threads centered around one person/topic are not a option in the main forum if want the reasons go and search for my posts or ask in feedback mike

Mike replied to paup-ine's topic in All About the SOUL
dont do moderating based on members opioionns sure the mod who commented on your posts can answer suspect it may have been more about the tone, and the place where you posted it but i leave that to teh other mod to answer can you use feedback for all site matters please, hate to see us start getting called for moving posts -
moving this thread to box reason is as stated before main forum is not a place for long running threads centered on one person/topic
