on the single items - some have made the point and posts like benji and bueys latest demo it that if use the subtitle to show 45s - you can sort of get best of both worlds on last 24 hours - it be could be done but it be a custom thing which am trying to avoid at moment on first suggestion think a guideline of 3 may be more workable yep the better use of titles and subtitles is something that could be improved so its more helpful to buyers on second hopefully the new display which is as you suggest will improve things thanks again to all for passing on views mike

basically if go here /Sales-f4.html you can see that this post/thread hasn't been bumped back to the top - even with this reply all the posts are listed in a 'the time the sales were first posted' order fractions ? imagine if a record arrives in 8....
-
would say nah not yet! main thrust is all about the 'viewing sales by the index page' rather than the "viewing new posts" page the 'new posts' page is bit different as it covers nearly all of the forums and is a sort of summary of all things if want to check out new sales - the sales index page is always going to be the best place to start bumps like the above no longer have a effect on that and hopefully will drop once people wise up... note the hopefully

Souled Out Now Called " A Northern Soul Film" ?
Mike replied to Casper's topic in All About the SOUL
wind your neck in you wanna start calling me then do it by pm you crack a 'joke' the guy doesn't like it and answers you then answer with insults what do you expect us to do, sit here waiting for more insults to be posted ? took action, end of story - can't deal with that then in future post your 'jokes' in the humour section -
ok as said elsewhere the trial display method is now the default setting for the sales forum a few concerns were raised a thread about them and proposed extra guidelines is here /index.php?showtopic=94190 again ask for all members who use this forum to have a read and if have any views/comments please post before things go firm thanks mike

Joe interesting point, as you say single item are always going to have a better 'sales' reaction but if everyone started posting single sales then in one day 10 members posting 5 will swamp the index page maybe a q of balance whatcha reckon if have in guidelines a limit of say 3 sales posts a day ? john nah, idea of guidelines is that they are flexiable enough to avoid heavy moderating/monitoring but clear enough so that all aware rule breakers ? hopefully if all members are aware, all will play the game can't remember last time had to take any sewrious actions against any member for over the top sales while always gonna get a few pushing things to the limit hopefully if guidelines clear then things will stay like that
-
how different is the 12''mix ?
-
below is first draft of proposed extra guidelines the thinking is to provide simple, common sense ones that can apply generally rather than specfic cover every type guidelines 1. single posts all members are asked where possible to group sales in one list if feel the sale deserves it ( say for example a interesting three or four figure record) then should be no problem however it should be the exception rather than the rule 2. re-listing - listing of sales that have already been posted if wish to relist (re-post) please wait 48hrs before doing so 3. ebay - posts linking to ebay sales ebay section is to be used for all ebay linked sales - it has moved it is now under sales market not sales 4 ended - posts that contain sales no longer available if sales are no longer avialable(sold, withdrawn etc ) please indicate either by editing post or posting a reply to the orig post as said first draft, hopefully cover some of the concerns expressed again as a member run affair feeback/views most welcome

ok after the trial gonna call it that adopt the display as the default format (note any person who wishes to STILL use the old method can do so via the listing options on the bottom right of the index page) concerns a few concerns have been raised about the sales 1. single posts - already can see that members posting more than a few posts can have a effect 2. re-listing - listing of posts that have already been posted 3. re-pricing - listing of sales that have been re-priced 4. ebay - posts linking to ebay sales 5 ended - posts that contain sales no longer available will post later ref these concerns
-
Ian, Rod looking at the more than 1 record issue now yep ref wants, good point yep seperate section for ebay - it shouldnt be happening but does would say not a major concern at moment ,though one to watch Chris think at point where some are bumping after 4 hours or less and to me the "pm'd ya" posts are just no different than the bump ones if did go for bumping = more sales so its ok, its natural progression would be all members can bump which in theory could end up with a list showing purely the most bumped posts eg the bumping has over took the posting
-
last shout for views on the new sales listing order (eg by date of the new topic rather than the date of last reply) will get onto other concerns once decision is made ask please post all views in pinned thread link below /Trial-S...02#entry1004002 thanks mike

main thrust is still the display, other concerns/comments(!) have been noted last shout for any views on the "new" sorting order of display, before go firm....

BBC4 TV Motown Night - Friday 20 Feb 2009 BBC4 TV Does the Motown 50 thing, going by the descriptions two of the three items on offer do seem to be first time around shows. 20:00–21:00 Motown at the BBC With the Miracles, the Supremes, the Temptations, Stevie Wonder and the Four Tops. To mark the 50 year anniversary of Motown, a compilation of some of the iconic record label's greatest names filmed live in the BBC studios. Visitors from Hitsville USA over the years have included Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Diana Ross and the Supremes, the Temptations, Stevie Wonder, the Four Tops and the Jackson 5. 21:00–22:00 Legends The Motown Invasion Documentary revealing what made Motown special though the lens of two decisive moments in 1965 - the Motown Revue UK tour and the Sounds of Motown Ready Steady Go! TV Special. Arriving in London in March 1965, the Supremes, Martha and the Vandellas, Smokey Robinson and Stevie Wonder were bussed across Britain on a tough but crucial tour. The TV special, recorded during the tour, kicked open the door, thrusting Motown's slick routines and magical music into front rooms across the nation. 22:00–23:45 Storyville Standing in the Shadows of Motown Documentary that tells the story of the Funk Brothers, the successful Motown musicians. ® repeated later on the same night

Film Cadillac Records gets a UK Releases 20 Feb 2009 The 2008 film based on the life of the influential Chicago based record company executive Leonard Chess, and the singers who recorded for Chess Records, finally gets a uk release Seems that Feb 20th is the long overdue date for the UK release, mainstream reviews so far have been mainly favourable. However as one said "the less you know about music the more you enjoy this film" it sounds like it may be best if you sit down in your local multiplex with a 'accept the hollywood factor' outlook and just enjoy it for what it is. Nev events lookbacks is set up like this - the whole events is awaiting an overdue upgrade which will result in all event forums having a similar display system -within a week or so search option at bottom is a casualty of the site wide search system - (eg can't have both) this is temp - new forum version should cure it but be 4-6 weeks before its is released cheers mike

As talked about in BUMPING thread running a trial for the next 48hrs or so now when viewing the index page the order of display is now set by the time the original post was posted (eg the first post not the replies) what it means that any replies to any sales post will not push it to the top aim is to hopefully ensure that all sales posts are easy to navigate and avoid the problems we have been having with bumping ask give it 24 hours or so to see how it goes if any concerns or q's after that please post below thanks mike

again thanks for views/suggestions on different cats - not sure it would solve the bumping problem but may be something to look at if do hit start hitting that tipping point of over 50+ new threads a day deleting - maybe better/easier if push for marking sold rather than deleting display/bumping -what looking at is starting the trial of "displaying via the date topic posted" tomorrow will give it a run out of 48hrs and see how things go
