  17. Baltic Soul Weekender 4 - 23rd -25th April 2010 Houston, we have a Line-Up. Firstly, we'd like to say thanks for your faith and dedication resulting in 1800 tickets being sold in the past few months alone. Three types of accommodation have sold out, and all this despite any of you knowing who's going to be on next years' line up! At the 4th Baltic Soul Weekender you certainly won't be disappointed. We are proud to reveal a first taste of the quality line up we have prepared for you. This won't be the end of things by any means. We'll constantly be adding artists to the line up, right up to the festival date itself, and we'll naturally be keeping you updated. Those of you who don't have tickets reserved by now, should hurry in order to obtain desired accommodation. So, reserve your dream weekender apartment at http://www.baltic-soul.de now! First Line Up for BSW #4 *THE REAL THING* The Real Thing, brothers Chris and Eddie Amoo and Dave Smith are appearing in April and will surely deliver an unbelievable show. With classics like "You To Me Are Everything", "Raining Through My Sunshine", "Children Of The Ghetto" andthe Johnny Bristol penned modern soul favourite " Love Takes Tears". The question is "Can You Feel The Force?" YES, WE CAN ! *KENI BURKE* As a member of the 5 Stairsteps, and through his work with Curtis Mayfield, Linda Clifford and Terry Callier, Kenny Burke has left an impressive legacy in soul music, with "Rising To The Top" he gave us an absolute anthem, but with other weekender classics like "Hang Tight" and "Let Somebody Love You" and of course the 5 Stairsteps favourite " O-o-h Child" shows that he has a wealth of material on offer, we look forward to a brilliant performance from this "musical genius". *COLLINS AND COLLINS* Siblings Tonee and Bill Collins recorded a single album on A&M Records in 1980 which included the Ashford and Simpson song "top of the stairs" and Gamble and Huff 's "you know how to make me feel so good" (also recorded by Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes),"Top of the stairs" became a modern soul monster in the UK and is still played to "hands in the air " crowds. Witness them LIVE! With us! *ANN SEXTON* The wonderful "Southern Soulstress Ann Sexton will be appearing for the fourth time as a lifetime resident, you will become a fan of this lady as soon as she opens her mouth on that stage and holds you under her spell with classics like "You're Losing Me" "You've Been Gone Too Long" and "I Still Love You". A dazzling experience guaranteed! *GLORIA SCOTT* Gloria Scott was discovered by Barry White who produced her one and only album "What am I gonna do" in 1974. The album was largely ignored at the time of release, but the quality of songs like the title track and " A Case Of Too Much Lovemaking" made it a firm favourite on the soul scene. After 30 years of absence from the stage her comeback was breathtaking. Ensuring her status as a "Lifetime Resident", she will perform and inspire us again in April with classic and new material. *COOL MILLION* We also love bringing new acts to the beach for you: Anyone who loves good soul music will love Cool Million. Founded by Frank Ryle (Demark) and Rob Hardt (Seductive Soul), their debut album "Going Out Tonight" has just been released and is supported by some very fine musicians indeed. Cool Millions' motto is; "Taking Good Soul Back to the Future".. *KAYE-REE* Words like "Neo Soul" and the name Kaye-Ree go hand in hand and perfectly summarise the style of this Frankfurt female artist. The singer with Persian roots has been likened to great vocalists such as India.Aire, Asa and Erykah Badu. Her debut album " Endless Melody" was released earlier this spring. Her unique performance at the BSW 2010 will promise to be a magical selection, accompanied on the guitar by Felix Justen. *DJ LINE-UP* In our DJ line up we'll see the return of some good old friends, as well as meeting some newer "friends to be" such as Tom Kuklicz and Raw Deal. Here the DJ list in short *Crout · Bernd Niedergesaess · Dan D. · DJ Friction · DJ Tomekk · Eddie Piller · Hans Nieswandt · Henry Storch · Kenny B. · Lloyd Attrill · Mick Farrer · Mike Thompson · Miss Kelly Marie · Ralph Tee · Richard Searling · Rob Wigley · Smudo · Steve Hobbs · Supergid · and many more... * Baltic Soul Store We have made all the merchandise, which is usually only on sale during the Weekender, available through the shop. 19. *GROOVESVILLE?USA* *The Detroit Soul & R&B?Index* Press Release As well deserved as this year's 50th anniversary celebrations have been, you might be forgiven for thinking Motown had been the only black music company in Detroit. But long before Hitsville's meteoric rise in the early sixties, the Motor City was already a hotbed of jazz, jump blues, and gritty R&B. Blue collar Detroit was one hard working city with the music to match. As Martha Reeves once said in the 60s, 'Detroit is full of talent'. And throughout that decade, independent producers and musicians did their level best to mirror Motown's success turning out some of the greatest and most revered soul sides. Yet although the black music scenes of Chicago,Philadelphia, New Orleans and beyond have been well documented the Motor City's minnows have been sorely overlooked. To correct this oversight, Keith Rylatt has spent the last eight years researching and writing about the unsung heroes of Detroit's soul and R&B scene. If you caught Keith's definitive Twisted Wheel history Central 1179, then you'll know what to expect in terms of research, rare pictures and attention to detail. This weighty paperback is packed with a depth of information Motor City fans can only dream about. As well as a history of the development of black music in Detroit there is an exhaustive A-Z of the city's artists and musicians, and an equally detailed A-Z of the area's myriad labels and record companies. The book is beautifully designed with rarely seen artists' photographs, press advertisements, radio station flyers, newspaper clippings, and 45rpm labels. Groovesville USA is published in February 2010 and will only be available from the website - priced £27.50 exclusive of post and packing. *If you register online at www.groovesvilleusa.com http://www.groovesvilleusa.com before 1 December you can get a signed copy for just £25 - there is no obligation to purchase if you change your mind and no deposit is necessary.* See sample spreads, extracts and photographs from the book at http://www.groovesvilleusa.com *GROOVESVILLE?USA* *The Detroit Soul & R&B?Index* *Keith Rylatt* www.groovesvilleusa.com Publication date: 15 February 2010 A Paperback Original 189mm x 246mm, 240 pp UK: £27.50 (£25 if registered before 1 December 2009)

Blessed with a lithe yet powerful church-raised voice, she first made her mark with the James Brown Revue in the late-1960s. 22. no worries aim of all moderation is to try and keeps things worthwhile and enjoyable on here good suggestion but do try and keep things moderation wise flexiable, if had such a warning would then need to enforce it a lot stricter way play things is if you post "heavy" posts (eg naming people or similar such as happenend tonite ) then it has to be from a solid id changing display names shouldn't be a problem as your profile and past posts stay the same
  23. year 2009 and still having to deal with people who think just cause they got a hotmail account they can come on here and post "heavy" posts from dodgy account we do not allow anonymous posts on here any "heavy" posts from dodgy accounts will be removed dodgy = perm any of these - no intro, no solid email , no previous activity, no real id got something "heavy" to say then do it under your own name ffs

  25. ask if you got any concerns on banner advertising on here then rather than post them up in a thread that may or may not see, please post them up in members feedback here https://www.soul-sour...mbers-feedback/ as always happy to answer ought thanks mike
