Allnighter Allnighter 100 Club hitting its 5th decade Details of below NOTE WILTON AND BURNLEY CANCELLED! THE 6TS Rhythm & Soul Society NOW IN OUR 5th DECADE! Sat 9th Jan PRESENT BUTCH MICK SMITH MARCO SANTUCCI FRANK "BRITVIC" WEBSTER ADY "COCKBURNS" CROASDELL Playing the best and rarest Northern Soul sounds around. AT THE 100 CLUB 100 OXFORD ST LONDON W1 10pm-6am NO MEMBESHIP REQUIRED, just turn up. Ady website: http://www.6ts.info/ forum thread: THE BURNLEY ALLNIGHTER Sat 9th Jan Posted in forum cancelled due to weather I had to make a decision on this today. It took me a couple of hours to dig my car out, and I got to Burnley ok. But the side roads and car parks are bad, and they have forecast more snow at the weekend. I've rung round all the DJ's and some other cave dwellers, and the consensus of opinion was to cancel. So it's CANCELLED!! I have been in touch with Susan at the Falcon, and we have re-scheduled the date for- SATURDAY 23rd JANUARY I hope you can all make it on that date, and that the weather is more favourable. Please would you let anyone know who doesn't have Internet access. Thank you. Best regards, Phil. website: http://theburnleyallnighter.webs.com forum thread: WILTON ALLNIGHTER Fri 8th Jan WILTON ALLNIGHTER THIS FRIDAY IS CANCELLED We regret, due to extreme weather conditions, that we have to cancel the Wilton Allnighter this Friday, 8th January. Many people have contacted us to say it is impossible for them to get there because of the conditions. So, we feel it would be better if we cancelled. Weather forecasts for Friday night and the weekend in this area are for more heavy snow and we don't want to put anyone at risk trying to get to the venue. We understand that many people will be disappointed, especially when the night was to be dedicated to Jerry Brown; with that in mind we intend to pay our respects to Jerry at our next date, Friday, 5th March, which is our 17th Anniversary and the 100th Wilton Allnighter. Some of the DJ's scheduled for this Friday will join us in March for 10 hours of double decking madness, this should make a very special night not to be missed. We again apologise for any inconvenience caused, but feel we have made the right decision. This is the first time in almost 17 years that we have to cancel an event and hopefully the last. The sad news continues in 2010 Memphis musician and producer Willie Mitchell dies at age of 81 The sad news of another soul music legend passing on, video news clip and news release below and links to interview and the forum thread follows MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Willie Mitchell, a record producer, label head and musician who worked with Al Green and other stars, died Tuesday. He was 81. Mitchell died at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis at 7:25 a.m., more than two weeks after he suffered cardiac arrest Dec. 19, said his son, Lawrence Mitchell. Willie Mitchell owned Royal Studio where Buddy Guy, John Mayer and many others recorded their music. In the 1970s, Mitchell also owned Hi Records of Memphis, the label that produced some of Green's biggest hits. Green, also from Memphis, was flying to Australia and unavailable for comment Tuesday. At Hi, Mitchell was responsible for several instrumental hits of the 1960s and helped the careers of Green and singer Ann Peebles in the 1970s. Even in later years, Mitchell stayed busy at his studio, working with then-emerging talents like Mayer and Anthony Hamilton. Most recently, he wrote string and horn arrangements for Rod Stewart's new album of R&B covers, and produced a still-unreleased album from soul kingpin Solomon Burke. He received a Trustees Award from the Grammy Foundation in 2008. A trumpeter, Mitchell and his band provided the musical entertainment at several New Year's Eve parties for Elvis Presley at Presley's Graceland home. A Memphis boulevard was named in his honour in 2004. Below clips from the Memphis website commercial appeal article http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2010/jan/05/musician-music-producer-willie-mitchell-dies-age-8/ News of Mitchell's passing elicited an immediate outpouring of emotion from those who knew him best. "I'm terribly saddened," said Otis Clay, the Chicago soul singer who came under Mitchell's tutelage in the late-'60s. "This man was like my father. I learned so much from him. "What he taught me is how I've survived in a business that hasn't always been kind. But Willie was always kind, and he treated me like a son. And I loved him that way." "It's hard to say anything, it's such a great loss," said Ann Peebles, who came to Mitchell as a raw teenage talent and blossomed into a star. "For me, he was the beginning of my career -- and, as a matter of fact, he was an inspiration all throughout my career." Mitchell's most famous protégé, Al Green, was en route to Australia to begin a concert tour and could not be reached for comment. just add as well as removing comments any member can switch of the complete comments in profile feature already (just looking at a few profiles and a few already do) so can opt in/out its not a major new addition or policy imo more just a case of encouraging the use of a existing feature
-
mark been asked about before am sure most already click profile before buying/selling if "encourage" the use of comments as a way of feedback at least may avoid some of probs that do get ? feedback = word of mouth ?
-
nah its not the site removing , its the members all members can control comments on their profile so if any neg feedback (or any sort of comment) , the member can if wishes remove any comments dont really want to change that at moment as it may cause more probs than wish maybe in future, but right now be better if do it step by step imo
