  1. yep fully agree John that was the point of my posting ebay can be cheaper any auction is always going to have that possibility just the same as it can be higher however to make out that the sales on here are priced higher than past ebay/popsike is imo very flawed as would be any auction v set sales comparsion no matter what the sales item were on the examples above could i find higher prices than you quoted on popsike? course I can and that was/is the point of my posting
  2. setsale v past auction prices ? so you saying then that stuff sells cheaper on ebay usually than on here ?
  3. noticed that the amount of sunday events has been rising over the last few months with a fair few either being billed as dayers or stating an afternoon start while last sunday event went to was an alldayer a couple of years ago, I can see the attraction (would argue that one of the best pints you can have is the morning after a niter) of the afternoon thing, though have heard some reluctance to them are we talking alldayer style full on event with most or do some of the ones advertised go for a sort of lazy afternoon style ? what's the views out there on this rising trend?
  4. have merged a few members sales posts if do have a fair few items for sale - then ask that post them in the one post thanks mike
  5. moved to box forum as best place for these sort of q's
  6. posts merged if you have a lot of sales then just make longer lists
  7. Hi Phyllis Thanks for posting and welcome to the site Reference the bootlegging, I think you may have misunderstood, as I don't think anyone talking in this thread has/is bootlegged any stuff, they just seem to be asking if that 45 has ever been bootlegged Regarding the "joke" am sure that there was no offence meant, I don't really get it either, but am sure the member will clear things up when he reads your reply thanks mike
  8. link to forum /forum/89-events-annoucements/ posts will also feature in the front page forum section shortly and will also post info regarding frontpage event news submission once time allows
  9. have just opened a new events related forum called events:annoucements the aim is two fold 1. provide a place for members to share and discuss important event news and announcements regarding new/launches , one off or important event related news 2. avoid news and general forums getting too event heavy all members are asked to use this new forum for "important" event news/info eg announcements of "important " event news while aware that many are passionate about their events do ask that bear in mind the above aims and that it is meant for "important" "one off" "of interest" type posts rather than repeated promotional posts there are event forums already for the actual event info and follow on discussion and they should be used this is meant to provide a service for members who goto events and is not meant to be yet another promotional tool for promoters any posts which feel do not follow this thrust or kicking the arse out of it will be removed
  10. can ask all members for the moment not to post any event news in here due to the structure of the event forums understand that there is a gap when it comes to a place for people to pass on such news currently looking at a solution, till then ask to hang fire on such thanks mike
  11. can watch it on youtube via here https://www.soul-sour...nation-c4-2003/
  12. moved have a read of this
  13. was a few changes a month or so ago to the structure making a few further changes to just try and improve things idea with these changes is to try and make things a bit more basic and easier to understand basically the top forums order has changed and also the description 1. Current Affairs and News the top forum this is for current rare and northern soul talk eg current news, current releases, views on current occurrence's, and so on - keywords - relevant today (note there are forums for events - please use them ) 2 Box for all talk/questions/comments about vinyl, artists, tracks and such in a worthwhile style eg information, history, value, background, label listings, versions etc etc - keyword - recordings 3 AATS - general if it dont fit in to the two above or other forums and its soul related then post here a place for general sort of soul related talk eg general type questions and posts etc etc keyword - general 4. yesterdays as it says a place for talking about stuff from yesterday 5. Refosoul refosoul stuff 6. video/audio/radio as it says radio, podcasts, youtube one offs and so on 7 member shouts and intros no change hopefully these changes will help make it so that things are just that bit better structured which should mean that be easier to find, read, start and take part in discussions that you are interested in feel free to shout up if any q's
  14. moved to aats using current as a place for wortwhile news and discussion on current rare/northenr soul major event news on nighters and weekenders is welcome if launch or a one off or special occasion however posts will be moved out after a day or so to aats and then merged into the actual event thread
  15. these sort of things are entirely member run and led however do suggest that you just simply post up the members names of the 5 cds you have received that way all involved in swap are aware just who's you have got and may then help clear up possible causes, such as delays, wrong address and all that sort of thing thanks mike
  16. can do but usually best if the original poster does it as that way avoids any possible confusion as here am still not sure if its meant to be sat or sun

Highlights to name just some of quite a few, include not only a re-visit of his previous Soul Junction 45 "I can't wait (weekend)" side but a alt version of it as well , the full studio version of the oh so great "Love Is On The Way" is a contender for the stand out , with the reworking of "Kick Back" putting up an argument for such a claim, and his earlier version of "Be Concerned" has a shout as well The track listing is below, along with a sleeve notes grab and a quick mix of just a few of the tracks from this fine release Sleeve Notes A brief grab of just part of the very informative sleeve notes (some great bits of info in there), you can read the full wack at the Soul Junction website (link below) I was born William Bell-Weatherspoon on November 6th 1942 in Bessemer, Alabama. My greatest childhood mentor was our next door neighbour, the renowned 50's gospel singer Alex Bradford. Mr Bradford would often bring his piano out onto his front porch during warm summer nights and invite all the kids in the neighbourhood to join him in song. During high school I continued to sing in several different groups with my friend Richard Fisher (a later member of the Jive Five).I lost contact with Richard albeit for just a short time when his family moved to Cleveland Ohio. In early 1960 my own family followed the same path as The Fishers with us too moving to Cleveland. Once again reunited with Richard we formed a street corner group whose fellow members where David Peoples and Walter "Ricki" Dannison also known as Ricki Sonda. The group never had a formal name we just enjoyed singing on various street corners in the Kinsman area of Cleveland. In 1962 I was drafted into the Army. During my time in the service I continued to sing firstly with the Soul Masters while stationed in Korea and later with the Uniques when stationed in Germany. After my return from the Army in June 1965 I was reunited with Riki Sonda and he introduced me to Leroy Elie, with whom he had been singing with during my absence. The three of us soon realized that we the gist of a competent vocal outfit if only we could add a fourth voice. So in August 1965, John "Cornbread" Berry became the fourth member of our group. Because we all had day jobs our performances were limited to nightclubs at the weekend only. Riki was a quality control foreman at the Cleveland, Chrysler Automotive Plant, Leroy was a commercial electrical and mechanical architect. John was a manager at a metal photo processing plant and I was a criminal investigator for the state of Ohio. In November 1965 with the help of Lou Ragland, the four of us now using the name of the "Soul Notes" signed for Lester Johnson's Way-Out label. Although several tracks were recorded only two 45's were released "How Long Will It Last/Don't Make Me Beg "(Way-Out 101) and "How Long Will It Last/I Got Everything You Need" (Way-Out 106). The intended flip to "I Got Everything you need" was a song entitled "I've Been Waiting For Love" which had been by written by myself, John Washington and "Riki" Dannison. We had even gone as far as recording it but for reasons which remained unknown to us the song was pulled and replaced with a re-release of "How Long Will It Last". "I've Been Waiting For Love" was later released under the different title of "Your Not Loving A Beginner" being recorded by Richard Fishers younger brother Jesse, and with some of the song original Lyric's having been reworked by James Calloway. In 1969, John Berry left the group and was briefly replaced by Avon Wells before he too left to join the "Imperial Wonders". Riki, Leroy and I continued as a trio until 1970, but by now Way-Out records had become embroiled in a internal power struggle and it was around this time that the "Soul Notes" disbanded. As a solo artist I followed my dream to Stax records in Memphis this was to prove a very short lived and unproductive experience for me. 23. i've got a very faint memory of reading that the problems were something to do with the actual groups name involving us lawyers of the estate of baseball legend babe ruth objecting to the use of the name in usa? though i always thought they were from the north east so that memory may be out of the ballpark (groan)
