Press Release: AUDIO Featuring Vince Broomfield, New Beginnings SJ5004 Release Date: Monday 20th June 2011 Florida based recording artist Vince Broomfield first came to prominence through his 1987 release "Do You Really Want Me" which he recorded for the independent Mote label under the pseudonym of "Audio". Do You Really Want Me went on to become a popular anthem with modern soul and rare groove aficionados alike. On the strength of the Mote 45 the acclaimed "Romantic" album was released in 1991 on John Anderson's UK based Rare Groove Label. The album contained an extended version of "Do You Really Want Me" plus several other tracks that gained extensive club and radio play at the time. A further limited edition 45 "Berries On The Vine" was released in 1994. Vince is a multi-talented musician who also lists keyboards, piano and Saxophone amongst his performing repertoire. He continues to perform to this day as part of his sisters Dee Dee Wilde Band, alongside brothers Al, Benn and Eugene Broomfield. The entire Broomfield family have also been heavily involved with the recent Cool Millions project "Back For More" which features as a solo outing by Vince entitled "Sprinkle" a song he also co-wrote. In 2009, Soul Junction records released a 45 single on Audio featuring two previously unissued tracks "Kisses Don't Lie/I Can't Take It" (SJ503). A follow up album to the 45 release was always in the offing so finally for your delectation we would like to present you with "New Beginnings" the exciting new album release from Vince Broomfield. The album contains eight previously unissued tracks, which Vince cut during the period of 1989 to 1995. All the tracks are written and performed by Vince with the exception of "All My Love" which features additional vocals by Rick Washington. Vince would also like to give credit to his brother Ben for the additional guitar work on "She's Gone". Jonathan passed on the following sad news during the recent site move, which wasn't able to feature till now Just picked this up on BBC The Coasters lead singer Carl Gardner has died aged 83, it has been announced on the band's website. The star passed away at a hospice in Florida. He had been suffering from congestive heart failure and dementia, his wife Vet said. "He loved his singing. That was his whole life," she told news agency The Associated Press. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, The Coasters had hits including Yakety Yak in 1958. The song went to number one in the US chart Billboard Hot 100 and was used as the theme tune for Clive Anderson's television programme in the UK during the 1990s. The R&B group also had hits with Searchin', Poison Ivy and Young Blood. "He was such a humble person. If you met Carl, you would never know he was famous," his wife added. Gardner, who founded the band in 1955, retired in 2005 and was succeeded as lead singer by his son Carl Gardner Jr. The star was also fought for legislation, which was passed in 2007, which prevented bogus groups from using the names of famous acts including The Coasters. Regards Jonathan

and still it goes on just removed 10+ flyers posted by one member on here for the same event taking the f***** p*ss what is the problem here can't people understand that repeated over the top promotion is not wanted why post duplicate flyers in the flyer gallery why post flyers in other event threads the vast majority of members play the game there's a flyer gallery, there's a event guide why can't people just wise up for once and drop this tacky sh*te
-
another day and yet more sad news another artist whos music must have touched many peoples lives in many ways it certainly touched mine RIP thanks for passing on
-
those flyers are a great snapshot moment in time sort of thing just having a quick driveby pimp the gallery moment there is a fair few old flyers up in the 1980-90s events albums https://www.soul-sour...99-soul-events/ if you has got the time to post am sure they be a worthy addition to it and be appreciated by other members in future same goes for anyone else with quality archive type stuff always feel its worth adding the worthwhile stuff to the gallery as well as posting in the forum as in the gallery - the pics do still stay in focus, while in the forum they do sort of 'disappear' once the forum post goes down the list

Here's a tasty slice of summer pie from Daptones Ever Soul imprint... Bob and Gene -: "It's Not What You Know (It's Who You Know)" - "Lonely Nights" below form the daptone site Tweezed from the beautiful MO DO tape boondoggle, back in '05-6, this un-released single has been a planned release for some time and an office favorite for too long. At the tail end of the "Bob & Gene" era, say about 1970-'71, the duo was a little frustrated. Despite the time and effort the young men were putting into their song writing and production, things were not working out as planned, the guys needed a breakthrough. They sat in the basement of 50 Orange Street one night and put together a record expressing their frustration. There was no band - just the two of them. They had a guitar, bass and piano, but no drums... some reverb, EQ's and the 4-track. Astoundingly the percussion cooked up on these two sides come from only pots, pans and box's - yes, even what sounds exactly like an open high hat on "It's Not What You Know." The songwriting and vocal performance are no less remarkable. Bobby Nunn and Eugene Coplin penned the two songs featured on this 45. "It's Not What You Know" deals with the frustration - asks and answers the question. Q: "did you you ever wonder why/ the boss's son don't have to try as hard as you?" A: "it's not what you know, it's who you know... stop jitterbuggin' start elbow rubbin' and things are going to get better." In "Lonely Nights," listeners familiar with the group's LP If This World Where Mine will hear an extension of a familiar theme. The song originated with the late Bobby Fonville, a fellow Buffalonian songwriter and close friend of William Nunn Sr. Fonville would often come by the Nunn house to brainstorm. On one such visit he sat on the couch and played a melody on his guitar, Nunn and Coplin were feeling the vamp and added their bread and butter to it, "Lonely Nights" was the result. The official daptone youtube clip is below However the youtube clip is a bit lo-fi to these ears - the player on the info/buy page has a shorter but better listen http://daptonerecord...tem_cat_id=6415 listed at $4.99 and available via link above Other new releases: Charles Bradley featuring Menahan Street Band "Heart of Gold" b/w "In You (I Found A Love)" MP3 and 45rpm single available HERE : http://daptonerecord...tem_cat_id=6032 El Rego "Vimado Wingnan" b/w "E Nan Mian Nuku" 45rpm single available HERE : http://daptonerecord...tem_cat_id=5995 http://www.daptonerecords.com/
