New 45 - Rare Pleasure - Superfine Feeling - Ramrock Records
The beast is unleashed! Rare Pleasure's 'Superfine Feeling' Pts 1 & 2 - first time on 7" anywhere and all legally cleared.

Artist: Rare Pleasure

Title: Superfine Feeling 7” Edit Pt. 1/Pt. 2

Format: 7” Vinyl

Label: Ramrock Retro

Matrix No: RRRET003

Rare Pleasure are best remembered for their 1976 disco classic ‘Let Me Down Easy’ on Cheri Records 12”. However, a follow up remained elusive and their 1977 ‘Superfine Feeling’ only ever saw the light of day as a horribly rare Frankford/Wayne Mastering Labs acetate running at 10:45 and costing over £400 if you were ever able to track one down.

RRET003 - Rare Pleasure - Superfine Feeling Pts 1&2 by Rare Pleasure

In 2020, Dance Music don, Ashley Beedle was approached to edit the unreleased track which had a UK 12” vinyl release in 2021 on Spencer Broughton’s As and Bees label. Having heard the track in all its glory, Ramrock Boss, Jo Wallace immediately thought that a 7” edit would sound like a Blackpool Mecca classic that never existed! And so, the editing process began again and, this time, the North Street Collective of Ashley Beedle, Darren Morris and Jo Wallace came up with ‘Superfine Feeling’ 7” Edit and in the true tradition of soul tracks, named them Pt1 & Pt2. An exuberant, uplifting, Mecca Soul unreleased monster finally receiving the talcumed dancefloor love it deserves 44 years later!

Listen above and pm to order the limited vinyl.

Funk Investigators Living The Dream
Most of us go through life essentially simply surviving, the dull reality of real life often puts paid to any dreams or aspirations that many of us have, the odd night out and drink at the weekend to break the monotony of real life, of work, bills, debts and the struggle to put food on the table and your kids don’t go without.  Often a cruel twist of fate can lead to an adventure that one doesn’t expect and gives you the kick needed to realise those dreams, no matter how unrealistic they may seem.

The Al Kent and Ronnie Savoy Story
IT'S A FAMILY AFFAIR !   Robert, Eugene and Albert Hamilton.

There is little doubt that the most famous family name in Detroit, during the late 1950s,1960s and early 1970s, was Gordy. The family's prodigal son, Berry Jnr., and the rest of his extended clan, had combined to create a musical monolith that dominated local, regional, national and international affairs at the time, and continues to exert

A Personal History Of Northern Soul by Ady Croasdell
I first went to a rare soul all nighter in early 1969. It was in a solitary disused railway station about half a mile from the hamlet of Kelmarsh in north Northamptonshire, 5 miles from my home town of Market Harborough.

A new topic set up for new (or even longtime ) members to post up a Soul Source intro

Nothing major needed, just a quick heads up to all our members, letting them know that you are on here and ideally a brief bit about yourself.

Love Factory: The History of Holland Dozier Holland by Howard Priestley

It has long been acknowledged that Berry Gordy Jr and his Motown Empire put Detroit on the International musical map but it was the creative genius of Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Eddie Holland who would take the sound into uncharted territory. I

****LAURA RAIN RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE****

Detroit soul singer Laura Rain returns with the first single from her upcoming release on UK label LRK Records. "I Am" is a tight and charging romp through time recalling the soulful pop music of West Grand Blvd, and it's driving Motor City beat. A topic quickly set up for members/promoters to both inform and discuss event cancellation due to the extended uk lockdown for the next 4 weeks

I will try and transfer any event 'cancelled' announcements posted here to our Event Guide - but it will work best if members edit the event title themselves by adding 'cancelled' to the title in the guide

ask try and keep the talk to the events rather than the actual uk government policy

'One of the iconic clubs in the early years of Northern Soul, and at last a fitting tribute in the form of this excellent new book'
